caption content and accuracy. visit ncicap.org] erin: we begin with a look at the weather. a bit of a rainy introduction to autumn. scattered storms are hitting the granite state. the rain is still coming down out there. good afternoon to you. i'm erin fehlau. we want to check in with kevin skarupa. how much longer does the rain going to last? kevin: a bit more of an autumn pattern with shower activity. and starting to wind down in the next couple of hours. central and southern areas were content with more passing showers. -- will contend with more passing showers. we are looking at a lot of what we will have through the remainder of the afternoon. that line of showers is the actual cold front, which is the dividing line between the warm, summary--- summery-type weather

forecast in a few minutes. erin: nascar is back in new hampshire, and race fans are pouring into the granite state. the big race isn't til sunday, but there is a full weekend of activities for all of the fans to enjoy. our ray brewer is covering the soggy start to the festivities. he is live at the magic mile. lot going out there this morning. ray: could hear the machines out and drying the track. as long as we don't get much more rain we should be alright for the qlifying, set for a quarter to 5:00 this afternoon. it was a different story and the fans are making the best of it. as rain fell, a couple of pace trucks ran laps checking the surface.

new monument to tony stewart, as sunday will be his last race at the speedway. one of his fans says there is no one else like him. >> when i first became a tony fan i didn't want to be a tony fan because he's a wonderful winner and he's kind of edgy when he loses. but to have that kind of emotion i think the new racers are all kind of mellow and they don't show that kind of emotion. ray: it was a good morning for sitting around the fire. the adams clan was making the best of itde >> we actually bring our whole shop down. we own a business and shut it down and bring all the guys down and have a fun time. ray: and they also have something special to celebrate. they brought this 1970 plymouth roadrunner superbird for richard petty to sign. the car is worth an estimated $250,000. cliff adams restored it. he says he wanted one since he was 15. >> it's kind of unique and different and you don't see a

investigating an elaborate fraud targeting a lee resident. police say that victim's comcast email was hacked into, amazon accounts opened, and a credit card was even applied for. take a close look at these surveillance images. lee police say that the man pictured signed for at least one package using the victim's name, when the two in the photo picked up items at a local ups store on august 26. investigators say they made several purchases including camera equipment and gold coins totaling almost $10, a man convicted of using a gun to promote drug trafficking has been sentenced to 5 years behind bars. 28-year-old sean miller was sentenced in federal court in concord after police say they searched his home in keene and found a shotgun along with drug records and paraphanelia. prosecutors say miller sold heroin to a confidential informant four different times

this is just into our newsroom, a suspect has been arrted in connection to a fatal shooting of her protester in charlotte. it happened to run -- during a demonstration wednesday night and the curfew was implement in the wake of the event. it follows a deadly officer-involved shooting. as abc's maggie rulli tells us, even president obama is speaking out, saying recent events should be a source of concern for all americans. maggie: a third night of to quiet streets after the mayor of charlotte announces a citywide curfew, something hundreds of protesters ignored, demanding justice for keith scott a black man fatally shot. they remained peacul, and police let the demonstrations continue. some demonstrators going so far as to shake the hands of national guard members in thanks

obama says police-community relations are an issue in the u.s. but he is hopeful there is a y to solve the problem. president obama: i think it is importt for all of us to say we want to get this right. it should be a source of concern for all americans. maggie: officials in charlotte are trying to restore order. mayor roberts: our uptown area is lgely open for business and we are looking to return to normalcy. maggie: and to prevt the protests leto the arrest of more than 50 people, hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage, multiple injuries, and one death. this 26-year-old protester was reportedly shot in head by anotr protester. the community is challenging authorities over the two very different versions of keith scott's shooting. e police say scott had a gun and they felt threatened. scott's family say he didn't own

erin: the 15-year-old girl pepper sprayed by police after her bike collided with a car in maryland is speaking out. she is now saying that her aggressive behavior was a reaction for being knocked out. the teen says she fought the officers because she was dizzy, confused, and scared after being briefly unconscious from the accident. >> if i was not to be knocked out, i don't think i would have acted the same. erin: situation coulhave been handled better on both sides and that pepper-spraying her daughter was unnecessary. police say it was used as a last resort. the girl was charged as a juvenile with assault and disorderly conduct. her family has hired a lawyer. donald trump and hillary clinton are getting ready to face off in their first debate. the two presidential candidates will go head-to-head on monday night in new york. with polls showing a tight race

this afternoon it knocks us right into the autumn season you much out of nowhere. the air will be continuing to reassert itself all weekend long. for the time being, temperatures in the 70's in southn areas of the state. central partof the state contending with passing showers. how about the north country? pittsburgh just a shadeelow 48 degrees. the braces starting to pick up out of the north. thata there are a few spots through pittsburgh and colebrook that are not out of the 50's through the weekend. the front is making its way into the white mountains. 60 miles an hour. temperatures are in the low to mid 40's. as the front slides by, the north country make it a few breaks in the overcast but the central and southern areas will contend with a few psing showers. we are not expecting anything to be terribly organized or last

areas of the time we get to the evening commute, and for the time being it has been consistent. it will diminish north of the notches. in southern areas that is where it comes through. around the london area, the threat diminishes after 4:00 or 5:00 this afternoon. temperatures into the 50's up north. the time of year when the temperatures can fall in the afternoon. still a few hours to warm up in southern areas. we are going to be concerned about the transfer couple of showers in and out of the loudon area. skies will continue to clear later on this evening. temperatures will slip back into the upper 30's. 40's to the low 50's elsewhere. any early clouds in southern areas giving way to sunshine. a few fairweather clouds in the afternoon.
