hampshire next thursday. the democratic candidates have offered conditional support, but it appears right now unlikely that the democratic national committee will sanction it. two republican presidential candidates are scheduled to return to new hampshire tomorrow. donald trump has a rally scheduled for tomorrow morning in nashua. ohio governor john kasich will be in hillsborough, concord, and greenland. shelley: a shelter in place warning has been lifted for middleton and surrounding towns. the order went out around 7:00, after police got multiple reports of shots fired. wmur' s suzanne roantree is live in middleton tonight with what police are saying. suzanne: it was just before 6:00 that middleton police say they got to separate calls to 911. the callers told police that the each had heard a single gunshot coming from a gray, older to

over alongside the road near police say when they arrived near the area, the car had taken off, but they found footprints in the snow leading into the woods. area residents were put on shelter in place through social media. >> we secured the area and through the assistance of the new hampshire state police k-9 unit and using thermal imaging devices we were able to confirm , that the person who did go into the woods had come out and left. suzanne: the shelter in place was lifted at about 8:30 this evening. police say they have found some forensic evidence in the case but they cannot disclose what that is. they are looking for the driver of that older two-door gray mitsubishi.

after police say he was hit by a car in concord. the road was closed for several hours tonight. police are still investigating but no charges have been filed at this time. shelley: court paperwork says the man who owns a house in brentwood was the subject of an undercover sting. agents say he was trying to buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of ammunition. under the cover of night, fbi agents conducted a raid at this home on crawly falls road in brentwood. today, paperwork from the u.s. attorney' s office revealed the owner of the house, is 52-year-old daniel musso seen here during a 2013 scuffle with police in front of the state capitol. musso' s latest brush with the law was wednesday, during a sting operation. court papers say musso wanted to buy an extensive amount of weapons, and was involved in anti-government discussions. the fbi says they were tipped off last august, when musso went

about buying $16,000 worth of ammunition, including grenades, gas masks and rockets. then last week musso met with an undercover agent posing as a weapons dealer. the affidavit says musso told the agent he was part of a group of people who wanted to quote, bring forth the original constitution, and said that' s why he needed the ammunition. back in 2013 musso was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault, for the confrontation at the capitol. he was one of several gun advocates attending a rally organized by the mayors againly -- against illegal guns campaign. musso was taken into custody wednesday, after meeting an undercover agent in seabrook. the affidavit says musso illegaly received grenades during that meeting. musso has been charged with violating a federal firearms law. tom: gary lee sampson' s sentencing re-trial has been set for september 14. he was originally sentenced to death after he pleaded guilty to

in massachusetts during a crime spree in 2001. sampson also admitted he killed robert whitney in meredith. sampson' s death sentence was overturned in 2011 after the judge found a juror lied about her background. goffstown police say they found a credit card skimming device inside a card reader at a gas station. the pump at the irving circle k gas station at 277 mast road had been out of order since saturday afternoon. customers complained an error message showed up when they swiped their cards. a service technician discovered the skimmer. surveillance cameras at the gas station are helping police in their investigation. >> there were two vehicles parked outside that pump specifically where we believe someone placed it there at about midnight on the 23rd. tom: police say whoever installed the skimmer would have to come back to the pump to get

goffstown police want to hear from anyone who used the palm at the station between midnight and noon on saturday. shelley: police say a man led officers on a 40-mile chase through two states before he was arrested. somersworth police were trying to stop charles bill last night on several criminal motor vehicle violations. berwick maine police picked up the chase when he crossed the border and followed him through lebanon maine and milton new hampshire before a maine state trooper forced bill' s car to spin out. police found 40 grams of heroin on him. for many, the memories of the challenger disaster are so vivid it' s hard to believe it has been 30 years. tom: tonight, the center that bears the name of concord teacher christa mcauliffe held a tribute for her our stephanie woods takes us there. stephanie: 30 years ago on this day, one concord high school teacher stream of space travel became a nightmare for the rest of the country.

