victims in this case and wmur's cherise leclerc is live where ely was arraigned today. cherise: the county attorney took those 10 years to collect enough evidence in order to charge ely. he is ordered to stay away from all minors including his two alleged victims. >> these are horrendous charges. cherise: the victims were between 11 and 13 at the time he is a them. authorities say it happened in his hometown of new new hampshireton. there are three charges in total, two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault of a child under 16 and another also under the age of 16. >> very troubling allegations and concerning to the community as well. cherise: they're calling for more people to come forward.

welcome them to come forward. cherise: ely was arrested at his home wednesday. news 9 cameras went to the home for comment, but there was no answer. gull brandson would not reveal how ely was connected to the alleged victims for their protection. if he does post bail, he has to follow strict >> he is to have no unsupervised contact with any minor child. he is further ordered not to participate in any group activities where minors may be present. cherise: that includes his former job as i seasonal part-time employee at ragged mountain in danbury. they tells news 9 he is no longer an employee there. >> i don't think there is a present threat to the community at large, but we do think other people may have relevant information. cherise: and this case is

that should happen within the next couple of weeks. live in laconia, i'm cherise leclerc, wmur news 9. tom: a manchester west high school student facing charges after police say he brought a gun, drugs, and stolen property to school. authorities say a student told them that another student may have a handgun in the building. the student was removed from class. officials say they searched the student's backpack and found a loaded gun, paraphernalia and some stronal property. >> there are charges related to the handgun and other property found in the student's bag when it was searched by the school district which included some drugs, drug paraphernalia and other stolen property. tom: along with the charges, the student could face expulsion. parents were notified of the situation by email after school. developing out of tulsa, oklahoma, tonight, an officer is now facing a first degree

dashcam and aerial video shows terence crutcher walking to his s.u.v. with his hands in the air, but the footage does not have a clear view of the moment officer betty shelby fired the deadly shot. officer shelby acted unreasonably when she shot terence crutcher. she is now on administrative leave without pay. shelley: well, we are less than an hour away from the start of a curfew in charlotte tonight. this comes after three straight shooting of a black man. these are live pictures out of charlotte right now. people will need to be off the streets starting at midnight. the curfew lasts from midnight to 6:00 a.m. heather is in charlotte as the national guard prepares to take over the streets. >> protesters are out in force tonight marching through the street of uptown charlotte. many businesses have shuttered their doors as police and national guard troops keep

for a third straight night, protesters took to the streets of charlotte. a heavy police presence backed up by more than 400 national guard troops didn't deter crowds from demonstrating against the fatal police shooting of keith lamont scott, a 43-year-old black man. scott was -- he refused his commands to drop a handgun which they say was recoveredt gun. others say he held a book. thursday authorities allowed scott's family their first look at videos of the incident. in a statement, their lawyer said, after watching the videos, the family again has more questions than answers. when he was shot and killed, mr. scott's hands were by his side and he was slowly walking backwards. police say they will not make the videos public until the investigation is over.

that southern city which so many consider auto racing central. he was watching last night as a second night of demonstrations over the police shooting of the black man turned violent. >> i think everybody needs to stand up for what they believe. i also consider taking a protest into a riot is going a way bit too far. >> things became so violent last night, a civilian shot by another person in the crowd died today. today cleanup from the violence and charlotte including at the nascar hall of fame museum downtown which sustained significant damage. it's a shock to many nascar fans in new hampshire for this weekend's race. >> i understand why people are upset and i understand that people want to make a point about issues that they feel need to be addressed, but certainly destroying anything of historical value like that is not the way to express yourself. >> it's really a shame what is going on down there right now. i have friends in charlotte

marijuana grow site. jonathan weaver was growing pot in his home. inside police say officers found about 25 plants, growing equipment and drug paraphernalia. he is charged with the manufacturer of a controlled drug and is held on $10,000 cash bail. tom: an outside water ban in newmarket because of the drought. a stage four water shortage supply today. warning and a $100 fine, then $250 fine for any additional violations. for repeated violations your water could be disconnected. the extreme drought in southern new hampshire will be taking its toll on agriculture well past the summer season. at miracle acres farm in milford, they have lost the entire crop of christmas trees that they planted just this past spring. farmer david wheeler says the impact is far more severe than

