team is meeting to discuss the management conditions and the impact on the state did the department of environmental services says the state has received half of the normal rainfall over the last six months and all residents and businesses are being asked to reduce water use. lake massabesic is down 49 inches, the lowest it's been in 100 years. also a concern is brush fires that will burn deeper because the soil is so dry making them tougher to put out. let's send it over to meteorologist kevin skarupa to see if we could get some relief this weekend. kevin: over the summer to break the drought but now we are getting into the season where the half-day to all day rain falls become a little more possible. and a decent sized soaking sometime sunday into monday is certainly a possibility as we get into a little bit of a pattern. temperatures after a cool start rebounding nicely. low humidity levels out there and light winds.

system starts to arrive. it is the system that slows down a little bit as it approaches. we will look into the weekend at the forecast coming up. sean: new at noon, the coast guard came to the rescue of three people on a 32-foot boat after it ran aground. it happened at around 7:30 this morning on the merrimack river just over the border in newburyport, massachusetts. two of the 3 people on board received cuts and ss they were taken to a hospital for treatment. an investigation is underway in dover after a car slammed into a building. fire officials say the driver was on route 155 yesterday afternoon when she went off the road and crashed into an apartment building. no one inside the building was hurt but the driver was taken to the hospital. the crash caused minor damage to the building. londonderry police are on the lookout for a hit & run driver now. they say a dark colored suv possibly a ford hit a man as he

the victim was taken to the hospital to be evaluated. officers say the vehicle that hit him has front end damage and a broken right headlight. just a day after donald trump made a campaign stop here in the granite state, the republican candidate is trading barbs with hillary clinton over his latest birther comments. abc's karen travers is in washington with more. karen: first for donald trump this morning, maximizbu for his new washington, dc hotel. mr. come: nice hotel. karen: and then this. mr. trump: president barack obama was born in the united states. period. karen: for years trump has refused to acknowledge that president obama was born in the united states despite all proof to the contrary. his statement today amounts to admitting the sky is blue.

with the mother and father of his victim watching, convicted murderer corey furgal entered a courtroom looking to have his sentence reduced. >> it was so hard to see that face after six years after he murdered my son. ray: furgal's defense attorney said there are several reasons why the 40 years to life sentence is excessive including furgal's long history of mental illness. >> it was while he was not being treated for his mental illness that mr. furgal committed the acts that resulted in his conviction for second degree murder ray: furgal crashed a merrimack halloween party back in 2009. while there he stole an ipod. as furgal was being confronted by angry partygoers, some brandishing bats, christopher vydfol tried to escort furgal off the property. >> when mr. vydfol bear-hugged him, he was afraid and he pushed out with the knife that happened to enter in the worst possible place. >> it's clear from the evidence at trial that this was a crime of anger, that the defendant

general susan morrell prosecuted the original case. she agrees that the sentence is severe, but says it's warranted given the fact that furgal had 12 prior criminal convictions, before committing murder. >> he was given every opportunity, told you will do this or else and he continued to commit more crimes. ray: and his victim's mother says she hopes the judge leave murdered, he didn't have rights, he did have appeals, he didn't have parole. ray: she says a letter of apology and remorse from furgal won't bring her son back, but it would help. reporting live in concord, ray brewer, wmur news 9.
