charge ely. he is ordered to stay away from all minors including his two alleged victims. >> these are horrendous charges. cherise: the victims were between 11 and 13 at the time he is accused of assaulting them. authorities say it happened in his hometown of new new hampshireton. there are three charges in total, two counts of aggravated felos child under 16 and another also under the age of 16. >> very troubling allegations and concerning to the community as well. cherise: they're calling for more people to come forward. >> we do think other people in the community may have information and if they do, we welcome them to come forward. cherise: ely was arrested at his home wednesday. news 9 cameras went to the home for comment, but there was no

how ely was connected to the alleged victims for their protection. if he does post bail, he has to follow strict violations. >> he is to have no unsupervised contact with any minor child. he is further ordered not to participate in any group activities where minors may be present. cherise: that includes his former job as i seasonal part-time employee at ragged they tells news 9 he is no longer an employee there. >> i don't think there is a present threat to the community at large, but we do think other people may have relevant information. cherise: and this case is expected to move over to soupior court. that should happen within the next couple of weeks. live in laconia, i'm cherise leclerc, wmur news 9. tom: a manchester west high school student facing charges after police say he brought a

them that another student may have a handgun in the building. the student was removed from class. officials say they searched the student's backpack and found a loaded gun, drugs, drug paraphernalia and some stronal property. >> there are charges related to the handgun and other property found in the student's bag when it was searched by the school district which included some drugs, drug paraphernalia and other stolen property. tom: along with the the student could face expulsion. parents were notified of the situation by email after school. developing out of tulsa, oklahoma, tonight, an officer is now facing a first degree manslaughter charge. dashcam and aerial video shows terence crutcher walking to his s.u.v. with his hands in the air, but the footage does not have a clear view of the moment officer betty shelby fired the deadly shot.

unreasonably when she shot terence crutcher. she is now on administrative leave without pay. shelley: well, we are less than an hour away from the start of a curfew in charlotte tonight. this comes after three straight nights of protests of a police shooting of a black man. these are live pictures out of charlotte right now. people will need to be off the streets starting at midnight. the curfew lasts from midnight to 6:00 a.m. heather is in charlotte as the national ar streets. >> protesters are out in force tonight marching through the street of uptown charlotte. many businesses have shuttered their doors as police and national guard troops keep close watch on the crowds. for a third straight night, protesters took to the streets of charlotte. a heavy police presence backed up by more than 400 national guard troops didn't deter crowds from demonstrating

shooting of keith lamont scott, a 43-year-old black man. scott was -- he refused his commands to drop a handgun which they say was recovered at the scene. some witnesses say scott had no gun. others say he held a book. thursday authorities allowed scott's family their first look at videos of the incident. in a statement, their lawyer said, after watching the videos, the family again has mr. scott's hands were by his side and he was slowly walking backwards. police say they will not make the videos public until the investigation is over. >> this family does not agree with rioting or innocent individuals being injured or killed. >> on wednesday, demonstrations turned to bedlam as angry crowds clashed with police. tear gas and flash grenades

faces from smashing windows and blocking roads. this man was shot police say not by them. he later died. charlotte's mayor has put a midnight curfew in affect until 6:00 a.m., so far protests have remained peaceful. shelley: they are revving up for a major weekend at new hampshire motor speedway. many people in loudon have to charlotte, north carolina. tonight many had a lot to say about the violence they witnessed in charlotte last night. as he sets up his booth at new hampshire motor speedway, this vendor from charlotte, north carolina, is thinking about that southern city which so many consider auto racing central. he was watching last night as a second night of demonstrations over the police shooting of the black man turned violent. >> i think everybody needs to stand up for what they believe.

protest into a riot is going a way bit too far. >> things became so violent last night, a civilian shot by another person in the crowd died today. today cleanup from the violence and looting was underway in charlotte including at the nascar hall of fame museum downtown which sustained significant damage. it's a shock to many nascar fans in new hampshire for this weekend's race. >> i understand why people are upset and i understand that upset and i understand that people want to make a point certainly destroying anything of historical value like that is not the way to express yourself. >> it's really a shame what is going on down there right now. i have friends in charlotte posting on facebook, we're ok, we're ok, it's getting trashed left and right, it's really sad. >> looters did not manage to remove any of the exhibits from the nascar museum, but what

peaceful solution to the city's race problem. >> at the end of the day, you can't create more problems than you need to be dealing with. you got to stick with the problems that got us here. shelley: despite the mainly damage, the museum reopened to % visitors today. tom: reports of students wearing racist outfits for student week. the administration became aware of it this afternoon. a concerned parent told news 9 one was seen wearing black face and another wearing a confederate flag. they have been talked to and the school does not tolerate any attacks on another person. the incident is still under investigation. shelley: tonight a newport man is facing charges after welfare check led to the discovery of a marijuana grow site. jonathan weaver was growing pot in his home. inside police say officers found about 25 plants, growing equipment and drug paraphernalia.

