on the car stopped in the middle of the street. investigators not releasing any details. they are simply telling us they will release more once detectives assess the situation. officers were seen talking to the people in the area. many of the people said they were too scared to speak on camera. >> i grew up here. i was born in manchester. i grew up on the west side. but it -- it happens everywhere; right? this never on. really it was -- i don't think it's been ever this bad. ray: police have investigated several cases of shots fired in the city in the last week or so. is unclear if any there's connection to any of the incidents. we're hoping to learn more information, including the condition of the person who was taken to the hospital.

sean: the spotlight in the race for the white house returns to new hampshire today with donald trump and tim kaine in the granite state. kaine will speak at exeter. trump is holding a rally at the middle school. you need to get tickets. hillary clinton is returning a she got sick. she released several medical records yesterday showing she's healthy and ready to go. but the democrats still has some big name support here in new hampshire. yesterday actress molly ringwald hit the campaign trail in support of clinton. she says she feels it is her civil duty to get politically active. >> i'd like to do a lot more actually. it is hard work.

gratifying because it is so important. hillary, to me, is the person who represents my values the most as a candidate. sean: for the first time in more than 100 years, the state's largest newspaper is not endorsing a republican for president. instead the "new hampshire union leader" says the only choice is libertarian gary johnson. the paper says it refuses to choose between the it says there's a reasonable alternative in johnson. erin: the drought continues to get worse. now one community is providing help to those whose wells have run dry. anyone in the town of kingston can go to the local fire department and use a dedicated spigot to get water. they have heard from several people who have ran out of water. we spoke with one woman

later on tonight and early morning. changes what it means for the weekend forecast coming up. sean: thanks. speaking of the seacoast, another large deep sea creature washed up on a beach in rye. erin: it was a sword fish which is usually found in deep water, miles from shore. the science center says the sword fish has no visible marks or injuries. they discovered signs of infection that may have disoriented the 300-pound fish. >> the 12 never seen a sword fish in person a live one or dead one wash up. this is very rare to see something definitely this big and this type of fish. it is usually found much farther off shore. erin: you remember earlier this summer a 40,000-pound humpback whale also washed ashore in rye. sean: the smithsonian is set to

the first family got a sneak peak inside the african-american museum of history and culture which has 12 exhibits and more than 180 videos. it showcases the challenges and contributions of african-americans. and the displays include things like a segregated railway car, and chuck berry's convertible. >> we want to talk about the challenges and also the w created their own communities and institutions and found ways to thrive. sean: the new museum opens september 24th. president obama is scheduled to speak at the dedication ceremony. erin: boston is full of history. one part is being celebrated. the first and oldest light house turned 300 years old yesterday. boston light sits on a small island in boston hear harbor.

erin: a man in california says a cabin he was building has been stolen piece by piece if you can believe it. he started building the cabin about a year ago. the summer the dry wall was stolen days after it was delivered. over the course of the next few weeks, thieves took everything, including tools, doors, windows, and the lumber, even walls that had already been framed. yeah.

a new study questions the need to treat early cases of prostate cancer. the ten-year survival rate is about 99%. no matter if patients choose to get surgery or radiation or to simply closely monitor the disease. it did worsen for patients in the study who only monitored the cancer. those who got treatment faced more serious side effects. the nfl is aimed at preventing, diagnosing, and treating concussions and head injuries. the league to hire a physician as the chief medical officer and provide $100 million to support engineering, advancement, and medical research. erin: uber has officially launched its first fleet of self-driving cars. customers in pittsburgh can get a ride in an

morning chillier than this. we are looking at the cool air to continue to rush in. a completely different air mass out of central canada. it will be around for a day and a half. we're in the dividing line between the late summer temperatures and the cooler air coming out of canada after the quick-moving cool fronts. had one come through yesterday. at most a quick third of an inch of rain. now that by the boards. that leaves us with a good deal of sunshine after t and what shown a pleasant, early, autumn feel. lower humidity levels and light wind. a good deal of sunshine. temperatures already this morning. i say already because likely tomorrow morning will be several degrees cooler than that. down into the upper 30's and either side of 50 in southern areas. a lot of 40's. anywhere north of the notches pretty good chance you'll have your first frost of the season. there will be a few

reporting stations we show here. those are the areas that have the chance of frost overnight tonight. dewpoints in the 30's to mid 40's. a very comfortable day on the way. we're not expecting the uptick in humidity. yesterday we showed you temperatures running about 15 degrees warmer than the day before. well, this morning we're running about 15 degrees cooler than we were yesterday morning. you'll notice as the cooler air rushes in, it is going to moderate by the time we get toward tomorrow afternoon. it will be temperatures in t we get toward the weekend. there will be a lot of location that is will briefly touch 70 degrees for an hour or two. likely 60's through a good part of the day after starting off in the 30's and 40's. sunshine today. chilly night out there tonight. 30's up north and upper 30's out west. back into the low to mid 70's with a good deal of sunshine. look for a general increase in high clouds later in the afternoon.

