sean: now on "daybreak," police in manchester are investigating a pair of shootings about an hour apart in different parts of the city. we are live with an update. erin: residents in middleton were told to stay inside for hours last night after reports of shots fired. now police need your help tracking down whoever was responsible. kevin: a lot more clouds around today and hit or miss snow showers. what it means as far as our weekend is concerned ahead. sean: running for re-election. we have breaking news from congressman frank giunta has he starts looking ahead to the next two years. >> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now wmur "news 9

erin: hi there. happy friday to you. thanks for joining us. i'm erin fehlau. sean: good morning. i'm sean mcdonald. we didn't really need the jacket. this weekend it is going to feel not so winter lake. kevin: temperatures in the 30's. tomorrow we get the sunshine back. a jump in to the 40's starting sunday that looks to last for the first half of next week. we start off with a lot of clouds across the area. more than anything else this morning. you'll notice the scattered snow showers to the west, rain to the south and east. scattered snow showers are a possibility just kind of scattered about through the day today. temperatures in the 20's to lower 30's. those numbers very close to our normal highs for this time of year. as we go through up the day, it is the extra degrees above normal. much more on your weekend forecast in a bit. let's look at your friday morning ride here joined live by deb davidson. good friday morning, deb. deb: good friday morning. it does remain an exceptionally quiet commute as you start

road with the details. ray: erin, police are releasing few details on what happened here on huse road or pine street. they certainly kept busy last night. the first shootings happened here on huse road which is located behind the mall at about ten minutes before 9:00 last night. they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound that does not appear to be life threatening. manchester police response unit was on the scene. officers taping off one entrance to the hotel as well as a vehicle in the parking lot. it was about an hour later when police were called to another shooting this time on pine street. again one person being treated for what appears to be a non-life threatening gunshot wound. officers were seen inside the building. right now there's no word as to what might have prompted either shooting again. police saying they don't believe they are connected at this point. live in manchester, wmur news 9. erin: thank you. right now police in

for the driver who after shots were fired in town last night prompting a shelter in place order for resident. two people called 911 before 6:00 saying they had heard a single gunshot after an older gray car pulled over. by the time the police arrived, the car was gone. they found footprints leading to the woods. they told people in the air yo to say inside. >> we were uncertain if it was a victim or suspect at the time. we secured the area and through the assistance to the state police canine unit and using thermal image images devices, we were able to confirm the person that went in to the woods came out and left. forensic evidence. they are looking for the driver of the older gray mitsubishi. sean: police are trying to yesterday. when firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire spreading up

it took a total of 50 firefighters to put it out. one was treated for a minor injury. the red cross is helping three people. a nearby charter school was briefly evacuated due to all of the smoke. a man is being treated for series injuries. the man was in a wheel cheer when he was struck yesterday between commercial and main streets. no charges have been filed. that case remains under investigation. erin: we're following some breaking news from the political front this morning. in an exclusive interview with john distaso, frank guinn that says he will run for re-election this year. giunta says he has repaid the $355,000 that he owed to his parents as part of the agreement with the commission. last year the fec ruled that he violated federal election law by taking obsessive campaign contributions from his parents in 2010. he maintains the money

three other candidates have said they are running for his seat. you can read more of the exclusive interview on the primary source section of wmur.com. sean: donald trump took on the rest of the republican field in iowa from afar. he skipped the debate and held his own rally a few miles away. without him on stage, ted cruz was thrust in to the spotlight. lana zak has a recap from des moines. reporter: good morning. even without donald trump on the main stage there were still plenty of memorable moments from the debate. most of those moments were about donald trump. it was the final debate before the first votes are cast in iowa and the national front runner was absent. felt. >> everyone on the stage ugly. now that we've gotten the donald trump portion out of the way.

sex worker organizations testified in favor of the bill yesterday? sean: the zika virus continues to spread. now it has made its way to massachusetts. a man has been diabetessed after recently traveling to a country with an outbreak. the zika virus is transmitted by mosquitoes. they have sent a health alert to doctors with guidance which has been linked to birth defects of the brain and head. erin: still ahead this morning, taking one final call. >> every time you answer, you don't know what is going to be on the other end. erin: a local emergency dispatcher is calling it a career after 30 years of sending people the help they need. sean: the hometown hero is flying to new heights and lead ing on the slopes and in the community. erin: a warning after police say a credit card skimming device

kevin: friday morning, january 29th. overcast skies. 21 degrees there. headed up to just above the freezing mark for the afternoon with scattered snow showers. we could see a half an inch or an inch out of what dies off later on this evening. there will be another chance of light snow in the country this weekend. the details coming up. erin: all right. this week's hometown hero is a true winter warrior. s that's right. we caught up with will johnstone while he was taking some ski jumps at practice. he won the award last year and it captain of the ski team and golf team as well. he volunteers for the salvation army and

