lawyers for the family of murder victim lizzi marriott and state prosecutors are asking the state supreme court to keep information about her sexual past private during the appeals process. just as it was during the trial of seth mazzaglia who is serving a life sentence for marriott's death. >> she's not gone, she was murdered. whether the victim was murdered or not makes no difference to victims' rights and the privacy and respect that should be to the victims. reporter: marriott, a 19-year-old university of new hampshire student, was killed in 2012 and her body was never found. mazzaglia was convicted in 2014. prosecutors are asking the supreme court for several things, including close for arguments before the highest court.

cost in terms of accountability, as justice lynn referred to that the public will never know whether this court's ruling was right or not. reporter: but lawyers for the marriott family say releasing personal, private information victimizes them all over again. and sends a bad message to others who may hesitate to come forward. >> is our court system going to be open to victims and a place that they can access justice, or are we to that? we cannot have a system that forces victims to sacrifice everything just to seek justice. reporter: the case is under advisement and no further hearing dates have been set. andy hershberger, wmur news 9. josh: tonight new details about a civil lawsuit against st. paul's school. the suit claiming negligence and breach of duty was filedded after owen labrie was convicted of misdemeanor sexual assault against a classmate. the school denies any responsibility.

lawyers for both sides met this afternoon. reporter: they did. the girls' parents are seeking in excess of $75,000. the lawyers met in chambers today, afterwards they told us that it was just a scheduling conference and neither party was present. in the wake of the civil lawsuit filed by her parents against st. paul's school, francesca prout did a nationally televised interview with nbc news saying she was ready to stand up and own her today in federal court lawyers for both sides met in judges chambers for a scheduling conference. prout's attorneys say discovery could take a year. the jury trial is slated for march, 2018. court filings state lawyers for the family plan to call students, former students, administrators, faculty and staff as witnesses, who have knowledge of the, quote, senior salute tradition where upper class men asked younger students out in a competition. but court documents reveal both

both parties have until februare a joint statement. st. paul's school categorically denies any breach of duty or negligence, and in court documents say that any harm that came to francesca prout was the result of actions by owen labrie. labrie is appealing his conviction. jennifer an emotional day in court as pay man pleads guilty girl. court documents say those assaults started when the victim was 5 and happened over the period of four years. wmur's kristen carosa takes us inside the courtroom tonight. reporter: it was an emotional day in court as christopher loni pleaded guilty to the sexual assault charges, he will serve at least 25 years behind bars. the victim's family says they're glad this is over. 44-year-old christopher loni of

assaulting a young girl he knew while living in rochester. >> she was about to relive her whole childhood, the worst parts of it, out loud, for hours. reporter: he pleaded guilty to five counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and will serve at least 25 years behind bars. the victim's mother says her daughter came forward three years ago when she was 14. she says the assaults date back to 2003. >> she hasn't been able to attend school, she sleeps most of the doesn't have friends. reporter: the victim's mother says she hopes her daughter will now be able to move on, knowing justice will be served. >> i'm hoping that i see her grow, five inches in every direction, and finish her education and find some hobbies. reporter: now loni could face additional charges, as prosecutor says he allegedly violated his bail before his trial was set to start. he was seen trying to obtain a

massachusetts. tonight we're learning that this mother could be facing criminal charges. the video shows the woman sprawled in the middle of a store siel. you can see her 2-year-old daughter crying and trying to wake her up. buy standers had already called 911 before this volunteer was recorded, but no one intervened. the police chief says the child has already been removed from her mother's cave. he says while tell vice difficult to watch, it is important t >> i can see there's value in the fact that people can see firsthand how debilitating and what this addiction causes. reporter: the chief says that endangerment charges are being sought against the mother but since they haven't been filed yet, her name has not been released. i'm shelley walcott. josh: tonight calms for justice in parts of the country after two deadly police shootings involving black men, one in tulsa, another in charlotte.

turned violent. but tonight is there a show of support for police that was planned well before these shootings. wmur's cherise leclerc is live in hollis where blue ribbons are being tied in town. we're having some technical difficulties there. but the massachusetts state police troopers wives supporting this initiative say this is not about politics or blue lives matter, it simply a show of love to people who protect and blue ribbon as cross massachusetts with the goal of tying them up in all 351 cities and towns. but now their mission has moved northward, in making new hampshire the 24th state to join the blue ribbon mission. jennifer: tonight they tied those ribbons up in monument square, this is in hollis, after getting approval from the select board. they'll also be putting up ribbons in brookline. >> the main message is a very

josh: it appears that independent first district congressional candidate sean o'connor will be on the november ballot. his eligibility had had been challenged by the new hampshire democratic party. and then the party asked the which they reaffirm today. o'connor switched his affiliation from democratic to inback in june. a group of volunteers were making a special place more beautiful today. jean: they took the time to cut and prune trees at the state veterans cemetery. it's all part of a national effort called saluting branches. they started the work at about 10:00 a.m. and worked right throughout the entire day. some of the jobs were small, others larger.

around. things be look clear, and pretty high confidence in that forecast as well. all depends on the atmospheric setup. temperatures still warm out there, after we reached the upper 70's and lower 80's in a lot spots. still most parts of the state we slowly drift down, it will be cool, but comfortably cool tonight, and tonight temperatures cool off more because of the dew points, whi fact the last several days thief been in the 60's. but today we're in 40's and 50's for dew points, that means much dryer air and that continues for the most part. the temperatures drop off through the weekend and next week, so very, very dry air, a very fall-like feel, crisp will be a word you'll use a lot this weekend into next week as well. for how that air feels.

high thin clouds. but those are actually part of former tropical storm julia which has been in the southeastern part of the nation, just sitting and spinning and delivering so much rain to these areas. in fact some areas down here have received more rain from julia than manchester new hampshire has received in the entire year, that's pretty incredible. but some of the cloud have come up and that's why we have the highic thin clouds dimming the sun a little bit today at times. to our west this front is is so warm right now, look how warm it is here, to our west, 80 to 90's, and it is noticeably cooler on the other side of this front and that is what will move in friday night and into saturday. we'll notice the temperatures dropping on saturday, and really dropping sunday. and much of next week as well. the only chance for showers will be friday, and not a lot for showers on friday. clear skies tonight and through

just a few passing clouds. here comes friday, we start off the day with that front approaching and friday morning even the early morning hours of friday you could see some showers and even some downpours in the northern half of the state. but it's southern new hampshire that we can't guarantee you'll see showers. look right here, future cast showing it drying up, not all of our computer models do that. we really need the rain, because next week is looking very dry as well. here's saturday, butoo through the day on saturday,s that new air mass moves in. so temperatures right now, in the 70's as we go through the nighttime hours those skies stay mainly clear and the temperatures drift down into the 50's to lower 60's. 40's in northern new hampshire, then tomorrow lots of sunshine, looks like a beautiful day, with temperatures in the 70's and 80's once again. so your low police the 40's to the north, 50's elsewhere. and here's a look at tomorrows high temperatures, again a warm
