together. announcer: no one covers new hampshire like we do. now, wmur news 9 at 6:00. adam: right now snow is on the , way to new hampshire. and snow squalls could slow down the monday morning commute for t have the holiday off. good evening, i' m adam sexton. stephanie and i' m stephanie chief meteorologist mike hadad tells us when that snow is going to arrive. mike: after the steady snow will develop after midnight and have an impact tomorrow morning. there are a few flurries trying to drift in over southern new hampshire. just about all of that evaporating before reaching the ground. most of the steadier snow south will scoot away from new hampshire in the next few hours. notice squalls developing back to the west. those move in overnight and will be on top of new hampshire for the morning commute tomorrow.

snow will stick to the roads. that means slippery going in morning. changes to follow this week. we will look at all of that straight ahead. adam: an avalanche at tuckerman ravine sent one person to the hospital. gorham dispatch says forest services helped bring an injured man down mount washington this afternoon. he is expected to be ok. stephanie: a worker at waterville valley rescued a child falling from a ski lift. waterville valley says a girl was riding the lift with her mom when she slipped and was hanging from the chair. the director of lift operations managed to catch the girl as she fell. thanks to his quick thinking, both of them are going to be ok. adam: it' s the middle of january, but you wouldn' t know it by looking at many of the state' s lakes. ice is hard to find and it' s starting to be a bit of an issue for some. wmur' s andy hershberger joins us them -- tells us how it is affecting new hampshire businesses. andy: there' s just not a lot of ice on many of the state' s lakes

starting to feel the pinch. it' s not what you expect to see on lake winnipesaukee deep into month of january. open water and a lot of it. after the warmest december on record good ice is tough to come , by. tim moore runs a company that charters ice fishing trips. he says he is usually taking people out before christmas, but not this year. t remember it being usually when we have a slow start, it will get cold and we get the ice we need right away s just not happening. andy: the water temperature of winnipesaukee is 37 degrees and temperatures for january are about six degrees above normal. these conditions on and around lake chocorua have forced the tamworth dog sled race to be postponed by about a month. >> just because of the safety of the dogs. the drivers, our volunteers, the public. we have to have sufficient ice and snow, but it' s the ice that

point. andy: officials say you need about 4-6 inches of clear ice to support a couple of people. 8-10 is recommended for off road vehicles and snow mobiles. captain evan turcotte of the alton fire department says always check for thickness. >> go out in pairs if you can. always have a buddy with yout so that if something does happen they can pull you out. , always check the ice. never set a bonfire on the ice. a lot of people like to have fires on the ice, but that just weakens the ice. andy temperatures are expected : to be at or below freezing most of this week, so conditions should improve. stephanie after a month-long : indecent exposure investigation, police say a sunapee man turned himself in friday. sunapee police say thomas mauzy of maple street exposed himself to a victim and is facing seven counts of indecent exposure and lewdness. mauzy was released on $10,000

court on march 1. investigators do not believe in the case. adam: a hampstead town official is apologizing tonight for comments made during a public meeting last week. on friday, budget committee chair jorge mesa-tejada was discussing school safety when he described how to carry out a school shooting. in his apology letter , mesa-tejada said, stupidly, i used excessively graphic language. it is inexcusable and i apologize. mesa-tejada has been banned from schools, playgrounds, and fields in the town on hampstead. stephanie a woman was arrested : and charged with reckless driving on i-93 in new hampton today after police clocked her going over 100-miles-per-hour. officers say kaila yallum of pennsylvania was traveling north on the interstate towards ashland when a state police helicopter saw her speeding. yallum was pulled over and arrested without incident. adam: a touching reunion took place today here in new hampshire. erin bissonnette reconnected

s been homeless for years. the two met through a project called miracle messages. wmur' s kristen carosa explains how it brought them together. kristen: adam, a man from san francisco is on a mission to help homeless people reunite with their families through social media. kevin adler is traveling around the country to carry out this project. when he stopped in manchester, he met dale and recorded a short video with a message to his family in hopes of making a connection. we first brought you the story in october. his stepsister erin saw the story, looked up the video online and realized that it , really was dale. she says she was in disbelief at first. she thought he passed away. she reached out to kevin adler, the creator of miracle messages, who in turn passed on a video that erin made for dale. and several months later a connection was made. today, for the first time in

most likely predawn through the late morning on monday. temperatures running at seasonable levels. not a big temperature fall overnight. by morning, 20 to 23. they could cool down during the afternoon as frigid air builds in behind the front to the west. storm moving out to sea. a piece of this may work back at new hampshire. we could see enhanced snow at the coast and more squalls up north tomorrow late morning into the afternoon as it tries to dry out in southern new hampshire. here is the timeline for the snow. flurries the next four hours. late tonight and overnight is when the steadier snow will likely develop in many spots. there are some breaks, also scattered squalls that may work

heavier snow that may arctic back into southern new hampshire. we will keep that in through 11:00 tomorrow morning. by early afternoon, most of this note is done over southern new hampshire. flakes will continue in the north country. it is a general one to three inch snowfall. not a lot. that is all it takes to result in slick conditions. plows may be needed in some spots. there could be an isolated spot that gets near four. it is tough to call where that could happen. the most likely spots would be at the coast and in the mountains. flurries early tonight. the roads likely becoming slick overnight into tomorrow morning. becoming windy in the afternoon. winds up to 30 plus tomorrow afternoon. possibly over 40 on tuesday. 21 in southern new hampshire. only 10 up north with wind chills below zero. it quiets down later in the week