i've always loved the outdooring since i was little. once i started skiing, it grew on me. i was always going to ski. there was nothing going to hold me back. sean: here's what he sees. he wore a go pro camera. he flew about 28 meters. he plans to ski for plymouth state and study business administration. erin: there you go. you can say you went down a ski jump. bonnie johnson is retiring from her job as an emergency response dispatcher. johnson has been with south western new hampshire district fire mutual aid for 31 years sending fire and ambulance crews to 77 towns, including vermont. she remembers the business disasters most like the alstead flood and the 2008 ice storm. she knows how important it is to get people the help they need as fast as possible. >> it is the job helping people.

their lives. and i just -- i love the work. erin: johnson says that she is looking forward to retirement so she can take a trip to hawaii and send some more time with her family. and let's hope that she enjoys retirement. she's done some great work. sean: i imagine it is a stressful job. she probably needs to relax. 6:13. coming up new life from hooksett. the plans in place. erin: plus a massive settlement for a pharmacist that sued walmart after she was fired from her job in seabrook. sean: this week's adopt a pet is precious. her name matches per personality. she's well behave and loves to cuddle. her elderly owner can no longer care for her. she's waiting in pelham.

sean: there's exciting news in hooksett. robie's country store will re-open this spring under new ownership. a couple has reached the deal. joshua and amber enwright runs roots catering and will serve breakfast and lunch. the store will be open on primary day if you want to swing by and learn more ant the plan. erin: a pharmacist who worked at the walmart in seabrook won a $30 million lawsuit. maureen mcpadden worked for walmart for more than 13 years. she reported several legal and safety concerns that were leading to prescription errors. she was fired a short time later. mcpadden sued claiming gender discrimination along with wrongful

violations of the whistleblower protection act. after a five-day trail, the jury ruled in her favor. sean: all day breakfast is helping sales surge. now the giant is looking to expand that part of the menu. starting in february, mcdonald's will add the mcgriddle and biscuit sandwich to the options. only in tulsa, oklahoma for now. if the tests will there in oklahoma goes well, it could expand. many customers have complained about the absence of the mcgriddle since the breakfast was launched. they want it. it's been tested. kevin: the horror. erin: they have unveiled the first ever disabled minifigure. the boy wearing a hat is going to be part of the new lego city set coming out in june. for years fans have been asking for more diversity. now lego has answered. this is going to be in one of the sets.

looks like we say mild. 40's for most include wednesday before another system moves through and then even more changes follow with cooler air for the end of the week. again plenty clouds this morning in tandem. right now a lot of the clouds on the north western side of the system that is located well off shore several hundred miles. i think between that and the upper level energy, we're going to see some scattered snow showers develop. again nothing that's going to last all day or cause huge problems in area roadways. they will be out there. i think most prevalent in the white mountains. you could see locally up to an inch of snow. temperatures in the 20's to near 30 degrees. these numbers just a degree or two shy of the normal highs for this date. of course lack of tremendous deep snow pack across the area just kind of helps temperatures stay up overnight. temperatures running 10-12 degrees warmer than yesterday at this time thanks to the cloud cover. the coldest of the air starting to retreat back. another warming trend

high temperatures today above freezing statewide. we'll be approaching 40 degrees with the clouds in southern areas. as you'll notice here, anywhere after mid-morning that chance of some scat ed snow shower activity along with a mostly cloudy sky. then it will start to pull away later tonight. even the snow showers up north give way. sunshine to clouds. a light snow and a warm front. could be an inch or two of accumulation out of that. with partial sunshine on sunday, we're talking temperatures in to the 40's. again 40's to near 50 on monday. remaining in the 40's tuesday. then wednesday as the next system rolls in. right now looks like it will be warm enough unless it arrives really early in the day this would be mainly rain fall for us on wednesday. as it pulls away, cooler dragged down. by the time we get weekend we're talking highs in the 20's to near 30. that will be more typical of what we would expect this time of year as opposed to pretty much the next lot that

is a lot of 30's, 40's, and then the one 50. erin: for the first day of february. kevin: the ground hog will have an interesting decision on monday. erin: we want to check the top stories with ray brewer. ray: manchester police are investigating a pair of shootings. the first one happened at the townhouse suites. police found one person serving from a gunshot wound that does not appear to be life threatening. an hour later police called to another shooting on pine street. one person being treated non-life threatening gunshot wound. there's no indication that the cases are connected in any way. erin: police in middleton are looking for a driver after shots were fired prompting a shelter in place order. two people reported hearing a gunshot after the car pulled over.

