erin: welcome to fall. sean: you never know what you are going to get from fall. enjoy the shorts. kevin: yeah. we've been losing the humidity higher earlier this week and along with that cooler temperatures. a lot less fog despite the clear skies in most locations. for a lot of folks, we're in the 50's. there are some 40's to be had up north and out west. temperatures through the afternoon going anywhere from the country with partial sunshine to mostly sunny skies and as high as 86 in southern areas of the state later on this afternoon. much more on the big change for the weekend coming up. let's look at your thursday morning ride here in the granite state. we're joined live by deb davidson. good morning, deb. deb: good morning, kevin. if you are traveling on interstate 89 or getting ready to, everything through concord. we're not seeing any problems around the

we're seeing building volume on exhibit one and at the 93 ramps. 93 south continues to be up to speed. it is about a 21-minute ride. once you cross the state line, several crashes with lane blockage. they are causing hefty delays. from the traffic network, i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. erin: the national guard was called to help restore order after the second night following a police shooting. sean: what started as a prayer vigil erupted into violence. maggie rulli is following the situation for us this morning from charlotte. reporter: anger and violence taking over the streets of charlotte. at least four police officers are injured. and this morning one

support after being shot in the head by another civilian. the protest started peacefully. but quickly turned chaosic. hundreds of protesters faced off against police in riot gear. some throwing fireworks. the police firing back with flash gore raids and tear gas. the governor has declared a state of emergency. anger is building here in charlotte over two different stories of h the police say they confronted scott inside an apartment complex and were forced to shoot. >> he exited the vehicle armed with a handgun as the officers continued to yell at him to drop it. reporter: police say a gun was recovered. his family says that's not true. it wasn't a gun, it was a book. >> pow, pow, pow, pow. that's it. he had no gun. reporter: now a neighbor who says she was there says there was no gun. >> the book fell off of

he got out like this. reporter: the officer involved in the shooting is also black. >> often times we try to make it a white/black issue. it doesn't matter if you are black or white. it is the uniform that you represent. we try to make it black or white. it is really bigger. reporter: there's dash and body camera footage of the shooting. they are refusing to release the video until after the investigation, angering some protesters even more. abc news, charlotte. unsettling video shows how serious the drug crisis has become. police say everyone needs to see the images to understand the severity, even though they are hard to see. erin: the video shows the 2-year-old child trying to wake her mother who was from salem and apparently overdosed on the floor of a store. wmur ray brewer has more. ray: we want to assure you that the child in the video you are about to see is safe, no longer

someone inside the family dollar store recorded the scene in the toy aisle sunday morning after someone had already called 911. police say a mother from salem overdosed and in the video her 2-year-old daughter can be seen pulling on her arm and crying out, trying to wake the mother. lawrence police chief says he's disturbed that no one comforted the child or checked on the mother. he thinks the video could help save lives. >> i could see that there's fact that people could see firsthand how debilitating and what the addiction causes. >> there's hope for the mother. and there's hope for that child. there's resources out there for when that woman is ready that will help her and her whole entire family. erin: the mother's name hasn't been released. she hadn't been charged. she will likely face a charge of child endangerment. they found drug paraphernalia in the diaper bag. once again the child is

brewer, wmur news 9. sean: thanks. a teenager from hooksett has passed away more than a week after she was hit by a car. 16-year-old jillian nelson was a junior at pinkerton and spent a week on life support at a boston hospital. she was an active member of the church and other members have set up a go fund me page to help pay for her funeral and other expenses facing a family. >> jillian was truly one of the sweetest girls she always thought of others first. truly service oriented. i've never seen someone -- as a teenager truly love their family as much as she did. sean: there are counselors available at pinkerton academy to speak with the students about her death. you can find a link to the go fund me page on our web site at w wmur. erin: police in laconia say a distracted driver crashed into a

in half. the car finally came to rest against the tree. the driver was treated at the scene. police in conway say this man gave marijuana to two kids, ages ten and 11 in his care. 46-year-old ivan felder faces a list of charges, including sale of a controlled drug, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal threatening. manchester police say they found a meth lab inside an apartment late tuesday as part of an unrelated investigation. the man whoiv anthony elwell was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. police say he was on probation for a prior conviction for possession of meth. sean: there's a wanted fugitive off of the coast. officials are getting worried. a manatee has been spotted several times over the last month or so. as recently as just a few days ago. manatees are found in florida.