>> this is probably twice as bad for us. we plant about 1,000 trees a year and in 2000 we lost about 500 of those maybe in some of the areas where the soil is very shallower. we lost everything, the whole 1,000 we planted is dead. tom: more severe christmas trees survived this dry summer and will be ready for harvest during the holidays. shelley: applicants to the university of new hampshire will not have to pay an application anniversary, it's waiving its fee for instate undergraduate applicants. nice gesture as we said earlier, every penny counts. tom: it does when it comes to college. a massive data breach. stephanie: yahoo! says hackers stole personal information from millions. tonight what they're urging all

warning users to change their passwords after a massive data breach. shelley: personal information was stolen from 500 million accounts. the breach dates back to 2014 and names, email addresses, passwords and security questions all stolen. the company says users should change their password if they haven't done so since 2014. >> if someone is able to get into your yahoo! mail account, for example, if that is the companies send password reset messages, it provides a steppingstone through which the hacker is able to get into those other kinds of accounts. shelley: yahoo! says no far there is no evidence the hackers got anyone's financial information. tom: dozens of people say they spotted a meteor streaking across the sky in new hampshire tonight. take a look at some of these pictures, people reported seeing it between 9:00 and

our viewers sent some pictures. this one is incredible. an officer was able to catch it on his dashcam. >> i was just driving down pike street and all of a sudden there is a big bright light in the sky in front of me, a meeto streaking across the sky. >> the brightness and it drops off. it is blue and happened so quickly, a meteor that most likely did that. tom: whether or no made to the ground is not yet confirmed. shelley: to a remarkable cheerleading team to head to a national competition, one of the first of its kind from new hampshire. they'll compete in the special needs division. jean shows us how the cheerleaders and their buddies make it york. jean: when the squad hits the practice field, this team

put your hands together for the manchester challengers. the special needs cheer squad started two years ago with two cheerleaders. now the roster is up to nine, each cheerleader teams up with a team buddy for some hard work and heart-warming friendships. >> she is the best, s >> we're a team. one team, one family. >> i definitely love working with her because she is like me. she doesn't say much, but her face expresses a lot. >> we have this thing when she looks at me and goes whoop sido. >> thank you. jean: the team is practicing twice a week perfecting routines to take on the road. in december, they'll compete in a national competition at

are on the way and eventually some showers, too, overnight and tomorrow. a look at the high temperatures today, we rang in fall at about 10:00 a.m. and of course this afternoon it felt like nothing like fall. 85 dress was the high temperature in concord, 84 in manchester, 82 in jaffrey and even up north, temperatures were in the upper 70's. it was a warm day. well above average which is 70 degrees for this time, not a record breaking day, though, which was 92 degre in 1970. certainly this was a warm one for almost late september standards. here are the temperatures right now, across the state we have got 50's north, 60's from the lakes region and points to the south. 66 in nashua. as we go through the next couple of days here, the temperatures are going to come crashing down. if you're looking through that autumn crisp cool feel, it's coming, you just got to wait one more day.

temperatures bottoming out near 62 for a high temperature on sunday. so what's happening between then and now to get so cool? a cold front, of course, it's about to move through. you have scattered showers already moving into the north country, the clouds are starting to fill in as well. that will happen in earnest as we go through the overnight here as the cold front starts to approach. behind it, some cooler and drier air. it's going to finally feel a lot more like fall here is the latest drought monitor. this report came out earlier this morning. you can there really isn't much change, still the extreme doubt conditions continue into nashua and portsmith. less of a problem in the northern part of the state because you guys have simply had more rain than the rest of us in southern new hampshire. manchester is still down a good 16 to 17 inches for the year. that's a big problem as we head into, of course, the winter season here.

overnight tonight after midnight really a chance of showers for the notches northward. we are seeing that in the far northern regions of the state. you see this line try to make its way make its way into southern new hampshire as we get in the afternoon. some of us may not come away with a drop tomorrow. i'm hopeful we'll see a couple of scattered showers even in southern new hampshire around the mid-day hours. the clouds clear, tomorrow night for friday night football games, good to go and saturday, back to sunshe. weekend ahead of us here. overnight 50's and 60's. 55 in concord, about 60 degrees in manchester. here is the school day forecast. so i would probably have your kiddo in rain gear, have it available tomorrow morning, especially if you live in the north country and then it's possible that we get a few more showers into the afternoon. the race forecast up in loudon this weekend, sunny and much cooler. by the way, it was 90 degrees the last time we had a race in

the bad boy off road 300 goes to green at 2:00. sprint cup driver kevin harvick made an appearance at a sponsor event today, they were celebrating the revitalization of camp spaulding in concord. it's a partnership between the ymca and concord child and family services. he talked about racing this weekend. kevin: the cars and tires and the longer things stay cool, the faster the speeds are and the faster they stay fast for longer time periods. so it's definitely going to be different than the first race, but it's very similar to what we usually have in the september race. jason: turning heads on the football field this fall and playing his way into a college scholarship. he is a 6'5" 240-pound tight end for the football team. this is his second season

shelley: well, today, more than 1,500 teenagers got the chance to weld, drive a big rig, lay bricks and run a backhoe. tom: high school students around the state are with transportation and public works departments. dozens of businesses took part in this event knowing the students could be part of their workforce. >> we're new england, all in all, too. i think that's a big backbone, like the people that are in this grouping, giving up their day to make sure that the kids have a shot at it. tom: the event also encourages female students to take a second look at these industries and careers.