saying tonight that good things can come from even the worst of circumstances. as evidenced by this building behind us, the mcauliffe-shepard discovery center. >> the excitement and unbelievable exhilaration of all of us being there to see such a historic event, turned to utter tragedy in a matter of, 73 seconds after launch. stephanie: bob veilleux was one of more than 11,000 teachers to apply to the teacher in space program and a new hampshire finalist. when christa mcaulliffe got the job, veilleux traveled to cape canaveral to watch her take off. >> the day they finally flew the challenger, i never thought that they would, because it was in fact a very cold morning. and the shuttle was just not designed to fly under those conditions. stephanie: on january 28, 1986, the space shuttle exploded nine miles into the air killing mcauliffe and all six astronauts on board. >> it could have been me. it could have been any of a 100 of us. stephanie: today at the mcauliffe-shepard discovery

gathered to honor mcauliffe. >> i think christa has inspired a lot of young people to reach for the stars. that was her message. stephanie: mark hampton taught at concord high school with mcauliffe. he says he saw her in the cafeteria just days before her death. >> when it was time for her to go she gave me a big hug, and at my spine. and i just had the premonition again. stephanie: clint cogswell was school, where mcauliffe' scott went to school. cogswell watched the launch in florida with scott' s 3rd grade class. >> and all of a sudden, something happened in the sky and we weren' t sure quite what it was. so when we all figured out what had happened we had to explain it to the kids. stephanie: his wife watched scott and caroline mcauliffe while their mom was training with nasa. >> you know life goes on and all is the inspiration that christa

tom: a man from boston has been diagnosed with the zika virus. he recently traveled to one of the countries where the virus has been transmitted. health officials say he' s expected to make a full recovery. mosquitoes carry the zika virus, and it can' t be transmitted person to person. new hampshire has sent out a health alert to doctors on the virus which generally causes mild illness and is suspected of causing birth defects. president obama is creating a new federal task force with the goal of speeding up cancer research. vice president joe biden, who lost his son beau to cancer, will take the lead. the goal of the task force is to double the rate of progress on treatment and prevention. the panel is expected to meet for the first time on monday. shelley: campaigning in new hampshire is about more than holding a few big rallies. candidates spend their time walking down main street, talking one-on-one at small house parties, and eating at wmur' s adam sexton lays out the

the water temperature now is 43 degrees. a good bet that will have the water temperature warmer than the air. the countdown is on. check out our website for much more information on that. otherwise looking good in terms of the weather. temperatures again above the norm of 31, that' s the average high this time of year but today we made a run at 41 degrees. amazing to see this run of mild temperatures. we still get another day above normal tomorrow, although a little cooler. the balance of the overnight will be on the dry side. there are two systems that are tracking between now and the end of tomorrow. one is back to the west of the great lakes. another one down over the east coast and a lot of this will

however this disturbance may catch up to us tomorrow afternoon and tab a little of that moisture and not get back at us. a couple of widely scattered snow showers cannot be ruled out. we' re into the 20' s and low 30' s , 14 atop mount washington, not all that cold over 6000 feet of this time of year. teens and 20' s as you head out early tomorrow morning so little in terms of the timing of the showers and snow, they will work in late morning and afternoon. some partial sunshine but during the late morning and afternoon this disturbance will kick in and some moisture may try to roll back in all the ocean to create scattered snow showers. could be a half inch to an inch and some of the mountain top to the north. outside of that it' s mainly quiet.

once that clear saturday night, we are right back into the mild air well above the average. clouds move in with a warm front , a band of light snow or snow showers mostly northern and central new hampshire for saturday evening, out of here by early on sunday. after that we are right back into the 40' s, maybe touching 50 for the first day of february. tomorrow morning this -- the clouds are in. outside of that, mainly quiet for the morning commute. better chance of a widely scattered shower or two late morning or afternoon with coding interview spots. snow showers late mainly of north, sunday looking good, near 50 with an isolated shower late monday.

plymouth high school senior will johnstone. we caught up with him while he was taking some ski jumps at practice. will does all of the skiing sports. alpine, cross country skiing, and jumping. last year he won the nhiaa ski meister award. he is the captain of the ski teams at plymouth high school and also captain of the golf team. he skied 95 days last year, so he just loves being out there. will also volunteers at the salvation army and the mobile food pantry. he will ski for plymouth state next year and study business administration. although he skis many disciplines, he does have a favorite. >> i would have to say the giant slalom and ski racing. i been working at that since i was younger and it' s something that i just love the most. of always love the outdoors since i was little. once i started skiing it kind of
