their community. sean: crews spent much of the day yesterday checking for hot spots. ray brewer to explain the loss. ray: good morning. the flames burned for hours at the multi-family home in new castle saturday night. by the time the flames were out, nothing left but a pile of rubble. everyone inside the home got out safely. they lost everything. when firefighters arrived, the flames were shooting out the windows and through the roof. many in the community feeling the lost as well because of the historic significance of the building. the house dates back to the 1800's. according to neighbors a well known local painter lived and worked there. >> it was just devastating. i think it is the most important house in new castle from an artistic and historical perspective. it is really devastating and sad to see that. of course, everyone is out safe. that's a good thing. i know that they lost everything. ray: the fire chief wasn't available yesterday to comment

there's no word yet on how it may have started. we are told though at least one family plans to live in a hotel for the next week. in the studio, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: the fire chief says smoke detectors likely kept a bedroom fire from turning very serious. crews were able to contain the flames to a bedroom and say the fire was caused by improper disposal of smoking materials. all three people inside were able to get out safely. one firefighter was treated for a knee injury. erin: right now concord police are looking for the robber who stabbed a convenience store clerk. police say the man in these surveillance pictures entered the concord mart on north main street about 2:30, pulled a knife, and of coursed the clerk if he wanted to die. when the robber started grabbing money from the register, the clerk got a stick and started fighting back. during the struggle, the clerk suffered a cut to his hand. the suspect is described as a white man in his

air. police are looking for the man in westchesterfield that pulled a gun and robbed a store. he grabbed some money and man toward red road. a canine was able to track the suspect. the robber is described 5'2" and thin. state police say a man was driving drunk after leading police on a high speed chase at nearly 130 miles per hour. kenneth coogan lost control after getting off exit nine, went airborne, and came to rest over an embankment. injuries. sean: a massive clean up effort continues to the south. a powerful storm dropped two feet or more of snow. it could be days before travel is back to normal from this.

erin: it is a bit of a slow weekend at the box office. not because of the movies, but so many movie theaters were closed because of the snowstorm. was hit from behind. gelinas was rushed to the hospital where he later died. the driver, 28-year-old paul larkin of east bridgewater, massachusetts was arrested on a charge offing aggravated dui. >> whether you are coming from out of state or local and want to go out to dinner. we ask people to be careful and responsible. >> it can happen. it can happen anywhere. when you are walking down the street. you have to be careful. erin: larkin is free on bail and due in court next month. sean: right now a boil water order is in effect for the town of lisbon. they are advising people to boil their water for at least two minutes before drinking it. the order comes after e. coli was found in a testing sample from the town's water system. the issue has been addressed. they are waiting for more test results before lifting the order which could happen by wednesday. erin: fish and game along with

some parts got 20 inches or more. inches. i'm here on the outskirts of the city. not clear why we have so many disparities. apparently during the storm the weather measuring device that they used to measure all of the inches somehow got lost. happened. whether observers at one of the airport claims the readings are still accurate. they stand by them in spite of the conditions. sean: maybe it is buried in the snow. we'll have to find it. >> when all else fails, use a yardstick. erin: does that work when you have 27 inches? a chase in california turned in to a less cue mission. the chase started on friday when an officer tried to pull over a car for swerving. the two men inside jumped out and took off running with winter storm in full force.
