ravine on sunday and lived to tell about it. ray: officials from the white mountain national forest say a 100-foot-wide avalanche tour through tuckerman ravine on sunday. a pair of canadian climbers triggered the slide by climbing above the snow break line. corey swartz got caught and tumbled about 500 feet down the mountain. an avalanche education class was underway at the same time very close by. >> i had a lot of conscious thought of it stopping now. it was completely useless. >> it is a pretty intense experience. we were just below the chokepoint on the shoot -- ch ute.

it was loud. we can feel vibrations in the snow. ray: only two people were hurt in the avalanche. their injuries were minor. everyone should have a beacon, probe, and shovel when on the mountain in the winter. reporting in the studio, ray brewer. sean: a pair of snowmobile crashes highlight different winter problems. in webster, a man suffered a serious leg injury when he lost control of his sled and hit some trees. the man was testing his missing -- machine, but officials say there was very little snow. in sandown, a man went through the ice on a pond or trying to -- while trying to ride his machine across.

erin: the redevelopment plans for the balsams resort are moving ahead again. the general concept is been approved and now the plans will move forward to the specific elements. project leaders hope to break ground this spring. % lawmakers in vermont are holding a series of public hearings about legalizing small amounts of marijuana for personal use in the green mountain state. the senate judiciary committee will decide later this month whether any of the proposals will move forward. singer don mclean has been camden, maine. the 70-year-old "american pie" singer was charged on

erin: police in canada are trying to find the man seen on surveillance video who stole $1500 worth of chewing gum from a store. he filled two garbage bags with a gun before walking out the front door and taking off in a taxi. sean: sticky situation. erin: diagnosing and studying brain injuries could be getting a lot easier and a for. researchers at the university of illinois have implanted tiny computer chips about the size of the grain of rice on the brains of rats.

sean: officials say a 100-foot-wide avalanche tour through tuckerman ravine sweeping away six skiers and climbers. ray brewer joins us live to tell us about the lessons one man learned. ray: corey swartz has been rockclimbing and ice climbing for nearly a decade. he says nothing could have prepared him for the avalanche that knocked him off his feet. >> it was quite an experience, pretty scary. hopefully, nothing i will ever experience again. ray: corey swartz and his two friends set out to climb the chute on mount washington. >> i made my first mistake -- it was early season, there was not a general avalanche bulletin, so t need my

as a member of the androscoggin snow rescue, he stabilized the skiers leg -- skier' s leg. erin: thank you. hooksett police are trying to figure out who fired a bullet into a home. a family on meadowcrest road found a bullet hole in one of their windows. no one was hurt. it appears to be a random act. counselor is on leave after exposure and lewdness. 44-year-old thomas mauzy of sunapee turned himself in. he is accused of exposing himself to someone on several occasions.
