deb: we have a very nice commute this morning. if you are commuting on to 89, we are not seeing any delays to end from the upper valley. 93 is currently up to speed through hooksett. you are looking about a 21-minute ride from manchester into salem. the everett turnpike is getting through the bedford tolls with no trouble. from the wzid traffic network, i' m deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. sean: topping our news, police in manchester are investigating after someone broke into senator rand paul' s campaign headquarters. erin: someone forced open a back door, grabbed electronics, and even some snacks. ray brewer is live on bridge street with reaction from the campaign. ray: this has been a tough campaign for kentucky senator rand paul.

primary, this is an unwelcome distraction for the campaign staffers as they gear up for their final push. with primary day right around the corner, rand paul' s volunteers and campaign staff are hard at work, even though they are missing equipment. someone forced open a door tuesday night or wednesday morning and rummaged through the office, stealing computers and ipads. >> these are tools we use to manage our data and look up voter data every day and contact our supporters. ray: despite initial concerns, officials are certain that no sensitive data was compromised. they are working to replace certain items before the voters have their say. >> the work continues. we are going to come --continue chugging. ray: senator paul started building a national infrastructure early, but he

ray: the texas senator is now challenging trump to a one-on-one debate. trump tweeted, "ok, can we do it in canada?" the man he would like to replace at the white house. the meeting was a way for the president to do -- to show neutrality in the close primary race. in iowa, bill clinton stumped for his wife. holding a fundraiser for veterans in iowa at the same time as the fox news debate, literally just two miles away. new national poll shows bernie clinton. the poll shows clinton with 55% to sanders' 35%. support for sanders is up eight month. clinton let sanders by 31 points

erin: the federal government is expanding the areas considered critical right whale habitats the southeast u.s. 30,000 square nautical miles are included in the critical area. the north atlantic right whale was hunted almost to extinction in the 1800s and there are about 500. officials in mexico have released new video of drug lord el chapo guzman after his capture earlier this month. the video shows them being fingerprinted, blood tested, and photographed, and being told about the extradition process to

it also includes footage of the drug lord stealing a car and trying to escape moments before his arrest. sean: tax season is getting underway. local police are warning residents about a sophisticated scam targeting taxpayers. several people in goffstown have reported getting calls from people claiming to be from the irs. the caller says you have to pay immediately using a debit card or wire transfer. the irs will never ask for payment like that and will almost always contact you by mail, not the phone. republican lawmakers have presented a plan to reauthorize medicaid expansion in new hampshire. federal funding is set to start dropping next year. under the proposal, the program would be funded by an insurance premium tax, along with voluntary contributions from hospitals and insurance

the high clouds drift in and ahead of the next system. we go through the evening commute just fine. we have the weak systems coming out of southern parts of canada. the one for the weekend is back out through the pacific northwest and we have another one behind that that looks to move through on monday. the temperature is seven atop mount washington. that kind of infers that this is it as far as any cold snap for us. no real chance for arctic air to get in place and stay in place. temperatures will run anywhere between 15 to 30 degrees colder than what we were yesterday at this time. your body needs time to adjust. bundle up. the wind direction will pick up to 5-10 miles per hour in the afternoon.

ray brewer joins us with how the campaign is reacting to this. ray: good morning to you. this is an unwelcome distraction for the rand paul campaign. the kentucky senator is trying to break into the top republican tear in new hampshire -- tier in new hampshire. whoever broke in rummaged around before stealing computers and ipads. weather was initially some uncertainty, the campaign says no sensitive data was compromised. the plan to replace the stolen items continue the high-intensity grind to election day. >> the work continues. we are still full phone bank contacting phone -- voters today. ray: the campaign says it does not appear there was any kind of political link to the break-in. the intruder also stole some food and clothing. reporting live, ray brewer.