i think the better chance is going to be later saturday night into sunday. some scattered showers around with the next front coming through. temperatures won't be all that chilly behind that front as it makes its way through. we're expecting the potential of patchy frost out there in the north country. it will turn warmer tomorrow. low to mid 70's. we should be in the 70's for a good part of the weekend. if you have the choice between the two days, saturday is the better day. scattered showers are going to be possible hit-or-miss showers likely on sunday before pulling away early on monday. sean: it is going to feel different. kevin: that's with full sunshine too. sean: top stories with ray brewer. ray: the manchester police are investigating a shooting that had one person taken to the hospital. police called to the intersection just before 7:00 last night. they were on the scene for several hours. witnesses tell us that one person was taken to

car break-ins. the break-ins happened in the area of milton elementary school. they want to talk to the person seen here in the net toes. anybody who recognized him is asked to call the milton police department. erin: new this morning, a child had to be rescued after falling into assiege hole at a school in keene. the incident happened yesterday afternoon at fuller elementary school. when firefighters arrived, they say that the boy had his leg stuck in a hole up to his waist. him out in a matter of minutes. school staff says there was a small hole in the playground area marked with a cone. it opened up when the boy ran by it. sean: jury election is underway in the resentencing trial of gary sampson. sampson was sentenced to death after being found guilty of killing two massachusetts men in 2001. eight years later the federal judge overturned the sentence because a jury lied about the

asked if sampson should get the death penal or life in prison. sampson admitted to killing shortly after the other killings. erin: the daughter of ray charles is helping in the fight against the drug crisis. sheila ray charles joined a panel of health experts last night. she talked about developing substance abuse disorder and working to help people who are struggling with the issues. charles, who was addicted, says her recovery helped break the pattern. >> to be able to bring a message of love and hope and -- being in place where a generational curse has stopped, because we're talking about my grandparents had an addiction. my father had an addiction. my mother had an

mark payne, is facing murder charges. it shows him driving straight into the officers as they were standing outside of a convenience store tuesday night. one of the officers suffered a concussion. another suffered a broken leg. the third offer suffered minor injuries during a scuffle while arresting payne. erin: doctors in canada are allowed to prescribe heroin as a treatment for those who are addicted to the drug. they must apply f mission to offer a pharmaceutical grade heroin. the new regular laying says heroin can be prescribed to patients only under supervision in specialized circumstances. some studies show that prescription heroin can lead to a decrease in criminal activity and health care costs. sean: it is not unusual to have political talk in washington. last night one event was about making politics personal. lawmakers and even a few celebrities gathered to celebrate the second

deal of sunshine across the area after the clear skies overnight. that means that temperatures overnight will drop back between 32 and 37 in parts of the north country. the frost likely north of the white mountains. even a few western areas could get in dropping down to 36 to 38 later on tonight. lots of sunshine today though. a true fall feel to the air. 60's to lower range of the 70's. the chilly temperatures out there tonight. range from 32 up in pittsburgh to 38 patchy frost and a lot of sunshine friday and saturday. temperatures in the 70's. next front arriving on sunday. could be some showers as quickly as saturday evening. for the time being we have the clear skies. hardly a cloud in the sky this morning. we are expecting a good deal of sunshine. big area of high pressure in control through the day on saturday. ahead of the center of the high will be a little bit of a northerly flow today. that means with the light winds and temperatures climbing into the 60's to lower

tonight. as i mentioned if you want a pretty good representation of where you will be temperature-wise, maybe five degrees from these readings by this time tomorrow morning. because we will have that cooler start to the late afternoon hours. we've taken all night to get to these levels after climbing into the 80's yesterday in southern parts of the state. still 70's in central parts of the state with a passing shower and storm yesterday. notice up north we have temperatures in the 30's this morning. again you probably subtract about four, five, from the levels from what you'll have around tomorrow morning. visibility at places down to less than a mile early on. it is extremely comfortable. expected to remain that way through the weekend, despite the temperature climb. 60's to lower 70's out there this afternoon. bear in mind these highs occur 3:00 or 4:00 this afternoon. it is going to take all day to the get to the numbers top 60's for a good part of the afternoon before sliding back to the levels that
