officers were checking on the well being of christopher garon when they heard four or five shots fired. all this playing out just a couple hundred yards from homes. wmur's ray brewer is live at the scene of the standoff, and ray, i understand some bullets were found by a neighbor, right? ray: yeah, that's correct, sean. this is where the standoff took place. right there on the porch, th this is the unnerving discovery that shampoo gurunt's wife made on their porch. two unspent rounds that the family is sure weren't there prior to the incident monday night. hooksett police were called to the cul-de-sac at the end of campus drive around 9:20 after christopher garon's parents told officers that their son was despondent and armed with a semi-automatic rifle. >> they were looking for the male and they heard 4 to 5 rounds being discharged in close proximity to them. ray: so police backed off to the

circle and campus drive. and the manchester swat team was called in. >> throughout the whole time he was in contact with the swat team as well as our officers prior to the swat team's arrival. >> the subject sometimes say ok , sometimes say no, no, you going to shoot us. ray: gurunt says it was a dark night so he wasn't able to see much of what was going on but he could hear police negotiating. >> your gun, will help you." they are very kind encouraging him not to harm and to try to help. >> he seemed fairly upset, pacing back and forth with the firearm in his hand. ray: gurunt says he eventually went to bed and when he woke up around 2:30 the police were gone. the standoff coming to an end around that time. >> he was able to come closer to

surrendered without incident. ray: garon currently being held at the merrimack county jail, scheduled to be arraigned at 1:00 this afternoon on charges of felony reckless conduct, and disorderly conduct. reporting live in hooksett, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: new york city's chelsea neighborhood is getting back to normal just days after a bomb exploded right on the city's 23rd street. abc's maggie rulli is there with the latest on the investigation. believed to be responsible for this bombing in new york, two bombings in new jersey, and a manhunt that ended in a shoot out with police is 28-year-old ahmad khan rahami. a naturalized american citizen born in afghanistan. rahami seen here in his high school yearbook in edison, new jersey, and worked at his family restaurant, american fried chicken. >> i've been living here for

to make sure rahami was working alone and trying to find out more about the true to afghanistan. rahami is still not cooperating. sean: and here at home, there's no direct threat but state officials are urging everyone to be on alert and to report anything suspicious. for race weekend at the new hampshire motor speedway, safety is the top priority. track officials say they can't discuss the specifics of their security plans but say they have been getting ready for this for , authorities right away. two women in salem are accused of trying to care for their babies while allegedly drunk at a local mall. salem police were called to the mall at rockingham park yesterday for reports of two intoxicated women with young children. when officers arrived, they allegedly found one woman laying in a puddle, holding an infant above her head. police discovered the women were the moms of the babies, who were 1 month and 4 months old.

taken into custody. the children were released to family. just into our newsroom, a manchester man is accused of going more than 100 miles an hour down interstate 89. it happened just after 6 this morning. troopers arrested alrick barnett on i-89 in warner after seeing his 2007 bmw swerving in and out of traffic. radar reportedly clocked barnett going 133 miles per hour in a 65 zone. he will face a judge in november. new details now. an early morning fire in derry is under investigation. firefighters from several towns were called to 23 hubbard hill road just after midnight for reports of a garage fire crews were able to keep the flames from spreading into the attached house there. the family of four and their dog were able to safely escape. no one was hurt and officials , say it appears the fire

injuries after he was struck by a car in manchester. police say the man was hit around last night near the shell 7:15 station on hanover street. he is being treated for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. no charges have been filed against the driver. state police are investigating a deadly accident between a car and a bicyclist in charlestown. troopers say 50-year-old lance torrey was riding his bike on en route 12 yeste he veered into the path of a car. torrey was pronounced dead at the hospital. police say it does not appear that any criminal charges will be filed. a man is accused of hitting a speed limit sign while being pulled over. merrimack police tried to stop a vehicle on daniel webster highway just after midnight. when richard dumond pulled over he allegedly pulled over on industrial drive and rolled into a sign.
