right now it is 56 degrees, meteorologist hayley lapoint tells us when some wet weather will start moving in. hayley: it depends on where you live. if you're in southern new hampshire, some of you already are seeing lie rain showers moving in, especially in the monadnock region. you can see that's the case there on the radar. the light to moderate rainfall now moving into those most southern communities. and there is some heavier rain to the south. so we'll likely have this band moving from the south up to the north throughout the evening and overnight hours and there is more raineh into the weekend. temperatures now are in the 50's, it's definitely a raw feel this evening, about 57 in concord, 56 manchester, nashua and portsmouth. 56 in plymouth and lebanon. so here's your weekend planner, not a washout, either of these days. tomorrow definitely looks like the wetter of the two days, but there will be dry times and probably even more extended periods of time when it will be dry on sunday. but look at those temperatures, still rather cool. i'll show you more on the

things she did when she got in the race is endorse this iron agreement which i think makes the country less safe. >> i have concluded that the imperfect iran deem is the best way to keep iran from having a nuclear weapon, something that must never happen. reporter: hassan and yea yot did agree on a few issues such as addressing the opioid dries is in the state. can you see the entire debate on our website, wmur.com. josh: still to come tonight, police officers changing their appearance this month all for a good cause, we'll explain. jennifer: plus want to see some fall foliage this weekend? we'll show you where the leaves are just starting to turn. hayley: and don't let the weather keep awe way from checking out the find or going to many fairs, different outdoor activities this weekend. yes, there will be showers, i'll talk about the timing of when the rain moves through, coming up.

josh: if you're looking to enjoy the fall color this is weekend, you might want to head up north where the leaves are really starting to turn. jennifer: find can already be seen in several towns along the kank, the scenic railroad also buzzing with people today. everyone looking to grab a glimpse. the attraction provides three different train rides all around conway and right up to crawford notch. >> that's where a lot of people are going to see a lot of foliage, because we're 2,000 feet, so there's a lot difference in the topography and in. jennifer: just beautiful. fall, by the way, is the railroad's busiest season. hayley: that gentleman is totally right. elevation is the name of the game right now, the higher the elevation the better the color at the moment. so that's why you'd want to head north. we're seeing lots of changing colors, anywhere from just north
6:17 pm
water, that's your best bet this weekend if you did want to check out the color. but even places as far south as right along the massachusetts border, there is some beautiful trees popping with color at this point, so we'll continue to see the changing color going from moderate up in the northern part of the state and continuing to move southward as we get into the month of october. usually columbus day weekend is when a lot us are seeing the peak color across the state. here's a live look in conway, can you see one beginning to show color. in warner it's 57 degrees. and we have cloudy skies there. definitely a cool evening, no doubt about it. feels raw when you head outside, with temperatures in the 50's like this, 57 in concord, 54 rochester, about 56 in laconia. 54 plymouth. rain showers already starting, so that will make it feel cooler
6:18 pm
just about getting into the manchester area now, just a couple of drops along down toward merrimack, nashua. same thing along the 93 stretch, but probably heavier rain 101 toward peterborough and keene. but nothing all that heavy. we have a low pressure system, a big one at that, right over the ohio river valley. look at the spin with this. low pressure systems counterclockwise, the air around them does. so that's why we're getting at the this tropical, well, moisture coming right off the ocean. that's why as we go through the weekend here that whole low pressure system has to make its way across the area. and that will mean unsettled weather and more clouds and rain showers too. this is midnight tonight, we'll have showers moving through, particularly in southern new hampshire. these will continue to move from south to north during the
6:19 pm
likely be the wettest part of the day tomorrow. and more scattered showers in the afternoon. now, sunday looking like probably the better of the two days because we'll have longer periods of time where it will be dry. though there is the chance of some scattered showers and drizzle really at any time during the day. this is beneficial rain, particularly in southern areas where we're in the extreme drought and some places could get upwards of an inch of rain, that's good, we'll take it. overnight tonight in the 40's, a few 50's manchester and tomorrow we'll only get into the 50's and with a northeast wind at 5 to 10 miles per hour it is going to feel downright raw again. want to show you what's happening down in the caribbean, because we now have a very strong major hurricane. this is hurricane matthew and it's now a category four, the strongest hurricane we've had all season long, it has 140-mile per hour win and here's the latest track of it. yes, it does look like it may approach the united states by mid-week next week.
