home on mill pond road around 1:00 this afternoon for reports of a suicidal man. that triggered a shelter in place for all people who live in this area. police tell us they tried to get to the man and talk him out of the situation but they had no luck, the man was later found dead inside his home to an apparent suicide. police are not releasing any more information on that individual while they continue to notify family members, all of this of course triggering horrific memories of when officer stephen arkell was killed. >> it's scary, you know, when you don't know what's going on. that was horrific, because it was so violent. but the explosion too was incredible. you don't forget that kind of stuff. >> honestly the guys did a fantastic job, i don't think anybody even thought about that while this was going on. they may reflect on that now.

back into their homes around 4:30 this afternoon. police expect to release more information later on tonight. live in brentwood, i'm cherise leclerc, wmur news 9. tom: tonight an east kingston man has been charged with six counts of possession of child sexual abuse images. police say his arrest comes after an investigation that lasted several months. wmur's jennifer crompton is live at the police department with more. reporter: this investigation involved several police departments asel f.b.i., following a tip from the new hampshire internet crimes against children task force. 44-year-old chris murphy of east kingston was arrested early wednesday morning at his home. >> we were able to have the suspect stand aside and we went the and cleared the house and then began our search for the contraband that we were looking for.

find? >> no. reporter: police say it was in plain view. >> we were able to find on initial search we found approximately six videos, images of child pornography. reporter: east kingston police say they were tippedded off by the new hampshire internet crimes task force. >> it was a single family residence and it appears he was the only one with acc portion of the house where we found the computer and other images. reporter: they don't expect more arrests, but say the investigation is ongoing. >> this is really in its infancy. we actually seized some computers and some other media to where images and videos could be stored on. reporter: murphy is an employee of the wmur sales department and has been suspended pending the outcome of this case.

wasn't officially decidedded until today. the votes were so close that frank edelblut didn't concede until this afternoon, offering his full endorsement to chris sununu. as adam sexton tells us, this sets up a race that will be watched very closely. reporter: it's sununu versus van ostern, a contest patrioting a political dynasty against a savvy campaign operative. and it's a matchup some predicting for this cycle as far back as 2014. this afternoon frank edelblut concededded the republican race for governor to chris sununu, who wasteddedded no time pivoting to the general election and his democratic opponent. >> we're going to continue talking about issues, talking about things that matter, talking about plans to get our stagnant economy going again. my guess is they'll do anything they can to avoid talking about those issues. reporter: the executive

live web cam network. it's mainly dry in many parts of the state once again, as many have missed out on the latest rain chance. what does that mean for later on tonight? the skies clearing, temperatures fall off, most of the heavy action is over the coastline, cape and islands, ready to scoot out to sea in the next couple hours. before that cold front moved through, take a look at where temperatures topped off at, 80 or above lakes 87 along the coast, just shy of a record there as well. right now much cooler in many spots, near 60 along the canadian border, upper 60's and lower it 70's elsewhere, all due to the fact that the front has moved through. many spot did get a little rain, and of course cooler air is building in from the north. also much much dryer, the humidity that we had had earlier

the boards as well as dry air builds in from canada and that will linger right into friday and first half of the weekend. tonight mainly clear skies develop after the next couple of hours, the clouds give way, patchy valley fog late. around 40 along the canadian border, and seasonably mild air builds in for tomorrow, and then very chilly for tomorrow night. we could actually see the first frost of the season in parts of northern new hampshire a temperatures really fall even colder tomorrow night. as you can tell with high pressure building in, cold front slicing to our south, that means we're in the high and dry for the next several days and with that front moving off shore that will squash any possibility of this tropical storm julia with top winds of 40, just southeast of savannah, of coming up the coastline. trorl warnings in effect for the carolina coast, georgia coast

to flooding in some areas to our south. the next drought update comes in tomorrow morning and will likely be expanded or stay the same. that men's the extreme drought lingers over southern new hampshire. fair skies again tomorrow night, very chilly with some frost up north. back into full sun on friday, and temperatures jump a little bit above the average. once we get past the weekend it will be milder for next rain chance, as we go into saturday night and sunday, the next system moves on in. hopefully we get some rain out of this, although of course it does fall during part of the weekend, for those that have outdoor plans saturday is the pick of the two. i don't see a washout on sunday, but there will be showers here and there. an early shower monday, then it dries out. tuesday and wednesday about 10 degrees above the average
