thanks for joining us today. i'm erin fehlau. sean: hi there. sean mcdonald. first driving into work today, more of the same. foggy and misty. we haven't had a weekend like that in the long time. kevin: it is very thick in the valleys. we had the weekend that was cloudy, gray, and cool. that's about to slowly start changing over the next day or two. we look at colebrook, 51 degrees. temperatures are generally between 50 and region this morning. so it is fairly similar so far. there will be warming air that pushes in today. you can see that upper level low pressure center that's been to our west all the last several days. right here is pushing in. once that moves through, things begin to change. until then, we'll see warmer temperatures today. 60's on average. a couple of spots could hit 70. there will be some scattered showers and clouds and sunshine.

the scene on lafayette road. he's live. what can you tell us? ray: no further details about the victim's identity are being released at this time. the scene is mostly clear. according to seabrook's fire chief, they were called at 689 at about quarter to one this morning. there an apartment building number three which is a 12-unit apartment building they found heavy black smoke coming from a first residents in the 12-unit apartment building were outside. the chief said they did search the building. that's when they discovered the one person in the first floor apartment where the fire had started. now the chief says that at this point they don't know how that fire started. there are a couple of investigators with the state fire marshal's office here at the scene. as for the other residents, we're told they were all taken to other hotels or motels around the area.

that one apartment and the other residents should be allowed back in the building later today. reporting live in seabrook, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: thanks. a fire that destroyed a building at a water works in laconia is suspicious. the flames broke out late saturday night. it has been closed and vacant since 2006. it took crews from three towns about two hours to control. but the building was destroyed and officials say it partially collapsed. because the park has gotten overgrown, firefighters couldn't get their trucks to the building. there was a little good news. >> the vegetation and the brush and the trees were fairly wet. if it was still dry like we had dry weather recently, we would have had large spread of fire throughout the trees and brush.

of land. it is for sale. they are fortunate that the flames spread. now they are trying to figure out exactly how the fire started and if someone is responsible. erin: they say a small charcoal grill is to blame for a fire that heavily damaged a dorm. the fire marshal's office says that students had set the grill up on a flat section of root outside of a window of morton hall and weren't watching it when the fire sparked. the school is now housing for 70 students. plans are being made to repair the dorm. the landmark manslaughter trail gets underway today. gregory nisbet faces four counts. the fire was sparked by smoking materials on a back porch. there were multiple code violations and one exit was blocked. it was the deadliest

years. sean: a manchester man is wanted after he fired at a car in the queen city. warrants have been issued for 18-year-old jacob cahill on charges of attempted first-degree assault and reckless conduct. he got out of a car while stopped at red light. then he fired a single shot at a passenger in the car behind him. no one was hurt. police say cahill took off in a red acura with new hampshire plate 4084128. erin: katie and cuba are bracing for hurricane matthew as the extremely dangerous category 4 storm bears down on the island nations with sustained winds of 140 miles per hour. more than three feet of rain could fall. evacuations are already underway in some places with the storm expected to arrive on the. wmur's reid binion is

kevin: good morning. welcome back. a look at foggy conditions. particularly if you are driving in any of the valleys and merrimack valley and mountain valleys, all thick with fog this morning. otherwise clouds and breaks. that's what we'll see for the day today with afternoon showers. details on that and the warmer air headed this way in a few minutes. sean: thanks. hundreds of people ran and walked through manchester to honor police officers killed in the line of duty. erin: this was the tenth fallen. it fell on the 40th anniversary of the line of duty death of officer ralph miller. we're just two weeks have the tenth anniversary of the death of officer michael briggs. >> this is a difficult time and difficult month for manchester p.d. and law enforcement. this is an opportunity to remember those who sacrificed and never forget the families. >> it means so much the whole community and even

erin: investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire that destroyed three dozen school buses and a barn in wisconsin. the flames broking out yesterday afternoon while drivers watched helplessly. the bus depot served a total of eight school districts in the area. officials say no service will be affected today. were scary moments during a massive hot air balloon not one but two balloons got caught up in powerlines. in one crash, the balloon ended up brains over the lines and a damage was taken to the hospital after suffering an electrical shock. someone fired shots at a passing balloon. no one was hurt. sean: tim burton's latist is number one at box office for the weekend.

