from manchester to salem. we're not seeing any problems on 93. if you are out along the seacoast right now. 95 is moving well in both directions, heading into massachusetts we're not seeing any problems on 93, route 3, 95, or on 495. from the traffic network, i'm deb davidson. erin: thank you. the city of charlotte, north carolina is now under a state of emergency. the natnal guard was called out t second night of violent protests following a police shooting. sean: one person was critically wounded after what started as a prayer vigil. several other people were hurt. maggie rulli following the situation for us from charlotte. >> anger and violence taking over the streets of charlotte. four police officers are injury. this morning one

in the head, police say, by another civilian. the protests started peacefully. it quickly turned chaosic. police firing back with flash grenades and tear gas. the governor has declared a state of emergency. anger is building here over two starkly they confronted him inside a apartment complex. >> he exited his vehicle armed with a handgun as the officers continued to yell at him to drop the weapon. reporter: his family says that's not true, and claim it wasn't a gun, it was a book. >>ow, pow, pow, pow. that's it. he had no gun. >> the book fell off of his lap. he didn't get out waving no gun. he didn't get out like that.

reporter: the officer involved is also black. >> often times we try to make it a white/black issue. it doesn't matter if you are black or white. it is bigger than being black and white. reporter: there's dash and body camera. they are refusing to release the video until after the investigation. maggie rulli, abc news, charlotte. sean: unsettling video shows how bad the drug crisis has become. everyone needs to see the images, even though they are hard. erin: the video shows a 2-year-old child trying to wake her mother who is from salem and had overdosed on the floor of a store. ray: we want to assure you that the child in the video you are and to see is safe and no longer

revived. someone inside the family dollar store recorded the scene in the toy aisle sunday morning after someone had already called 911. police say a mother from salem overdosed and in the video her 2-year-old dauger can be scene pulling on her arm and crying out trying to wake her mother. the lawrence police chief says he's disturbed that no one comforted the child or checked on the mother. he thinks the video would help save liv. fact that people can see first hand how debilitating and what the addiction causes. >> there's hope for that mother and hope for the child. there's resources out there. for when the woman is ready that will help her and her family. erin: the mother's name hasn't been released yet. she hadn't been charged. he will likely face a charge of child

powerlines hanging low over the road. the car finally came to rest against the tree. the driver was treated at the scene. police in conway say this man gave marijuana to two kids, ages 10 and 11 in his care. 46-year-old ivan felder faces a list of charges, including sale of a controlled drug, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal threatening. manchester police say they found a meth lab inside a the unrelated investigation. the man who lives in the apartment, 42-year-old anthony elwell, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. sean: there's a wanted fugitive off of the coast of cape co a manatee has been spotted several times over the last month. as conveniencely as a few days ago. manatees are normally

the weekend forecast coming up. sean: cool night out there. tensions between police and communities are hh in parts of the country right now. there's a new effort to help peoe understand the life threatening duties facing law enforcement. erin: these blue ribbons are part of the nationwide initiative, sparked by a deadly ambush. back in march, thomas clardy was killed in the mass pike. since that time they have vowed hollis and brookline are the first towns in new hampshire to join. >> you are o loved, supported, appreciated, we want -- that's our message for the officers when they drive by and see a blue ribbon tied to a tree. erin: a fundraiser is planned for octob 8th to support the hollis and brookline police department. sean: the state cemetery is cleaner this morning thanks to a group of volunteers.

spent yesterday cutting and pruning trees at the cemetery there as part of the national effort called saluting branches aimed at honoring veterans. >> we wanted to get involved in the project to give back to the veterans for the day of service. we thought it was important to thank everyone for the service and that we make the cemetery a beautiful resting place for those who have given all for our country. sean: this is the second year for the project nationally and the f participated. volunteers worked at 34 locatis in 36 states. you have a certain set of skills. you found a way to help. er: great effort for the veterans. why disney is pulling an outfit before the new movie hits the big screen. sean: plus a unique tribute to david ortiz. the number of donuts

sean: a firefighter has died while helping battle a massive wild fire in central california. officials say ryan osler diedhen his water truck overturned miles from the front lines. the fire has burned about 19 square miles. there's a new statue depicting thomas edison. the likeness was dedicated yesterday inside statuary. each state is represented by two figure, edison and james garfield help ohio. new hampshire is represented by daniel webster and john stark. erin: disney says it will no longer sell a costume for the updated movie moana. it depicts a figure in polynesian tradition and

and long pants featuring long body tattoos. some say the costume is offensive. disney has apologized and says they have nothing but respect for the cultures that inspired the film. sean: the unemployment rate in new hampshire has ticked up slightly. ifou are looking for work, head to concord today. the state is hosting a job fair from 10:00 until 2:00. nearly 90 potential employers wille jobs covering a wide range of skills. there are new problems for blue bell. the company is recalling flavors of ice cream. the recall includes chocolate chip cookie dough and cookie new england.old here in a listeria outbreak forced blue bell to stop production and recall all of its products. erin: are you ready to tackle

