now, wmur news 9 tonight. tom: we' ll go through a virtual change of seasons overnight tonight in new hampshire. it' s 42 degrees right now in manchester. the spring-like feel of today place. shelley: i' m shelley walcott. the timing of tomorrow morning' s snow is the most important here. let' chief meteorologist mike haddad. mike: the snow continues through the entire -- morning commute. hard to imagine near 60 today and now are seeing the cooldown already below freezing in keene, and it will take a few more hours for the roadways to go downhill in terms of the conditions. there is nothing falling out of the cloud cover and nothing will over the next couple of hours. steady rain, but i'

: candidate added events to his scheduled today going from two events to five, the most he' s ever planned in one day for the campaign trail. he' ll be in londonderry tomorrow. the first question for senator ted cruz at a town hall in laconia tonight was about the future of social security. >> for those on social security or near retirement, there should be no changes whatsoever, nothing, not a penny, nothing changes. we have made promises and we need to honor those commitments. tom: he wants to gradually raise the retirement age for younger workers, and change the rate of benefit increases so it matches the rate of inflation. cruz has an event planned for tomorrow evening in salem. shelley: florida senator marco rubio got a little help during a town hall meeting in salem tonight from his youngest son. >> come on, sit on the stool. that way, no one will ask me a mean question because my son is here. shelley: rubio'

him on the campaign trail today, and his 8-year-old dominic asked to stay up on stage with his dad after introductions. rubio has a rally planned in derry tomorrow night. ohio governor john kasich had a day full of town hall meetings today, finishing up tonight in alton. the republican presidential candidate says he believes he' ll do well in new hampshire because he' s held so many town hall meetings, giving people information they want and explaining how he' ll fix the problems the country faces. tomorrow, he' ll be in atkinson, hollis, and bedford. tom: new jersey governor chris christie also filled his schedule today with town hall meetings. this morning in keene, he said that even if he gets beat in new hampshire, he isn' t going to drop out of the race. tomorrow, christie has a number of events planned, including in dover, sandown, and salem. republican presidential candidate carly fiorina spent today in windham, nashua, and rindge, holding town hall meetings. she has more town halls planned for tomorrow in manchester, epping, and merrimack. shelley: among the campaign

they burglarized a gun store this week. shelley: the owner says he is uncomfortable that they are still out on the street. the owner of wicked weaponry gunshop in hooksett says it' s clear thieves were determined to get into his gun store. >> it looks like they had been working on the door for about 45 minutes. shelley and, as these : surveillance pictures reveal they came prepared. >> they had bolt cutters, and some pry bars. shelley hooksett police say the : burglars hit the londonderry turnpike store just before 4 a.m. wednesday. beauchemin says they made off with handguns and semi automatics a total of four firearms stolen at random from this smashed case. >> they were scanning around the shop, and when they hit a case that they saw with a flashlight that looked like it had guns they went right for that one. shelley the weapons are worth : more than two thousand dollars. he is not happy those guns are on the street. >> for us security is paramount, the safety of the public is paramount, just like any gun shop owner. so it'

happens. because you worry about people and things that can happen when they' re out there so you try to mitigate this as much as possible really. shelley: if you have any information on this burglary, please call hooksett police. tom: the fda announced today new steps to regulate opioids. one of the chief goals is to reduce the impact of addiction. among the steps, new warning labels on some types of opioids. an advisory committee to approve new opioid drugs. and a new push to develop abuse-deterrent formulations of opioids. senator jeanne shaheen praised the action, saying it is overdue. the opioid abuse crisis in new hampshire particularly heroin and fentanyl was the headline issue in governor maggie hassan' s final state of the state address. the senate passed three bills related to the issue today, including drug court legislation. governor hassan touted the state' s response to the crisis and said there is more to be done. >> that' s one of the many

portions of southern new england and that through the mid-atlantic region. 50' s and 40' s are turning into 20' s and 30' s and many spots. look at the highs from earlier today. near 50 up north, even above freezing atop mount washington. then 50' s to near 60 from manchester south and southeast. temperatures have been cooling all evening long sober ride it freezing in berlin, -- all evening long and right at freezing in berlin. down to 18 atop not washington so we got the cold air upstairs as well. eventually in southeastern parts of the state, near 40 will get back to 33 or 34, just cold enough for snow. mid-20' s up north, 32 south,

the rainbows into the cold air and cools us down just enough for snow. anywhere during the course of friday morning or early afternoon. cannot be ruled out the next couple of hours. steady rain bumps into the cold air and that means snow. the deeper blues indicate at least moderate snowfall rates, i half inch to an inch per hour. later friday morning that snow will begin to shift into southeastern parts of new hampshire before pulling off to the east after 1:00 or 2:00. up to about 3-5, anywhere from rochester down through dover and around concord could be about the three inch line. then manchester nashua, a good

maybe five or six down at exeter to the coast. it' s quickly over to snow for the morning commute. lesser amounts farther off to the north and west. this is the way sky castle breakdown over manchester in the coming hours. here we go into the big wet snowflakes and it will be a heavy, wet snow due to the fact the temperatures are up near freezing. so it will be tough to move around, trying out later friday afternoon so the commute tomorrow morning really tough, not much better around lunchtime. a big improvement by the evening. monday nice and quiet, another chance of snow tuesday and still lots of time to work on that as
