concern you. let' s get right to chief meteorologist mike haddad. mike: time is critical in during the morning and early afternoon, no issues but it developed into light snow in the midafternoon, just in time for the end of the afternoon early evening commute. teens and 20' s across the board, much colder than it was this time last night by about 15-20 degrees. now our attention turns to the great lakes, points north and east through the troy -- through detroit to about cincinnati. as the system moves in tomorrow we will see fair skies that are over us right now giving way to thickening clouds. in advance of that, clear sailing. that means the morning commute and travel during the lunchtime hour, even 1:30, should be just fine.

rest of new hampshire and how moves out? we will look at all of that straight ahead. shelley: a neighborhood in salem vandalism. residents along norwood road woke to find their houses and mailboxes spray painted. many of these same victims were also hit in august. as wmur' s andy hershberger tells us why police think the same people are likely behind both incidents. andy: some of the graffiti seems to almost be taunting some of these residents who have been targeted by vandals for the second time in the last few months. >> same mailbox, hit again. andy: charlene morgano' s mailbox was spray painted in august when vandals went through this road. this morning she found this message. >> really discouraging because 23 years in the neighborhood anything happened and it' s just not fair for the people that live here and the kids that are

andy: salem police say about a dozen houses, cars and mailboxes sunday night and early monday morning. many of those victimized were also tagged in august like eric demers who had graffiti written on his mailbox and his garage door. >> it' s a little disappointing to see kids doing this stuff. i would never have done that so it' s a little disappointing of thing so it' s just disappointing. andy police say it' s possible : whoever is responsible for this lives in this general area. and while they don' t think anyone is in any danger, they are urging people to keep their eyes open. >> keep vigilant. check with your neighbors. check your outside property. if you see anything suspicious in your neighborhood give us a call. >> it' s discouraging. it' s frustrating. i leave early in the morning and i come home at night to this and it' s not right.

anyone who may have information about it is asked to call the salem police department. in salem, andy hershberger. wmur news 9. tom: the state medical examiner says there were 385 drug-related deaths last year and 45 cases are still pending toxicology results. the vast majority of those deaths came from some type of opiate or opioid that includes heroin and fentanyl. 72% of all opiate and opioid deaths involved fentanyl either alone, combined with heroin, or combined with some other drug. the medical examiner still projects the total drug deaths for last year to be 400. shelley: the controversial northern pass project is now facing a new round of public meetings. the 192-mile transmission tower project recently cleared its first major hurdle. the next obstacle, will be helping members of the public overcome their fears of the plan. sally bussiere has called the town of franklin home for 16 years. and loves the lifestyle, >> we enjoy the environment very

hiking skiing. shelley she came to tonight' s : northern pass meeting, because she worries about whether new electric towers could affect her health. >> i would like to be sure that there isn' t any repercussions or after-effects living near those towers. shelley easing the fears of : people like bussiere is the reason northern pass is holding a new round of information sessions. the public sessions are part of a year long permitting process. this after the state' s site evaluation committee ruled in december that northern pass' s application was complete. >> tonight is the first of five meetings throughout the state, open houses, and sec-run public information sessions. the law requires one to be held in each county, that the project runs through within 45 days of our application being deemed complete. s public : session, northern pass representatives explained how the 192-mile transmission line project would bring energy from hydroelectric plants in canada

of new england. they tried to reassure fears over health, and concern the tall electric towers would spoil the beauty of new hampshire. supporters here say it would give the state an economic boost, that includes 2600 new jobs, and $30 million annually in new tax revenue. >> and that' s my biggest hope. just to get it moving and to get it happening because we' re trying to revitalize franklin. shelley: four more public information sessions will be held in the next two weeks, in londonderry, laconia, whitefield and lincoln. tom: in commitment 2016, donald trump now has the support of some key gop establishment activists. today sam tamposi, junior and ben gamache announced their endorsements. both work in the real estate industry. and say trump has the experience and talent that' s needed to fix washington.

kentucky senator rand paul and former h.p. ceo carly fiorina didn' t make the cut for the main stage, as they have in the past. both have been invited to the so-called undercard debate, but paul says he won' t participate in anything that' s not the primetime debate. shelley: canterbury selectmen have asked the merrimack county sheriff' s office to conduct a formal review of the town' s police department. back in december, residents called for the town' s police department to be eliminated. that prompted the request for the review. it will go over policies, procedures and other items. this all comes after the arrest of police chief john laroche for an alleged sexual assault more than a decade ago. the powerball jackpot has jumped to the biggest in world history sitting at $1.4 billion tonight. tom: all across the country, people are pooling their money to buy tickets for wednesday' s

so tonight, our jean mackin spoke with an attorney about some wise office pool rules. jean: bunny' s superette here in manchester sells the most lottery tickets in the state and had a $50,000 winner in the last drawing. turns out that was an office pool. the winner came back into the lucky store on sunday to share the good news. >> it was a pool of 30. it was 30 people involved, but she didn' t tell us where from, she was keeping it a secret. jean an office pool winner? :>> yes, yep, 30 of them were sharing it. jean bunny' s has now opened 4 : powerball registers to handle the frenzy. the store has boxes of extra paper to print more powerball tickets and many of them will be for office pools. if you are investing in one. you might want to pay attention to some legal advice from attorney john cronin. the number one rule, put it in writing, include a list of participants, and more. >> how many people are invested

officials. penn questioned the drug lord for rolling stone magazine three months ago. el chapo was trying to land a shopping the idea around to hollywood producers and actors. recording this video. but mexican authorities were tracking penn during his visit with el chapo. sean penn is now defending his telling the associated press, he has nothing to hide. today, the white house commended mexican authorities for their bravery in the attempt to recapture el chapo. they say it has been a high priority for both governments. tom: house lawmakers have voted to limit federal expenses for former presidents, depending on their income. former presidents, including bill clinton and george w bush, can earn millions in speaking fees. after leaving office, presidents receive a pension of more than $200,000 a year, but are also covered for expenses like office space and travel that can add up to more than a million.
