erin: we begin with a story that' s developing now at noon, new charges filed against a manchester gym teacher accused of soliciting inappropriate pictures from a young girl. good afternoon. i' m erin fehlau. police say he posed online as a girl to get the student to send him pictures. wmur' s kristen carosa is in manchester with the latest details. kristen: erin, this investigation started last year, that' s when this teacher was now he faces more than a dozen charges related to child pornography. paul johnson-yarosevich, a former manchester elementary school gym teacher, was arrested in 2015 by manchester police for posing as a girl online to get a student to send him pictures of herself. the young girl' s father reported that his daughter was being contacted by someone online. investigators say the girl did

her herself. at the time, johnson-yarosevich, who' s from maine, was charged with a felony count of prohibited use of computer services for using the internet to attempt to seduce, solicit, lure, or entice a person. parents at the school were notified, and the district cooperated in the investigation. now, nearly a year later, johnson-yarosevich is facing more than a dozen charges, including distribution of child sex abuse images. according to court documents, johnson-yarosevich knowingly sold, exchanged, or otherwise transferred visual representations of a minor engaging or being engaged in sexually-explicit conduct. court documents say the pictures were sent out through facebook in december of 2014. school officials placed johnson-yarosevich on unpaid leave last year and now no longer employed. a pre-trial hearing is set for march 24. live in manchester, kristen carosa, wmur news 9.

the massachusetts teen, convicted of killing his math teacher, is about to learn his fate. 17-year-old philip chism is in court right now, where he' s set to be sentenced for first-degree murder, aggravated rape, and armed robbery. chism was 14 year old when he killed his teacher, 24-year-old colleen ritzer, at danvers high school. nine people gave victim impact statements at his sentencing, including the victim' s parents. peggy ritzer: i wish i could have helped colleen, but no one knew what evil sat in her room that day. our lives will never be the same. we will never be feel the happiest we did before that horrific day. and the gaping hole in our lives will never be filled. erin: prosecutors are asking that chism be sentenced to at least 50 years in prison. right now, it' s a bright, breezy day across the state. we do have a live look at meredith where the great rotary fishing derby has kicked off. temperatures are in the upper 20'

stick around this weekend? kevin skarupa. weekend. we are eyeing a warming trend. still quite a few clouds and light snow, as much as four inches of snow in the northern temperatures are now are in the teens, even single-digit in for no mother -- in the far northern areas here sustained speeds at 30 miles an hour, and that is providing a windchill that would likely be with us through the evening as temperatures continue to slide. the breeze remains up through the weekend. that is the one consistent part of this forecast. from there, yet another warming trend is setting up. we will have the details on that with your forecast in just a bit. erin: all right, kevin. manchester police are looking for a man who robbed the 7-eleven store on webster street.

bazi: investigators are getting closer today to understanding what led to the terrifying shooting rampage in a small kansas community. >> the gun was strapped to him and he was ready to go. , bazi: the gunman now identified as 38-year-old cedric larry ford. just before 5:00 p.m. thursday, officials say he first opened fire from his car on other drivers, wounding two in separate locations. then, he drove to his workplace. >> the shooter then takes that victim' where excel is. bazi: ford arrives at excel with an assault rifle and handgun. investigators say he shot one industrial plant before going inside. >> everybody was just trying to get out of the shooting. bazi: three people killed, and

defamation suit at a later date. new this noon, the u.s. military is launching a new effort in the fight against isis. officials say they are stepping up cyberattacks against the group. they are targeting the militants' ability to use social media and the internet to recruit fighters and inspire followers. it also includes efforts to prevent the group from distributing propaganda and videos. the legal battle between apple and the fbi is officially on. now the tech giant is being backed by google. google is expected to file a friend of the court brief on apple' s behalf. apple is asking a federal judge to reverse an order that requires the company to help the fbi hack into an iphone used by one of the san bernardino shooters. apple accused the government of seeking dangerous power through the courts and trying to tamper with people' s constitutional rights. of course we will continue to follow that story for you. outside, it is a little bit cooler today. kevin: we have a lot of everything this week.

>> now, meteorologist kevin skarupa with your stormwatch 9 forecast. kevin: highs yesterday in a lot of areas in the 50' wind chills now in the single digits, teams to lower 20' s. a huge change over the last 24 hours over some areas where you were probably in shorts yesterday morning and then seeing snow late in the day. while that colder air continues to come in and now, we have seen some places report anywhere between 2.5 inches to as much as accumulation.

south, plenty of blue sky in southern areas. it is in the wind, which has been gusting over 30 miles an hour, producing that extra bit e to the air that continues. that breeze noticeable tonight, tomorrow, all the way through the weekend, and likely into monday with the next front approaching. you will notice play of clouds and snow showers being wrung out with the last of the moisture in the great north woods. weak enough high-pressure that we likely clear skies outcome of but we keep the wind going during the evening and overnight hours. storm tracker is not showing a lot of snow. obviously it is still snowing in the north direction, and we will see that light snow slowly wither away for the afternoon, early this evening before finally dying off. temperatures in the teens. in pittsburgh, the temperature there is 8. in southern spots, the wind, which has been sustained over 20

30 miles an hour, that number is purely on the thermometer. wind chill in the single digits up north, lower 20' s in southern spots. those numbers not improving through the afternoon much. look at the difference between a temperatures yesterday -- look at the difference between the noon time temperatures yesterday and today. as much as 45 degrees cooler. that is not even factor in the wind. coldest air along the entire lower 48 rotating through tonight with lows in the single digits above and below 0. s. tomorrow, wind out of the west southwest on a sunday. that is when we see another change in our weather back to the milder conditions. a a lot of sunshine expected over the weekend. we start chilly but with sunshine tomorrow and that breeze and at a few high clouds in the afternoon. the only chance of snow over the weekend will be a quick moving disturbance across the north early sunday.

on a southwesterly wind, a ridge of high pressure settles in. it will be brief with temperatures in the 40' s near 50, but then a quick moving front, it gets here early monday morning, likely in the form of a rain shower. all eyes on the next system sometime wednesday. by then, because the milder air is in place, chances that will stay in liquid form. tonight, single digits above and below 0. coastal plain in the lower range extended forecast as a chilly day tomorrow, warming by a solid 10+ degrees on sunday. let' s head to cook' s corner. erin: all right, fred manheck from celebrations kitchen in manchester is joining us israeli salad. what goes into this? fred: this is a classic middle eastern salad. you will find this type of salad

it is a little bit different than american-style in that all of the fresh vegetables are diced small and then toss with a very simple dressing. olive oil. it is really simple to do. if you, have any young, budding chefs, these vegetables are a because they are easy to cut. erin: so we have got peppers -- fred: peppers, onions, cucumbers, catch-up session erin: and some herbs. fred: just parsley and a little bit of dill. we shake this up. erin: you say just olive oil and lemon? fred: in this one, i put a little bit of sumac in a little bit of salt and pepper -- that is all. and then you just toss it. very healthy.

fred: you can actually make the lettuce roll ups. i have got some hummus right here. chickpeas. erin: that is great with the role of spirit of children love that. and this is something you can get at celebration. fred: yes. erin: you brought in a number of things that you are selling for families. fred: chicken parmesan with in a pasta -- with penne pasta. barbecue pulled pork with xavier mac and cheese,, xavier named after my grandson. erin: a lot of people are calling in for lunch, right? delivery now, so office groups or a couple of people to deliver it home -- absolutely. and eat as well. fred: yes. erin: what are the hours?
