students are displaced because of a dorm fire this morning. it took six hours from new hampshire and vermont to put out the flames. i'm charise leclaire. mike cronin is live in hanover with the details. mike: firefighters say it was extremely difficult to get this fire under control. everyone made it out safely. escorted by staff, dartmouth college students returned to morton hall to pick up some of their belongsings after a four-alarm fire broke out in the school dorm overnight. >> so they can check for computers. mike: dozens of students forced out. most of them spending the night with friends. >> our concern is student safety. we're very, very glad that no one was hurry.

last night hurricane matthew was a category five hurricane. the first category five hurricane since 2007. it has been downgraded to a category four which is some good news. but this thing still could pose a problem for us here. i'll talk about when that could possibly happen coming up in a few minutes here. >> developing tonight, a 6-year-old boy who was shot in a south carolina elementary school has died. jacob hall was shot in a 14-year-old had killed his father and drove to that school and opened fire. another student and teacher have been shot. but they've been released with the hospital. the teenager is charged with murder and three counts of attempted murder. police in manchester are investigating a shooting on pearl street. officers found a man sitting in the front steps with a gunhot wound to the right thigh.

he passed away a year ago and five of his organs were donated to save lives. >> the day was created to remember and honor andy blacksmith but also to raise awareness about becoming an organ donor. despite the rain, more than 1,000 motorcycle riders gathered in new hampton for a special tribute. >> we lost our he helped save five people. if everyone began an organ donor, we could save a lot of people. >> he was a beloved personality for the buzz. he died at the age of 49 after being dying nosed -- diagnosed for heart failure. the last few years of his life he was all about promoting organ donation. this was so andy. this is what he would love.

durham 0.35 and just over .10 in concord. this really hasn't been that heavy despite the whole day and manylaces being really wet. here are the high temperatures. this is some cool stuff. 50's from concord down into manchester and in nashua. a few places up north tried to get up to 60. there were some heavier downpours in koas county otherwise it was a splattering of some light rain showers. even when we're not seeing it on the radar still a little bit of drizzle. along route 16 probably some scattered showers and into the lakes region, wolfboro seeing some rain showers right now. with that system comes this
