hampshire. maybe you did wake up a lot earlier this morning due to all that wind out there. sean: mother nature was a little warm -- noisy last night. at one point, more than 11,000 people were in the dark. crews have a down to about 5000. erin: we want to pass along a two-hour delay for the conval regional school district. there is also no preschool in the district today. when is the wind going to die down, josh? josh: a lot of people reported that it sounded like a freight train in the distance waking them up.

the most ever in a month. the mayor is calling on the state to do more, right? ray: that' s right. the mayor is frustrated by the governor' s leadership in this case. he says it has taken too long to appoint a new drugs are. -- drug czar. while the governor has already signed a couple of bills to help deal with the drug crisis and more measures are pending, mayor gatsas says we are seeing too many overdoses and that there needs to be more over leadership -- more leadership in the state house. >> we are off to a record pace and not even a record i want to talk about. it is important that somebody needs to step up and challenge this at the top. ray: the governor' s office says she is interviewing people to fill the position as soon as

there were a total of 420 drug overdoses in the granite state last year and that averages out to a little bit more than 8 per week. sean: thanks. funeral services are today for fallen police officer ashley guindon. the merrimack high school graduate was shot and killed on saturday in virginia during her first shift as an officer. several members of the merrimack police department flew to virginia last night and others are driving down to pay their respects. the service is at noon in woodbridge, virginia. officer ashley guindon will be buried in west springfield, massachusetts next month. she will be buried next to her

committed suicide the day after he returned from duty. erin: super tuesday has finally arrived. the biggest day in the presidential primary. a dozen states are holding primaries or caucuses today with donald trump and hillary clinton poised to take firm control of their party nominations. stephanie: right here in virginia, voters can cast ballots starting at 6:00 this morning. as soon as polls close in all 12 states, we could effectively have a nominee for both parties. the biggest voting day of the year leading up to the general election. voters in a dozen states and a u.s. territory will go to the polls today with 1610 delegates at stake. >> i will not compromise away your religious liberties.

results will start showing up on the bottom of your screen at 8:00. then there will be a special at 10:00 breaking down super tuesday voting. we will have a full recap at 11:00 on news 9. sean: the tilton man faces charges after a domestic incident late last night. police talked 26-year-old nicholas godbout out of his home overnight after his roommate reported hearing a shotgun go off during a fight with a woman. no one was hurt and he is due in court. six months have passed since a manchester woman was shot and killed while taking a walk and there have not been any arrests. 62-year-old denise robert was murdered on the night of august 30. police and the fbi have searched the area multiple times, but the gunman remains at large.

the san bernardino shooter. an attorney in mississippi is suing the state' s governor saying that the mississippi hate speech. lawmakers in mississippi killed several bills concerning the flag design last week. erin: there is a new push to accelerate plans to bring manchester. the group of politicians and business leaders are asking the government to spend $4 million study. a house committee in concord as today. the board of the mbta has decided to end late-night service on the tee. they say they can' t continue to subsidize the service. they are already considering

the service will end on march 19. sean: it seems that braces are not just for humans. a veterinarian in michigan is offering braces for dogs. he said braces can be very important for some dogs if they are dealing with problems that affect their ability to chew. he said that doug braces are rarely for aesthetic purposes and are typically only worn for a few weeks, plus there is much less anxiety for a teenage dog human. t necessarily know that, do you? i wonder if they get the [laughter] josh: you know or they go to put those on? they had over to the orthdo o-dog-tist. josh: you can see the areas where the colder air has pushed in in this redder color. the blue is indicating 20' s. the cold air is being pushed in by the wind, which has really picked up. maybe you were awakened overnight by some of these gusty winds. still seeing gusts as high as 30 miles per hour. the peak a couple of hours ago, we saw winds gusting as high as 50 miles per hour. you may even find a couple around your property on your way into work or when you get home. the winds, at least, calming down. a look at the front. you can see the cold front pulling away. clear skies have pushed in. that and a few remaining clouds

a wintry mix, as they say. mostly rain in southern new hampshire. look how fast it advances to the north. maybe a dusting to an inch in central new hampshire. a couple of inches possible in northern new hampshire. by 9:00 or 10:00 tomorrow morning, it is over to rain in northern new hampshire, as well. in terms of any accumulation, maybe a coating which gets washed away and the rest of central new hampshire. late this week, here is another weather system that will be coming close by. this one looks like a near miss right now. but it will be so close that we have to watch it just in case it jogs a little bit north. if it jogs even just 50-100 miles north, we could be talking

>> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now, wmur news 9 daybreak. erin: good morning. beautiful sunrise over the seacoast on this first day of march. we are waking up to some cooler temperatures out there and a whole lot of wind overnight knocked out power to several thousand. sean: they are working to restore that as we speak. state police are investigating a crash on route 108 in kensington that left two people dead.

manchester during february, the highest number of suspected drug overdose that to happen in one month. portsmouth police are investigating possible vandalism that forced the skating rink to close for the season at strawbery banke. erin: strong winds knocked out power to over 11,000 customers overnight. that number is now down to about 4000. conval high school has a two hour delay. josh: how did you not hear the wind? erin: i did not hear it at all. i must have been super tired. south at a high rate of speed when it went off the road and slammed into some trees. all three people were thrown from the toyota. two of them died at the scene. the third victim was thrown -- flown to a boston hospital with life-threatening injuries. the month of february set a disturbing record in manchester. erin: it was the worst month on record for the number of suspected overdose deaths. 60 overdose in the queen city last month, 14 deadly. ray brewer joins us live in manchester. the mayor is criticizing the state' s response to this ongoing crisis. ray: the governor in particular, the mayor saying that governor maggie hassan is not doing enough to deal with the crisis. he is particularly frustrated with the governor not appointing a new drugs are just yet -- drug

there have been 14 suspected opioid-related deaths, two more than the previous one month record of 12 set in march of last year. american medical response says the addiction crisis is getting worse. >> i' ve never seen it like this before. ray: on monday, manchester mayor ted gatsas called out the governor for not filling the drug czar position. gatsas says more leadership is needed in the state house. >> we need to start telling people that if you are caught dealing fentanyl in the state of new hampshire, you will be arrested for attempted murder. that is what is going to slow it down. ray: a spokesperson for governor hassan said she signed to bills to combat the crisis and there are several other measures before the legislature. her office says that if mayor

s second deadly overdose this year. a 22-year-old woman found unresponsive and a night at a home on sommer street was pronounced dead. another woman in the home was also overdosed but was treated and released. a barrington woman is facing up to 20 years behind bars after pleading guilty to selling heroin. crystal watson was selling the drug. officers seized more than $244,000 in cash and more than 500 grams of heroin. portsmouth police are investigating a possible case of vandalism that forced the liberty family skate to shut down for the season. erin: the rink at the strawbery banke museum was shut down after it was tampered with. it appears that someone opened a valve, spilling about $10,000 worth of glycol onto the ground. typically, glycol runs through plastic tubing under the rank,

the president and ceo say they are checking a webcam to find a possible traitor. sean: the state position during seacoast families that it will continue to monitor an increased number of cases of pediatric cancer after releasing a study that looks into possible causes. the request was made in early with a rare form of soft tissue cancer. as to the cause, the state looks into concerns of environmental issues like contaminated water discovered in a pease well. >> we found out that it was more genetic taste -- based, which was a big relief. stillness completely relieved because it is a cancer. it is a cancer in our community.

to dominate most polls. he is ahead by double digits in a number of states, including massachusetts and virginia. since it will hand out the most delegates. many polls show ted cruz leading in his home state. for democrats, hillary clinton is pulling ahead and a lot of the southern super tuesday states, while bernie sanders is of vermont. sean: donald trump has been what happens if he wins most of them? with that be a? -- with that be it? among some in the republican party, so they are trying to do with they can to stop that. even if trump wins pretty big today an analyst tells us there is still a path to the candidates, although it could be a much narrower and much more challenging path.
