erin: good morning, new hampshire. we hope you had a nice, long holiday weekend. sean: turns out the weather was nice. out on the seacoast is still seeing some surf. kevin: the surf could be five to ten feet today. it is interesting. certainly more than we're used to normally. we could see dangerous rip currents at times. there's a high surf advisory in effect. stop the presses and check this out. a couple of rain showers during the overnight hours. that's sweet music to a lot state that have been the most drought affected in far southern new hampshire. they really made it up about as far north as manchester or so. we'll widen the view. you can see the spinning action going on right there to the south of new england. it will stay there now for a day or two before it begins to peter out and drift away over the next couple of days.

network, i'm deb davidson. erin: we begin this morning with break news. the attorney general's office is investigating a suspicious death. sean: that's right. it happened in danville. we are joined live by ray brewer with what we know about the case. ray: the attorney general's office office is releasing little information. there's a state police cruir scene tape up behind me. once again the attorney general's office releasing very little information ordinary reason to say they are investigating what is being called a suspicious death. they are not saying whether or not the victim was male or female or how they might have died. we're hoping to learn more information later on today. reporting live in danville, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: all right. thanks. this morning we're

suspicious death in dunbarton. 38-year-old wendy teft died of a single gunshot wound last night. harridanner is death is still unclear. she was a kindergarten teacher at glen lake school. the ag's office hasn't said whether anyone has been arrested. away. calling hours are from 4:00 to 8:00. funeral services will be tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. he was 73. sean: we're continuing to fall the latest on tropical storm hermine. watches are in place throughout new england, in new hampshire a high surf advisory is in effect.

to worsen today. visitor wills not be allowed to swim in the water. this decision happens only once every three or four years. sean: commencing tomorrow, tuesday, bathing at hampton beach will be totally restricted. not allowed. sean: now the beach will be will bemain open. life guards will remain on duty to keep people out erin: many have gone back to class. students in districts like manchester will head back today. across the country close to 50 million students will attend public schools this fall. 4.8 million private schools. that's a slight drop from last night. the average cost from war elementary student is $657. middle school isers $970.

$1,500 for high schoolers. crowd sources has become a resource struggling to make sure their students have enough supplies. contributions on go fund me totaled more than $140 million last year. it is expected to be higher this year. sean: a fire in laconia is under investigation in morning. it started in one of the secondary buildings monday evening. firefighters say bystanders were able to put out most of the flames with fire extinguishers. the unit no word yet on what caused the fire. right now a 47-year-old man is recovering after police say he accidentally amputated his foot with a chain saw. it happened in newton. officials say an ambulance was sent to the scene just before 4:00. no ward on the current condition or if his foot was able to be saved. erin: police arrest a man in connection to the theft of a tip jar. they say that

erin: the "richmond times" dispatch endorsed johnson for president. the editorial contrasted him with donald trump and hillary clinton saying that both lack the proper character traits to be president. it also called f nationally televised debates. sean: bernie sanders visited the granite state. he attended a rally in lebanon, campaigning for hillary clinton. sanders spoke to about 700 people saying he thinks democrats will sweep the election. he talked about finding ways to make america more equal for everyone. >> we've got to continue the pressure. we've got to continue the grassroots mobilization to make

erin: firefighters spend the night at a scrap yard making sure a fire does not ignite. they spent the area because of the toxic smoke. unfortunately it took hours to battle the flames. two hydrants in the area were not working. crew hads to lay down around 2,000 feet of sean: today bill cosby's lawyers could ask a judge to throw out two key pieces of evidence. one is a deposition that cosby gave in a 2005 lawsuit by accuser andrea constand where he talked about having extramarital affairs and giving women drugs with their consent. the other piece of evidence is a recording because constand's

shut down after more than $1 million worth of marijuana was found in the backyard. police in west haven found 600 plants, some up to ten feet tall. they found the marijuana growing during the check and called police. police found a newly built fence that kept the marijuana plants hidden. no arrests have been made. suspects face several felony drugs by a minor and operating a drug factory. sean: organic gatorade will be in select markets this fall. it comes in three flavor, strawberry, lemon, and mixed berry. only seven greens are used to make it. erin: those flying a certain airline today will want to check their flights before leaving the house. british airways is reporting problems with his computer systems at