sunshine doing its job. quite a bit of warmth. you'll also notice the very sharp difference in temperature right along the canadian-u.s. border. all we needs is a northerly wind and we start to see that later on friday afternoon. temperatures today upper 70's to mid 80's. 78 to 86 is the range from pittsburgh through nashua. even up north where you q morning, you'll have partial sunshine for the afternoon. clouds will continue to increase tonight. there may be a stray shower around overnight. otherwise we'll be looking at a front slowly sliding south through the day with a risk of a passing shower. the breeze out of the northwest will start to develop after that and that will start to bring in the cooler air that we'll have around through the weekend. there may be a few clouds around early saturday morning. that should be it. skies clear. we're looking at a good deal of sunshine with

northwest. that breeze will continue to cool things down saturday evening. by sunday we're talking highs from the mid 50's to mid 60's and the coolest of the nights will be with the lighter wind that will be around on sunday night and early monday. there could be some frost in some western and central areas of the state. they haven't seen it yet. first day of autumn. it won't people like it today. low to mid 80's before cooling off. look for some high clouds to increase. maybe a couple of showers up north overnight or early tomorrow morning. risk of a passing shower along the front tomorrow for the first full day of the fall subpoena. from there, clearing skies early saturday, setting up fair skies for the weekend. a pretty good breeze out of the north both days and a lot of sunshine into tuesday ahead of the next quick-moving front which would keep temperatures fairly similar as highs in the 60's through a good part of next week. high temperature right around 70 is where we should be for this time

watch it live right here on wmur. hillary clinton and donald trump will go head to head at hofstra university in new york. the 90-minute debate starts at 9:00 p.m. erin: new on "daybreak," a man is recovering after suffering serious injuries in a crash in rochester. the accident happened about 7:15. 40-year-old gregory downing was on a motorcycle when he was hit by a car that was turning on to fareway avenue. he was taken to but non-life threatening injuries. the 17-year-old was issued a summons for failure to yield. sean: dover police are asking for your help identifying a woman suspected of stealing a car and credit cards. police say these surveillance photos from walmart and t.j. maxx show a woman using the stolen cards. the cards were in the car when it was stolen in dover. officers spotted the car in exeter and arrested the driver. 33-year-old michael

12 hours after the driver exits the vehicle? erin: the heart of a roman catholic saint was on public display in massachusetts. hundreds of people lined up at a church in boston to get a glimpse of the heart of saint padre pio. this is the first time the religious relic has left italy. saint padre was best known for the wounds of jesus christ. strength. he spent many, many years going through the passion of christ not being believed that he was close to god. erin: he died in 1968. he was canyonized in 2002. his heart will be on display in brain tree massachusetts today and then it heads to the cathedral of holy cross in boston. sean: crossing guard in los

fog this morning and up north. the humidity has continued to lower over the last couple of days. make for a very comfortable and warm afternoon. the warmer days this time of year very different than the warmer days you have in the middle of july. where you have the heat around from 11:00 in the morning to 5:00 or 6:00 or 7:00 in the evening. usually the window for those high temperatures is just between 2:30 and 5:00 in the afternoon and from there, you are kind of cooler on either end and things really settle down fairly quickly. first autumn day which kicks in just before 10:30 this morning. in the upper 70's to mid 80's, we'll have a strong cold front going through tomorrow. it won't have a tremendous amount of rain. it will bring from cooler air in time for the weekend. we start off early this morning with high clouds drifting in. a lot of sunshine otherwise. you'll have that from start to finish. next front approaching from the west gets here with an increase in clouds overnight tonight and then tomorrow there could be some showers early in the day up

southern areas into the afternoon and evening. temperatures in the 50's for the most part. upper 50's at the coast. you'll notice down to 51 and newton right now through londonderry and continuing through windham as well. there's cooler air to be had and upper 40's in portions of the monadnock region. not quite as warm. much drier air has been filtering in. just been the lock step. there are still some areas certainly back to the west where fog can tend to be an issue on any given morning where temperatures fall off. dewpoints in the 40's and 50's early this morning. remaining that way. if anything, headed down into the weekend. warm day today, 78 in pittsburgh to 86 in nashua and salem. look for the sea breeze at the coastline. the warmest temperatures by 3:00 or 4:00 will be from concord down through nashua. insiding high clouds tonight. maybe a shower up north after midnight.

then the front slides into central areas of the state after lunchtime and into southern areas. with that, a quick band of showers trying to come through. once it does, winds turn to the northwest. that brings in the cooler air. upper 50's to upper 60's saturday. mid 50's to mid 60's sunday with likely the coolest of the evenings and maybe some frost for the first time in some central and western areas. early on monday morning. from there, we'll continue to warm back up again. upper 60's about where time of year by the time we get toward the middle of next week. for the first time in a while, two or three days of temperatures below normal. we've gone through the first 20, 21 days of the month of september six degrees above normal. getting temperatures below normal, even for a couple of days, a little shock to the system even though we hit fall today. sean: all right. 60's will be the new normal. erin: plymouth state unveiled new peace garden.