it was a national tragedy that was deeply personal for many in new hampshire. today marks already years since the shuttle -- 30 years since the shuttle challenger disaster. among the astronauts was christa mcauliffe, a 39-year-old teacher from concord. >> let' s see what it does. erin: they are traveling to the international space station and conducting experiments at a high-tech facility in san antonio, texas. in framingham, massachusetts, where christa mcauliffe attended a team on a mission to mars. >> it is so cool. i love it so much. erin: these highly interactive activities are part of the challenger project. >> people who really cared,

erin: june scobey rogers was married to the challenger commander dick scobey. she led the families in the effort to establish the challenger center. loved so much. risk their lives for. erin: june, who was also a teacher, helped christa prepare some of the lessons she hoped to do in space. >> i think she is a nation' s teacher. we all respected and admired her. erin: these centers hope to encourage children to explore and get them engaged in the areas of stem, science, technology, engineering, and math. >> it is better learning here than at school. erin: astronaut mark kelly is on

his former girlfriend pleaded guilty to attempted murder last year. she pleaded guilty to stabbing andrea halverson 16 times and leaving her in the woods to die. prosecutors say kyle buffum planned the attack. a state doctor said no signs pointed to mental illness. a defense witness pointed to depression. belief that his girlfriend had been involved with other people is something that undermined his sense of security. >> my opinion was that he was not mentally ill or as a statute that indicates insane. held criminally responsible for his actions. expected to take the stand. erin: newly unsealed documents the federal trial of dzhokhar

600 pages of case documents were made public. we learned that he was not only suffering from gunshot wounds following the shootout in watertown massachusetts, but also had damage to cranial nerves. an injury to his job that required it to be wired closed and injuries to his left ear. within 24 hours, the court documents show that fbi agents began questioning him for 36 hours in the hospital. prosecutors argued that he made statements in which you -- he expressed no remorse. the documents remain sealed. --key documents remain sealed. sean: the fbi is remaining tightlipped about a huge police presence. the fbi says the public is not in any danger, but agents would not elaborate on what they were investigating.

erin: 35-year-old martin mcdonald stabbed his wife to death at her apartment last night. the victim, 35-year-old julie meede was pronounced dead at the hospital. police received reports about a head-on crash on 495. mcdonald' s pickup truck crossed the median and slammed into an oncoming car. he was arrested and is scheduled to be arraigned today. sean: a texas father says justice has been served after he was charged with theft for taking away his daughter' s cell phone. in 2013, he discovered a text he thought was rude on his daughter' s cell phone. when his ex-wife found out that he had taken his daughter' s phone away, she called the police and he was asked to give the cell phone back. he was also given a citation. if you'

rights, i' m glad i did that. i' severed my contact with my daughter. she wrote me a letter and gave s day that she did not want me to be her father anymore. sean: a judge ruled there was not enough evidence to prove a theft occurred. he was found not guilty. erin: a wisconsin couple is crediting their dog with saving them from an armed robber. a thief broke into their home last week. gunpoint. them. during the robbery, their three-legged dog levi started barking at the intruder. bullet grazed levi' s head and ended up lodged in his shoulder. he took off empty-handed. >> a feeling you can' in words. thank god he was here. erin: back in 2014, levi fell lofty edge of a trail while

for now, we have the sunshine. high clouds back to the west. for the rest of us this afternoon, this system makes its way toward us. in this. scattered snow showers activity. temperatures are in the teens to near 20 degrees. a lot of folks running a solid 20 degrees and even 30 degrees colder than we were yesterday at this time. temperatures just did not go up that much. this morning, we start off much colder. we start of with a light wind and a good deal of sunshine. we may approach 40 in some southern areas today. we have a nice jump with that blend of sunshine and clouds. that eventually sets up the chance of a couple of pop up snow showers here and there. there is a system well offshore. they are trying to bring some energy in.

tomorrow morning and then turns to the northwest. that eventually leads us to the chance of a couple snow showers later friday evening. starting the weekend with a little bit of sunshine. we will add clouds saturday afternoon. we will notice that band of clouds saturday evening. another front approaches moving into the pacific northwest. that will be here sometime on monday. temperatures will be in the 40' s at that point. that would mean a passing rain shower or two. the 40' s hang on likely not only through sunday and monday, but likely tuesday, before the next system arrives. if it comes in early enough, it could be a mix. it is behind that system that we have the possibility of temperatures starting much colder by the time we get there. the countdown is on. it weekend from now, we do the penguin plunge.
