when it moves out, ahead. announcer: no one covers new hampshire like we do. now, wmur news 9 at 6:00. tom: 6:00 on this sunday night. a winter storm is moving toward new hampshire. it could dump half a foot of snow on parts of the state in time for the start of the workweek. good evening, new hampshire. i am tom griffith. jennifer: i' m jennifer vaughn. hayley lapoint is tracking this for us. hayley: it looks like it will start in most areas, at least in southern new hampshire midday tomorrow. it really comes at us during the late day hours and overnight. today has been nice. we had clear skies. great ski day or for doing anything outdoors. temperatures were above freezing and still are. 36 in concord. 38, manchester. 34 in nashua.

as temperatures everywhere fall below freezing tonight, there will be patchy black ice. keep that in mind. this nor' easter starts midday tomorrow and ends early tuesday, which is great for voters. the heaviest snow will be at the coastline. i will talk more about who gets what and when, coming up. jennifer: in commitment 2016 coverage, tonight every presidential candidate is expected to be in new hampshire. with the first votes in the first in the nation primary just 30 hours away, democratic and republican candidates are making the final pushes for your votes. the latest poll numbers show many granite staters still have not decided how they will be voting on tuesday. tom: josh mcelveen has a look at our latest poll. josh: keep in mind the survey was conducted before the saturday night debate with the republicans. with a large pool of undecided

on the republican side, donald trump remains atop the field with 33% support in new hampshire. beneath him, marco rubio, ted cruz, and john kasich are within the margin of error for each other for second place. while jeb bush, carly fiorina, and ben carson are campaigning hard, they seem to be needing an election night surprise. bernie sanders still leaves hillary clinton by 23 points. 33% of democratic voters say minds. that number swells to 55% for likely republican voters. this is the time campaigns need to earn their paycheck. >> we have been hearing about the ground game for months. while no campaign will give you a lot of details, everyone says they have a great ground game. we are going to find out tuesday. josh: according to the secretary of state' s office, there could be a record turnout for the 2016 primary. we will see if the weather plays a role in that. it seems a lot of people are

who has earned their support. josh mcelveen, wmur news 9. tom: bernie sanders is back in the granite state after a quick trip to new york for a "saturday night live" performance. adam sexton is live where bernie sanders held a rally this afternoon. adam: it was a great crowd for senator sanders who to delivered a speech that touched on all the major themes of his campaign. he did discuss how he is going to pay for his ambitious proposals right free college and universal health care. on one hand, he sent things will get done by people demanding they get done. but with a nod to income inequality in america he also said it' s time to redistribute wealth. bernie sanders and we can afford : these programs because we' re going to transfer some of that wealth back into the hands of

donald trump: who watched the debate last night? it was good. we had a lot of fun. even people that hate me gave me good marks. isn' t that amazing? some of those pundits hate me so much and it was so hard. one of them said he won the debate, i can' t stand it. they were almost crying. jean mackin: donald trump told the crowd he might miss some of the super bowl talking to new hampshire voters, saying that is a minor detail. he does have events planned tomorrow including a primary eve rally at the verizon wireless arena in manchester. jean mackin, wmur news 9. jennifer: as for governor john kasich tonight, he says he is feeling good about his debate performance wasted no time getting back into his element holding his 101st town hall meeting. he says he was able to deliver his message last night and

he has focused most of his exclusively. does poorly here, he will be going home. today after he spoke with pat house in nashua, the ohio governor sat down with news 9 and said he is feeling good about his chances and the final debate before the primary. john kasich: you never know when you are on stage. there was a party. morning. there were 200 plus people. the wind is at our back and i think we will do really well. >> he called on his opponents to pull down a negative ads and focus on the issues. tom: chris christie spent the day campaigning across the state. christie started his day with a town hall. performance. last night, he targeted marco rubio saying multiple times he lack of experience.

the day in exeter at a stop at reporters. chris christie: everything you life really matters. all week. matters. tom: christie ended his day in manchester. tomorrow, he will hold four town halls. jennifer: jeb bush posted salem and nashua. both events. bush took questions on a variety of topics from social security and health care to taxes on small businesses. bush said he was pleased with his performance in last night' s debate and at both stops, he kept his focus on donald trump. jeb bush: there are people who are on the stage or not conservative like donald trump. there are people good at turning a blind but don' t have a proven record. i think the governor' s did well. i think i have the most proven conservative record.

jennifer: hundreds of swimmers hit the atlantic ocean in hampton beach today for a good cause. tom: the 17th annual penguin plunge benefited the new hampshire special olympics. between yesterday' s high school plunge and today' s event, more than 1000 daring swimmers jumped in the 42-degree waters to raise more than $553,000 helping new hampshire special olympic athletes. the plungers say they do it for the cause as well as for a few bragging rights. announcer: now, your forecast. hayley: that camera was on mike haddad as he went into the water. i am sure it did not feel nice. it could have been colder for this time in february. here is a time-lapse of what happened at newfound lake today. we started with clouds and ended the day with clouds. a nice sunset probably took

southern areas of the state. look at the temperatures we got to today. 47 in nashua. new boston, 46. durham about 44. compare that to the average high of 33 for this time in february, and that is very mild air. it was a good day to scrape the ice and snow you may have remaining on the driveway. temperatures still above at least in central and southern new hampshire. north. 28 in laconia. 29 in plymouth. with temperatures going below freezing, there could be black ice on the roadways tonight, especially the walkways and parking lots. be careful of that this evening super bowl parties. completely clear skies over the state at the moment. the clouds over northern areas have receded north. for much of the overnight, we

temperatures will drop quickly. we see this big system about to have huge impacts on new england in the next 24 hours. you see mainly rain off the coast of north carolina. as that meets up with colder air moving in across the area here, it is going to be all snow and very heavy snow. let me show you the timing. you can keep track of that. 8:00 tonight, a few passing clouds. otherwise, clear skies across the state. watch what happens when we get to 7:00 a.m., the clouds fill in. snow still south of the mass pike. when we get to noon, it is starting to creep into southern new hampshire as far north as manchester and concord by lunchtime. it will fill in south to north during the afternoon and evening. the evening commute will be the messiest with the snow coming down heavy. here is the good thing.
