men tried to bind him with duct tape. andy hershberger live now with our top story at 6:00. reporter: the victim in this case says he knew he was fighting for his life. but with the help of his dog they were able to chase both men from his house. >> i just looked oh over and there's two guys in masks started tackling me and spraying me with pepper spray. reporter: jack reed says he was playing video games online when two men came through his front door and jumped him. >> used to get in the living room, i need to talk to you, and i was fighting and wouldn't give up. i was on the ground being choked out by one of them and like he bit him in the face ask gave me enough time to get up. reporter: police say this happened about 5:30 tuesday afternoon. reed says he fought with the shorter man as he tried to get to the front door. >> the fight was insane because he kept locking the door on me. when i finally got up he kept locking the door. like i went to go open the door,

and then i'd fight back, and then i would unlake it and try to open it and he would lock it. reporter: the person reed was called police. but they have only a vague description of the suspects and aren't sure if the attack was random. reed says he didn't recognize his attackers, but knew he was in for the fight of his life. >> the guy that i was fighting on the on the porch, the other one started taking things and you could tell he was panicking, but the little guy kept trying to fight me. when he was outside he kept trying to put his hand around my face so i started biting his fingers. reporter: he took some things and stole his car to get away, that dodge charger was found abandoned less than a mile from his house. you can see that that car is still here at the raymond police department in evidence. authorities are asking anyone who may have seen this car yesterday evening or may have

parts of northern new hampshire. tonight we'll be headed to the single numbers in parts of northern and western parts of the state. even concord could get down to around 9 or 10 degrees. and teens everywhere else. a lot of low teens, so another cold one, the breeze will still be evidence as well. not a lot going on right now. we're watching a storm system out here over the rockies, which will then dive down, pick up some moisture in the gulf of mexico and then ride up the east coast. how close does it make it to us, well, it certainly brings the mid atlantic some big time snow. but it moves to our south, at least the latest data pointing toward that. but there's still a few question marks. we'll show you the timeline when we chat again. tom: commitment 2016 now, and the latest wmur cnn republican presidential poll. jennifer: donald trump remains the frontrunner in new hampshire with 34%, followed by ted cruz

marco rubio and jeb bush are both tied at 10%. while john kasich, rand paul and chris christie all have 6%. tom: so with those numbers looking ahead to the general election and donald trump, how does he do against either hillary clinton or bernie matchup? wmur political director josh mcelveen has the surprising results. josh: in this poll, donald trump has two things going for him, one, the general election isn't for another eleven months or so, and two, new hampshire doesn't get to choose the president on its own. then again the same thing could be said for hillary clinton, unless she actually faces donald trump. >> please, f.b.i., please, go after hillary, i want to run against bernie. reporter: maybe this is why they say be careful what you wish for, because if it really is donald trumps dream to face bernie sanders in november, new hampshire only offers a nightmare beating by sanders to the tune of 23 points. but when it comes to the vermont senator, the donald might find

alone. >> bernie sanders does better than hillary clinton against all of the republicans. reporter: in fact, sanders beats every republican in this survey head to head. but the reality is hillary clinton is the national democratic frontrunner, and probably the favorite to win the nomination. how does she do against trump? she also wins, but by only a 9-point margin. clinton also beats ted cruz by six points, just outside the marriage inof error. it's there that things get sticky for clinton. marco rubio beats her by a point, while john kasich is deadlocked in this poll with clinton, each getting 43%. in fact, every republican in this survey has a better shot at beating clinton in november than donald trump does. >> i think the republican candidates, other than donald trump, need to wake up. reporter: but g.o.p. strategist also says time is running out. for those chasing trump to make what could be their strongest argument to date. >> so they need to start talking to republican voters and saying if you want the white house

someone else other than donald trump. josh: we did reach out to trumps campaign for reaction to this and we were told that of course he loves the people of new hampshire but polls conducted in other important states like florida and michigan show him beating clinton in the general election. not that donald trump ever pays attention to polls. jennifer: we also caught up with two republican governors chasing trump in those polls and in one on one interviews with wmur, both jeb bush and john kasich weighed in on trump's apparent vulnerability. >> the fact is he's going to be tough to beat in a primary perhaps, who knows, we'll see how that plays out, but he will never be president. >> there are so many people undecided. they'll decide in the last week and there will be people who will decide on election day. so for me, the key is to just keep working hard and run right through the tape. you can't let up. jennifer: if you'd like to take a closer look at the latest numbers in our presidential

you can see the winds gusting to 20 or more. so it is certainly feel cold, it's been that way all day and continues right now. 26 along the coast, 20's around pretty much all of new hampshire if you're south of the white mountains and to the north you're already in the teens and headed for the single digits not too long from now, bottoming out in the single numbers overnight. here's the wind gusts coming out of the northwest and coming down off the mountains. that gives them an extra umpf in their push to southeastern new hampshire. as we go through the nighttime hours it will feel cold. chilly now, the wind chill factor temperatures, feels like it's in the single digits to low teens pretty much everywhere. we're had clear skies, a few clouds coming and going. but let's take a look at what's to our west and south, and it's a very weak disturbance, it bring is a few clouds in

next up we start to forecast a storm which is only being born in its infancy right now. map. can you see a few areas of snow here and some clouds over the rockies. it's going to pick up moisture from the gulf of mexico and then tracks up the east coast, that much is fairly certain. because of that there are all sorts of watches and warnings out, winter storm watches and even a blizzard watch in washington d.c. and baltimore for the upcoming weekend. so that tells you there's a pretty good high confidence that these areas will be affected in a great way. but as the storm tracks toward us, and after it brings a lot of snow, these are accumulated forecasted snow amounts for these areas, the white one to two feet plus. but as it begins to move toward us, look what happens, it makes more of a track to the east. therefore, perhaps avoiding us either mostly or completely hardly anything up here with

heard of the euro model everybody is talking about, you just looked at it, that's what this is and that shows you the potential track. but we're still three days away. we had storms several times last year where it looked like it would stay south and it did not. eye to it. but we can tell you a good chance of it missing us, at least fairly high confidence. more data comes in tonight and if that continues to show the same thing then we'll have a better idea that it will miss us. here's another look at that storm on future cast, but not quite reaching new hampshire. at the most it would just be flurries or very light snow in southeastern new hampshire late saturday night, early sunday morning. with that in mind we've got partly sunny skies in the forecast for the weekend. which is pretty interesting, considering such a major storm to our south. >> chip kelly is the 49ers head