fairly cool start. we're about five or seven degrees cooler than yesterday. just because the humidity continues to wane a bit. we are expecting a little bit of fog early this morning in a few western and northern areas. that will burn off rather quickly and set up sunshine. fall kicking in at 10:21 this morning. partial sunshine for the north country. mostly sunny skies elsewhere. today where the temperatures go anywhere from 78 to 86 this afternoon. next system approaches with an ias around the north country, overnight, and then a passing shower for central and southern areas tomorrow. that front means business with much cooler air by the time we get toward the weekend. notice the tperatures. there are no 60's here on the maps. ywhere from the mid 40's in some of the sheltered valleys and up thugh the north country down to 43. still hang on into the upper 50's in southern areas. lower50's. lower dewpoints out

driest, we were in the upper 40's for the dewpoints. look for it to remain about as comfortable into the afternoon. temperatures knocked back. we will continue to see the temperatures fall over the next seval days, despite the warm afternoon out there this afternoon. you can see how things are going to progress. a little bit warmer out there later on this afternoon. then the cooler air just waiting over the border up in southern parts of canada. the system the wind to the north for saturday and sunday. that's where the really cool air starts to come back in. 78 to 86 from north to south. look for the sea breeze at the coastline. partial sunshine up north with clouds moving in this morning. mostly sunny skies in southern areas. quite a few more clouds around tomorrow. the clouds increase later tonight. maybe a shower up north. better chance of a passing shower will be during the daylight hours tomorrow. the front comes through. northwest winds will start to pick up behind

people can peacefully have dialogue and move forward. and when i look at the pictures, it is just -- this is not -- this is not who we are. erin: along with the man that was shot, two other civilians and six police officers suffered minor injuries during last night's protest. sean: now to a story that police say needs to be told as new hampshire continues to battle the drug crisis. erin: unsettling video shows a 2-year-old tries to wake her sean: while the video is hard to watch, police say it needs to be scene to show how serious the drug crisis is. ray brewer live in the studio to tell us what authorities are saying about the mother and child. ray? ray: officials say the child in the video has been removed from her mother's care. police are not releasing the woman's name because she hasn't been charged yet. again we want to warn you the video we are about tohow you is difficult to watch.

lawrence, massachusetts, recorded this disturbing scene in the toy aisle sunday morning while bystanders called 911. police say a mother from salem overdosed. you can see here the 2-year-o daughter dressed in footy pajamas, tugging on her arm and crying out to try to wake up her mother. >> it is heartbreaking to watch the video. the child is not being taken ce of. ray: he says he's checked on the mother. first responders got there in time to administer two doses of narh -- narcan. the mother survived. they found drug paraphernaa in the diaper bag he doesn't believe in shaming addicts. he believes the video could save live. >> i believe there's value tt people could see how debilitating and what the addiction causes. maybe it is a message that, you know, stay away from these

rochester. the accident happened around 7:15 last night on washington street. police say 40-year-old gregory downing was on a motorcycle when he was hit by a car that was turning on to fareway avenue. the 17-year-old was issued a summons for failure to yield. a man from maine is scheduled to be sentenced tomorrow after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a young girl he knew while living in rochester. 44-year-old christopher will serve at least 25 years in jail for the assaults that date back to 2003. the victims mother say this has been very hard to get through. she hopes that her daughter can now move forward. >> i'm hoping that i see her grow five inches in every direction and finish her education and find some hobbies. erin: again a formal sentencing hearing will take place

for your help identifying a womanuspect of stealing a car and credit cards. police say these surveillance photos from walmart and t.j. maxx show a woman using the stolen cards. the victim says the cards were in her car when it was stolen for the parking lot, planet fitness in dover. they spotted the car and arrested the driver, 33-year-old michael page of raymond. he's now charged with receiving stolen property. the candia police department is asking the public clean following a rash of illegal dumping incidents. they say the items dumped includes tired, asbestos, roofing shingles, and household trash. anyone who sees someone dumping illegally is asked to contact the candia police department. erin: a school bus had to be towed away after slamming into a moose on i-93 last night. the accident happened just after 9:00 on the northbound side in sanbornton. state police are not saying if any students were on board.

anything, out of the southwest, push temperatures into the upper 70's to mid 80's today. yes, first day of autumn. we start that just before 10:30 this morning. although a strong cold front coming through tomorrow will make it feel more autumn like by the time we get toward the weekend with highs in the 50's and 60's. clouds have been building in up north. that gives way to partial sunshine. the rest of us should enjoy a sunshine. eventually the next system starts with an increase in clouds later on this evening and maybe some overnight up in the north country. temperatures are in the 50's early thi morning. lower 50's up and down the merrimack valley. certainly cooler than what we've had the last few mornings, even a few upper 40's in parts of the monadnock region. as we continue to watch the humidity fade away, drying out each afternoon, temperatures have bn cooling off. we are looking at the possibility by this te monday morning

still a few spots. contending with that about 10:00. dewpoints comfortable this morning and remaining that way through the afternoon. temperatures climbing away from the north country. you'll have extra clouds, and along with that giving way to partial sunshine. the best chance of a shower during the overnight hours will be up north. elsewhere just an increase in high clouds. temperatures will be in the 50's to lower 60's. still tomorrow. not everywhere and not all the time tomorrow. best chance early in the day will be up north. there could be a passing shower or a thundershower in central and southern areas as the front comes through later tomorrow afternoon. the skies will clear tomorrow night. that eventually sets up fair skies through a good part of the weekend. we may have some clouds early saturday in spots. i suspect those will clear rather quickly. wind out of the north will continue to bring in cooler air out of canada. as a matter of fact, high temperatures in the 50's and 60's both days over the weekend and