some passengers experienced check-in delays overnight and long lines were reported at several airports. british airways says they are working to resolve the issue but again if you are flying british airways, you want to check the flight before you head to the airport. erin: i think a lot of kids will be checking the bus stop. almost everybody is back to school today. the weather is pretty good. rain, huh? josh: a couple of showers have been around. that's good news. there could be some couple of days. here's the current temperatures. not quite as chilly as it was yesterday morning at the time. still it feels a little bit cooler out there. and we show the dewpoints bauds they are starting to rise after being so dry, we are seeing them rise through the 50's and into the lower 60's going through the day today. they make it into the 60's. check out the next few days after that. it is going to be a humid couple of days. quite often after he see

possibility. it is farther south they have tropical storm warnings in effect. there they will see the seas much rougher like they did yesterday. yesterday they had top winds in nantucket of 60 miles per hour. not quite as strong. these are the current winds in the edgen right now. you can see the wind gusts are 25 to 30 miles per hour. it would probably be a little stronger at times today. not too bad. the biggest effect is the ocean. the ocean swelling up to five to ten feet around here and much areas farther to the south. the storm itself still at 65 mile per hour winds. that's no slouch. that's close to hurricane force. 74 miles per hour is the lower threshold to become considered a hurricane. it is a post-tropical storm because its lost its characteristics of tropical characteristics. it is not symmetrical and rain and clouds the same around. that's why it is called a post-tropical storm.

40-year-old man from dover dead. erin: all right. we're going to see some pretty big waves at the beach. josh: hampton beach and maine seacoast under the high surf advisory. dangerous rip currents also a possibility. of the temperatures though this morning are in the 50's and 60's. you'll notice more humidity in the air. particularly in the spots that saw some rain. this is not much. yesterday there was at bit of rain and there couple hundredth of an inch. we'll take any drop we can get. certainly there could be more today during the day as well. there's a look at storm. you can see it is spinning in. looked like it was heading out to sea. right on course turned to the west. and it will kind of sit there as you can see for a couple of days. there's that surf advisory for today. keep it in mind that it will be a little rough. i'm sure they won't let

riding accident. the funeral home released the obituary of 4-year-old mckenna may holder. she was thrown from the horse while she was taking part in the white mountains horse show. she will be remembers as a happy little girl with a spit-fire personality. calling hours 5:00 to 8:00 tonight. a gravesite service will be held tomorrow morning at sean: a third death associated with tropical storm hermine has been reported. authorities say a south carolina man was killed when he was hit by a car while trying to remove a tree that fell on the highway. a truck driver was killed when the powerful winds tipped over. and in florida, a man died after being hit by a falling tree. the remnants are prompting more warnings.

the accident happened around 4:15 yesterday afternoon near the rochester country club. it appear that is a harley-davidson was heading south when it went aof the road and hit the guardrail. two people on the bike were thrown. the operator was killed in the crash. his passenger, 40-year-old was taken to the hospital with serious but injuries. erin: an accident she suffered in a jetski accident. the marine patrol says 23-year-old was stopped in winter harbor yesterday afternoon when another jetski hit her while traveling about 15 miles per hour. cotton was taken to the hospital with a leg injury. no one else was hurt. erin: state police are on the lookout for a pembroke man that led them on a chase. it started on i-93.

jacob jason. shortly after being stopped, jason took off. he eventually hit some stop sticks before crashing on the exit 13 off ramp and taking off on foot. anyone with information on his whereabouts are asked to contact the state police. erin: voters across the state will cast the ballots in the primary one week from teed. this is the last day to register with the secretary of state. you can still register toot you'll have to show an approved voter id or sign an affidavit, have your picture taken, and verify your identification with the secretary of state. there's an exempt for voters who have religious objections to being photographed. sean: state tourism say this may have been the busiest labor day weekend in new hampshire history.