drug and is held on $10,000 cash bail. tom: an outside water ban in newmarket because of the drought. a stage four water shortage supply today. violators will receive a warning and a $100 fine, then $250 fine for any additional violations. for repeated violations your water could be disconnected. the extreme drought in southern new hampshire will be taking its toll on at miracle acres farm in milford, they have lost the entire crop of christmas trees that they planted just this past spring. farmer david wheeler says the impact is far more severe than the last significant drought of 2000. >> this is probably twice as bad for us. we plant about 1,000 trees a year and in 2000 we lost about 500 of those maybe in some of the areas where the soil is very shallower.

tom: more severe christmas trees survived this dry summer and will be ready for harvest during the holidays. shelley: applicants to the university of new hampshire will not have to pay an application fee next fall. in celebration of the 150th anniversary, it's waiving its fee for instate undergraduate applicants. nice gesture as we said tom: it does when it comes to college. a massive data breach. stephanie: yahoo! says hackers stole personal information from millions. tonight what they're urging all users to do. >> we're a team, one team, one family. tom: and a special needs cheerleading team is getting ready to head south, coming up, why the competition they're preparing for is such a big deal. >> here comes the line of showers. how long they linger as we get

national competition, one of the first of its kind from new hampshire. they'll compete in the special needs division. jean shows us how the cheerleaders and their buddies make it york. jean: when the squad hits the practice field, this team stands out. put your hands together for the manchesterha the special needs cheer squad started two years ago with two cheerleaders. now the roster is up to nine, each cheerleader teams up with a team buddy for some hard work and heart-warming friendships. >> she is the best, she some too funny and i love her. >> we're a team. one team, one family. >> i definitely love working

tom: hayley is in now with a look at a changing forecast. hayley: a couple of scattered showers coming through. every little bit helps. we need a lot more than what we're about to get. a pretty quiet and mild night at 69 degrees. portsmith, 64 dress with clear skies. that's going to change, clouds are on the way and eventually some showers, too, overnight and tomorrow. a look at the high 10:00 a.m. and of course this afternoon it felt like nothing like fall. 85 dress was the high temperature in concord, 84 in manchester, 82 in jaffrey and even up north, temperatures were in the upper 70's. it was a warm day. well above average which is 70 degrees for this time, not a record breaking day, though, which was 92 degrees set back in 1970. certainly this was a warm one for almost late september standards.

got 50's north, 60's from the lakes region and points to the south. 66 in nashua. as we go through the next couple of days here, the temperatures are going to come crashing down. if you're looking through that autumn crisp cool feel, it's coming, you just got to wait one more day. tomorrow in the mid 70's and look at the weekend's temperatures bottoming out near 62 for a high temperature on sunday. so what's happening between a cold front, of course, it's about to move through. you have scattered showers already moving into the north country, the clouds are starting to fill in as well. that will happen in earnest as we go through the overnight here as the cold front starts to approach. behind it, some cooler and drier air. it's going to finally feel a lot more like fall by the time we get to the weekend here. here is the latest drought monitor. this report came out earlier this morning.

conditions continue into nashua and portsmith. less of a problem in the northern part of the state because you guys have simply had more rain than the rest of us in southern new hampshire. manchester is still down a good 16 to 17 inches for the year. that's a big problem as we head into, of course, the winter season here. so here is how things go. overnight tonight after midnight really a chance of showers for the notches northward. northern regions of the state. you see this line try to make its way make its way into southern new hampshire as we get in the afternoon. some of us may not come away with a drop tomorrow. i'm hopeful we'll see a couple of scattered showers even in southern new hampshire around the mid-day hours. the clouds clear, tomorrow night for friday night football games, good to go and saturday, back to sunshine. it's going to be a bright weekend ahead of us here. overnight 50's and 60's.