morning. look at the clouds. clearing in some locations. you can see stars in some locations this morning. other areas you are socked in. it all depends on your location. as we go through the day, the clouds will come and go thanks to this area of already. if you look closely, you can see the spin in it. that's the upper level that's spinning to the west for days. finally pushing in our direction, it moves over today and tomorrow. it pulls away. that allows clearing and very nice weather to push on in. what is not nice weather? that's this right here. this is hurricane matthew. still a major category 4 hurricane with top winds of about 130 miles per hour now. it is still steamy toward the north. very slowly. areas here that you see red, these are hurricane warnings that are in effect for these tropical islands, cuba, haiti, dominican republic, all under the gun and likely going to suffer some major

down here, because these could be really impacted areas. here's a look at forecast track right over the bahamas. toward south eastern parts of the united states. from here on out though, there's an awful lot of disagreement in the computer data as to where it goes. it is simply too early to say. in fact, unusually low confidence exists beyond about this point. it may slam into parts of south eastern usa. it may ride off of the coast and move up out to sea. there are so many different possibilities. it really just is best to wait until we get closer and wait and see. it will be next weekend at the earliest. here's a look at what happened today. lots of clouds and breaks of sunshine. then this afternoon as the upper low gets overhead, scattered showers develop here and there. showers, sprinkling, and wet times. after some early clouds and fog tomorrow, look what happens. the sun comes back out and turns pretty nice out there for tomorrow.

details. good morning, ray. ray: good morning. firefighters have cleared the scene hire at 689 lafayette in seabrook. according to the fire chief, it was around quarter to one this morning when firefighters were called to the apartment complex. they found heavy smoke in a first floor apartment in building number three. now it is a 12-unit building. 11 of the units were occupied according to the chief. he says most of the tenants were out of the building. they did search the building. that's when discovered the deceased person inside the first floor apartment and where the fire had started. now the chief says it took them about a half an hour to put the fire out. no firefighters were injured. it remained a one alarm fire. right now investigators with the state fire marshal's office are at the scene helping to assist and lead the investigation into the cause of the fire. the chief says at this point, they don't know how the fire started. as for the rest of the occupants of the apartment building, they went to hotels and

anticipated they should be allowed back in the building later today. reporting live in seabrook, ray brewer, w administration ur news 9. sean: thanks. a former stoddard firefighter is expected to plead guilty to arson charges today. david plant is accused of starting two large brush fires in april. the fires burned more than 100 acres. keene police say plant admitted to starting one fire using a glass bottle sunlight and the other using a flint lighter. erin: newmarket police are investigating a serious crash that left a teenager in critical condition. officers say that 18-year-old cameron russell was driving saturday afternoon when his pickup truck went off of the road and hit a tree. firefighters had to use the jaws of life to get russell out of the wreckage. he was taken to massachusetts general hospital. it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

after suffering serious injuries in an accident in foxboro. police say the trooper was hit by a motorcycle while he was working a traffic detail after yesterday's patriots game. the trooper, whose name has not yet been released, was hit in the parking lot near gillette stadium. >> the impact and it falls to the guy. they saw them slip around in the air. it was scary. they gave up their sunday. they are not watching the game. they are making sure they are getting there safe. he's not coming home right now. that's sad. sean: now the trooper was rushed to the hospital. state police say he will be okay. the motorcyclist who hit, 25-year-old jose perez rodriguez, is expected to face charges. he was fleaing troopers who was trying to stop him from going the wrong way. erin: two new hampshire students are getting grants. st. anselm college is

the air out. that will help today. looing at the thick fog in some locations. no visibility in the spots with .1 visibility. other spots no problems whatsoever. and clouds -- well, they are patchwork out there. you may have some views of the stars this morning. and a little bit of sunshine at times. before this upper level system pulling overhead. you see that spin there. that's the upper level low that was to our west all weekend final moving in. they can bring some clouds and showers. the other thing we have to watch is hurricane matthew, a major hurricane category 4 with 130 mile per hour winds right now. it has weakened a little bit. it is headed up toward the tropical islands here. many of them and right in the caribbean, the heart of it. it is going to make a line up like this. it is going to heading for the general area of the south eastern united states. it takes its time

it is not into south eastern usa until friday into saturday. real slow. that mean for these areas, it is moving over them very slow. that extends the devastation. keep an eye out. you are going to be seeing a lot of terrible things coming out of the islands over the next couple of days as they get strong winds and storm serge as well. after that, these lines showing where the storm could go. these are all of the computer models. you can see there's a lot of agreement until they get to this point.th some of the computer models take it over us. some of them bring it back out to sea. quite a spread. there's low confidence in this part of the forecast for next weekend. stay tuned as we continue to track that all this week. what we know is we'll see a mixture of clouds and sunshine. as the low from the west moves overhead, you are going to see some scattered showers popping up this

erin: a centenarian in missouri got to scratch a bucket item off of her list with the help of local police officers. sean: edie sims is 102. she says she's accomplished a lot of things, but one thing she's never done is to ride in the back of a police cruiser. some local officers decided to help her with that. josh: not only did they give her a ride, they put her in handcuff -- >> you enjoy your ride this morning. >> oh, yes. handcuffs and all. >> we're more than happy to participate. we love it. we get more out of it than the seniors do. >> it is a great world if you open your eyes and look at it. josh: she spends most of her time sews socks and scarfs.