hides parents under the agreement with the fec. he took obsessive campaign contributions from his parents in 2010 which was in violation of a federal election law. now that the money has been repaid he says he feels like he has put the controversy behind him. you can read more of his exclusive interview on wmur.com. erin: we're following a developing story in manchester. police are investigating a pair of shootings. the first took place last night at a hotel on huse road about an hour later officers responded to another shooting. street. ray brewer live. he's near the scene of the first shooting with the latest details. ray: this all began shortly before 9:00. police were called here reported shooting. when officers arrived, they found one person who was suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. detectives were on the scene for several hours

now at this time, there's no word on whether any arrests have been made. it was about an hour later around 10:00 when officers again responded to another shooting. this time on pine street. they say one person was shot. like the first shooting victim, the injuries are not believed to be life threatening. now at this time no further details are being released. there's no indication that the two shootings are connected. reporting live in manchester, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: all right. thanks. we are learning new details about an fbi search at a home in brentwood. court paperwork says the man who owns the house was the subject of an undercover sting. agents say 52-year-old daniel musso was trying to buy tens of thousands of ammunition. he was involved in anti-government discussions. the fbi was tipped off last august when he went to a firearms dealer to ask about buying $16,000

grenades, gases, and rockets. an affidavit said he told the agent he was part of a group of people who wanted to quote bring forth the original institution. musso is charged with violating a federal firearms law. erin: goffstown police say they found a credit card skimming device inside a card reader at the gas station. the pump had been out of afternoon. a service tech discovered the skimmer after customers complained about an error message when they swiped their cards. police are hoping that surveillance cameras can help them track down the culprit. >> they have to come back, get the information, and recompromise themselves on security footage. erin: the goffstown police want to hear from anyone who used pump six at the station between midnight and noon last saturday. they say that you should contact your bank and let it know your card may have been compromised.

the sentencing retrail of the convicted murder. gary sampson was originally sentenced to death after he pleaded guilty to carjacking during a crime spree in 2001. he also admitted to killing robert whitney in meredith. his sentence was overturned after a judge found the juror lied about her background. the sentencing retrial is set for september 14th. erin: an investigation underway in peterborough after officials say that threats were made against some students and staff members at conval high school. according to the superintendent a note was sent to parents saying the responsible parties have been identified and are not attending school in the district. he added that precautions have been put in place to protect students and staff. they are not aware of any broader threats. sean: a man from maine is recovering after suffering serious injuries in a snowmobile accident in stratford. fish and game officials say 45-year-old paul politz was riding in the area of strafford yesterday afternoon when

sled, went 15 feet over an embankment, and slammed in to some trees. they believe the accident may have been caused by a rock that was protruding out of the ice. erin: a familiar face on the campaign trail ended up in court line. rod weber also known as the flower guy gained attention by showing up at primary events and offering prayers and bow bouquets of wild flowers. a run in at a donald trump event had him worrying about getting locked up. it shows him trying to shout out questions. they charged him with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. prosecutors dropped the criminal chargers and weber pleaded no contest. even after his brush with the law, the flower guy says heparanned to stay involved in the political process. >> we're going to have some laughs and go out there and enjoy life. if we're not enjoying life, then, you know,

nashua. the next republican debate will bring the candidates here to new hampshire. abc news and wmur are partnering with st. anselm college which will be held on saturday, february 6th. the democrats are not officially scheduled to debate again until february 11th in wisconsin. sean: a texas middle school is closed after at least 145 students and staff were sent to the hospital yesterday. authorities say paramedics were called after a student passed out due to a carbon monoxide leak and boiler. dozens of staff reported the symptoms, including nausea and headaches. >> it is sad. i don't know everyone at the school. i still care about everyone and hope that nothing like this bad would ever happen to them. sean: all of the students and staff members have been released from the hospital. erin: a certain of sonic booms rattled nerves. >> i thought i was going crazy.

it is definitely something going on. >> it was like a rumble. when the heater backs up. the rumble and the whole house shook. erin: many people thought an earthquake was hitting. officials say the booms were caused by military fighter jets. a navy spokeswoman says an f-35c which has a top speed of 1,200 miles per hour was among two aircrafts conducting super sonic testing off of the coast. sean: a man known as honest abe has his own web site and takes donations via credit cards. >> being homeless is my business. now my business is being homeless. sean: abe hads been living on the streets for ten years. you can hire him to do odd jobs. he also takes credit card donations. he's on a mission to people. >> you take haft adults in american. it is about $100 million

erin: 6:55. updating our top stories. sean: manchester police are investigating a pair of shootings. here's ray brewer. ray: last night police were called to the townhouse suites. they found the person suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound. an hour later they were called to pine street. a similar situation. one person found to be wounded from a gunshot. again non-life threatening wounds. at this point, police do not believe the incidents are connected. erin: we are following breaking news political news in an exclusive interview.