josh: good morning. welcome back. 64 degrees in manchester. it is warmer than yesterday. not quite as dry. the humidity levels are rising. and a couple of rain drops were falling overnight. not a lot. as you can see, there was a little bit in the southern part of new hampshire and much needed and welcomed. even though it didn't amount to all that much. it is all, of course, connected right there to post tropical storm hermine spinning and turn south. because of that today, there will be extra clouds in the southern and south eastern parts of the state with a shower or two. coolest there and warmest as you head farther to the north and west. sean: thanks. labor day now in the rearview mirror, it is back to work. they are returning to washington. nikole with a look at the major things on their to-do list. reporter: topping the

vietnam war. erin: police are searching for the vandals who destroyed a landmark. they captured the vandals knocking over the duckbill rock. at first officials thought the rock formation fell due to erosion. after seeing the video, they realized that wasn't the case. they spoke tohe revenge after a friend broke his leg. >> to know it is gone forever because someone chose to knock the rock over is wrong. erin: once identified the people response will face hefty fines and possibility criminal charges. sean: now that school is back in session, there are growing concerns over the spread of so-called super lice. the bugs have built up a tolerance to drugs and can no longer be eliminated with chemicals.

san diego. drew was back for the first time since san diego traded him to boston in july. in the fourth, adam rosales goes deep. putting the padres up by two. in the top of the eighth, chris young hit a solo homer. that's all the offense the red sox would get. the last place padres went on to win the game 2-1. erin: in the fisher cats season ollie the bat dog. the 8-year-old retriever is retiring after spending the last six seasons. as for the game, the fisher cats took on the portland sea dogs. new hampshire was down when amelia hit his fifth home run. the fisher cat ended up winning it 3-1. they finished with 69 wins and 73 losses, ending fourth in their division. sean: runners and walkers,

5k run at the pease international trade port. yesterday was the 20th running of the road race. it is an important fundraiser for the st. charles children's home which provides behavior treatment to children that allows them to better integrate into the school systems. >> i think it is important because they do a wonderful work with the community. we picked up some of the -- they have a run for god also group up here. we picked up one of their bracelets. it is nice to do faith and d do for the community as well. it is a wonderful thing. sean: sure. since its first running in 1997, the event has raised more than $150,000. erin: another charity run was held at storyland yesterday. this was the scene at annual labor day fun run hosted by memorial hospital. the race is part of the hospital's let's go initiative to reduce childhood obesity. more than 400 kids ages 1-12 took part in the event.

this morning. .06 of an inch in ports mouths. you are probably really excited about that. we had a few showers roll through just the southern part of the state and far southern parts of the state here. a look at the doppler radar. you can see there's been a few around. it sure looks nice to see that green on the map again even in its limited form. there's more of it to the south. sitting and spinning there. it will do t breaks down and begins to pull away. because of it though of course it is turning up the ocean. that's the biggest effect on anywhere in new england. it is turning up the ocean. higher swells and dangerous rip currents. that's why they are keep the beaches closed in many spots, including new hampshire here as well with the high surf advisory for today. and a tropical storm warning in effect still today for the cape,

and new york and new jersey. here's a look at the current wind gusts they've had just in the last 15 or 20 minutes or so. they were much stronger yesterday. yesterday nantucket logged a wind gust. there's a lot of trees and damage down in the areas. it is calmer now. still windy and the seas are still churning as well. current stats it is still a strong storm. 65 miles per hour. we call it characteristics. it is just as strong. it is almost hurricane strength. about nine more miles per hour. this thing would be a hurricane. look at it now. it turned yesterday. now it is heading west. it is expected to slow down and sit there until it just sort of fizzled out. look at it sitting and spinning today and tomorrow. it fizzles away and beginning to pull away. a closer look at that here from the point of view with the weather

for today. the farther north and west, the chance of seeing breaks of sunshine. the chance of scattered showers today or sprinkles. more possible tonight. it is nice to see those on the map. for tomorrow more scattered showers a possibility at times but also turning sunny in northern and western new hampshire. we start to warm up from there as we go deeper and deeper into the day. your high temperatures for today are going to be in the 70's. lower 70's the north and west. you see there we get closer to 80 degrees. a couple of spots could get to the lower 80's today. well inland. tomorrow up we're near 80 with scattered showers. late this week we warm up again. the humidity turns up. it feels like it did a couple of weeks ago for at least a few days. erin: summer is not officially over yet. they are spending the end of summer with a free give away.
