daughter with a vehicle. reporter: salem police have released this 911 call made yesterday by the mother of two young children. police say she had given her car keys to the oldest child who was just 7 years old. >> the mother had given the 7-year-old keys to go outside and start her vehicle, which was a 2003 information focus, and in doing so when the girl started the vehicle she was also able to somehow manipulate it into gear, the vehicle went into reverse, backing over t daughter who had followed the 7-year-old outside. reporter: salem police say it happened here at 75 south policy street, apartment 1, around 6:30 tuesday afternoon. police say the mother of the children was inside when the toddler was run over. but ran boo the parking lot when she heard the 7-year-old screaming for help. >> the mother went outside, according to officers, as well as one of the neighbors, they were able to pick up the 2-year-old and they also were

police responded. reporter: the car ran over the child's legs, causing broken bones, injuries to her children, scalp and bruising. she was ultimately med flighted to boston children's hospital, with what are being called nonlife threatening injuries. police say they are still investigating, adding this is something children should never be allowed to do. >> they are inquisitive, maybe it's something they asked go out there and do it unsuper advised, on a piece of equipment as heavy and dangerous as a motor vehicle is just not common sense. reporter: police are working with the division of children youth and families on this investigation. jennifer: tonight three children are safe and two people wanted in connection to their disappearance are now in custody. today police issued warrants for

35-year-old michael macmaster, the couple's three children were last seen a week ago. guyer and macmaster do not have legal custody of them, and police say they found bobbie jo guyer with the children, michael macmaster in a separate location. the children are now back with their legal guardians. tom: now to commitment 2016, hillary clinton just wrapped up an event on the u.n.h. campus where she was joined by senator bernie san. we begin with political director josh mcelveen who sat down with sanders for a one on one interview. josh: it wasn't that long ago that hillary clinton and bernie sanders were lockedded in a very contentious battle for the democratic nomination. now they've joined forces with the common goal of beating one donald trump. and clinton today told the crowd something they probably already knew. >> isn't this one of the strangest elections you've ever seen? josh: that's one way of putting

sanders teamed up to talk about the promise of a debt-free education, clinton said there is no group with more at stake in this election than young people. >> because so much of what will happen will affect your lives, your jobs, the kind of country we are, the kind of future we want to build together. reporter: but to win new hampshire in november she may need the help from the man who won new hampshire in february. in his mine it seems it's made up. >> catastrophe for our country and in fact the world if trump were elected president. reporter: in an interview sanders says losing the nomination was difficult and concedes that clinton has to earn back trust. but given the choice, sanders says forgiving clinton for past mistakes should be a no brainer. >> you don't have to be in love with a candidate. what that candidate has got to do is deliver for the middle class and working class of this country, that's what we need right now.

bedford. doors open at noon, the rally starts at 3:00. tom: tonight marks the 35th anniversary of of the first two slayings in the early 80's, both involved young women and both remain unsolved. as jennifer crompton explains, investigators aren't stopping their search for the killer. reporter: the body of 23-year-old laura compton was discovered on september 28, 1981, in her chapel street apartment after a night out with little was found in her apartment on maplewood avenue. both were students at portsmouth beauty school, well liked in the downtown scene. both slain in eerily similar circumstances. >> it was blunt force trauma, and it was a rage. they were brutally, brutally harmed.

health officials now encourage everyone except children younger than 6 months to get vaccinated right away. symptoms include fever, headache, cough, sore throat, and a runny nose. last season there were 19 flu related deaths. the man who runs the regional power grid was in manchester today for a for you on energy. he spoke at st. anselm this afternoon charge of keeping six states supplied with electricity. he says as the region increases its renewable energy production, it also needs to make sure natural gas is available as a backup. >> the problem with renewable energy resources is that they can't be controlled, you can't always depend on the weather to give you the energy production you need to keep the lights on. reporter: he adds if new england does not add energy capacity in the next few years, the grid

it's not getting any safer and they need support and help. tom: people can sign up now, head to wmur.com for more information. josh j.: a very different day today with temperatures yesterday in the 70's, and today in the 50's for most of us. we did make it into the lower 60's for a while in the northern part of the state with more sunshine there. but you've been sucked in -- socked inwith the clouds in the southern part of the state. and the wind around for the most part for the nighttime hours into early tomorrow. but then tomorrow we see a clearing trend for a while. first in northern new hampshire and then pushing its way southward and vervel we'll see some sunshine and a pretty decent day. we can't rule out a shower tomorrow. but for the most part we stay pretty dry thanks to this area of high pressure fending off all the rain for now. eventually this area of upper low pressure will drift in our direction and by the end of the week and weekend it spins around

the other big story going on right now is this, we now have tropical storm matthew. yesterday it was just a weak disturbance, it was strengthening quickly, crossed other the windward islands and now top winds are of 0 miles per hour and it's expected along this track to turn into a at least category 2 hurricane and go perhaps right over some of your favorite tropical islands, so we'll have to watch that closely. beyond that is anybody's guess. here's a whole bunch of computer models that do the same thing as you just saw on that the corner, but watch this as it heads up maybe in our direction, but sort of fanned out all over the place in terms of possibilities, these are all the different computer model solutions, site bears watching because there's a chance at the end of next week could it be in our neighborhood. so we'll watch that closely. for tonight clouds for the southern two-thirds of the state. then watch the clearing happening through the day tomorrow, turns into a nice day, but the cooler conditions continue, a fall-like feel and below average temperatures in the 60's tomorrow.

off with sun, gradually the clouds thickening up and the computer models disagree a little, but generally they agree on rain heading in this direction late friday or saturday morning with scattered showers, perhaps downpours. low temperatures tonight in the 40's in much of the state. 30's to the north. tomorrow a little warmer than today, temperatures will make it into the 60's, lower 60's at the seacoast and warmer inland. let's pick a pot and zoom in on the lakes region and show you a more indepth look at the we'll start between winnesquam and winnipesaukee and laconia, the temperature topping around 65 degrees or so. wester beach, 65 there as well. center harbor around the mid 60's for highs. squam lake, holderness with temperatures reaching the my 60's as well. you get the idea, ally warmer for tomorrow.
