towns have now stepped in to help. good evening. i'm cherise leclerc. the dry conditions are causing several problems for firefighters. wmur's kristen carosa explains. kristen: emergency crews have stationed the vehicles in the street, and roughly two acres have burned so far half a mile from here and fires are burning deep did you draft conditions. -- due emergency vehicles from several surrounding towns have flooded this neighborhood on the manchester-hooksett line. >> they know what they're are doing and have it under control. kristen: catherine raddatz lives near where the fire is burning which was spotted by a hunter saturday afternoon fire officials do say people living in the area are safe. >> we have multiple companies there working the fire. kristen: fire officials believe the fire has been burning for several days and could have been caused by an unpermitted camp fire or a lightening strike. that is still under investigation.

conditions are making fighting this fire much worse. >> extremely labor-intensive to go through and physically take out the areas with foam and continue to go back and do the same thing over and over again. kristen: firefighters have set up portable pumps and are using water from beaver pond but this set up came with some challenges. >> we are still having some issues with the volume level of the pond. kristen: and that is becau affecting the way this fire is burning we are told its burning well into the trees root systems. >> once the trees are severed by the fire, the trees could fall at any time and that is a serious potential hazard, safety concern for us having firefighters working on the line. kristen: and with the concern comes a reminder about how dangerous the drought conditions are right now. >> we would ask people to be the extremely careful with fire

have gotten to a point where it is very difficult just to deal with some of the fires. kristen: fire officials say crews will be on the scene for the rest of the day today into tomorrow. again, no one in this area is at risk. cherise: some scattered showers moved across the state today, but not enough to improve how dry it is. a live look in meredith where skies are grey this evening. meteorologist hayley lapoint shows us how much rain we need hayley: we need way more than what we see -- received this morning. we will get a little more over the next couple of days. look at the totals, measly numbers and you can understand why even though it is what this morning, there are still brushfires. 0.12 inches, only .0 .01 inches in salem. manchester, 0.003 inches.
