erin: hi there. good morning to you. thanks for joining us. i'm erin fehlau. sean: i'm sean mcdonald. we're about to start a nice stretch of weather. everybody looking past that. i'm just saying a lot of talk about matthew. kevin: all eyes on the holiday weekend. at least right now the affects from the possible storm that is matthew. it looks lesser right now we're in the 40's in most areas. we'll continue to have that going forward through the day on saturday. looking at the high temperatures this afternoon going in the low to mid 60's in the north country and approaching 70 in a couple of southern areas. the latest advisory comes in right now on hurricane matthew. more on that in just a few minutes. let's look at your wednesday morning ride here in the granite state. we're joined live by deb

make your way through the concord area. that's due to the dense fog that's through the stretch. again as you approach the hooksett rest area to the tolls and to the upper 293 split. 293 is foggy from the upper split to the manchester community college and as you make your way through the mill yard. 101 is moving okay. in massachusetts, all major roads are up to speed. from the wzid traffic network, i'm deb davidson for 95.7 erin: hurricane matthew is now moving over the bahamas. still the powerful major hurricane with winds of $125 miles per hour. the storm is blamed for at least 11 deaths. that number is expected to rise? officials have not been able to reach the western tip of haiti due to all of the flooding and damage. sean: an evacuation order expected for parts of south carolina as matthew turns for the southeast u.s. and the

activated. gibson is following the dangerous storm. >> overnight preparing for a direct impact. officials sounding the alarm as hurricane matthew putts the u.s. in its bull's eye. >> this is serious. you need to prepare and protect you and your families. reporter: people from the florida keys to the north carolina boarding up their homes and filling up their cars. there's only premium left in miami. >> it is a mad house. >> i don't hav i got to get a tolts get me to the next station. >> drivers waiting in line for more than an hour. this is what grocery stores look like up and down the coast. empty shelves as people stock up on the essentials. the governor of florida, georgia, and the carolinas. >> if you are able to leave early and go today, do that. don't take a chance. reporter: evacuations

nicki hailey has closed the coast. >> they are fearful of what matthew can due to the crops. >> it has the potential to devastate the crop entirely. the good lord is going to do. we have to keep the faith. reporter: abc news, new york. sean: there's a strong haitian many of them are trying to reach loved ones. >> we are nervous. we want to hear from the families. >> we are want invite everybody to support us. it is time of need for haiti. we are haitian living in the community. erin: the haitian baptist church is hosting a fundraising to collect food, clothing, and money to help with relief efforts. they are not the only ones preparing aid. ray brewer is here to

ready. ray: any direct impact is still unclear. we may not get any at all. the red cross is getting busy. they are urging people to keep a close eye and prepare just in case. the bigger focus is down south where the impacts are expected to be severe. they are preparing to travel to help with recovery efforts. they need your help asking eligible donors to give blood as soon possible. >> mobilizing this amount of people, especially this swath of area being affected, it may need a lot of resources that the red cross uses. donate if they can. >> i've directed state agencies to put emergency preparedness measures into place. we'll have a conference call about thursday. that's when we think we'll have the most up-to-date information. >> red cross urging people to check on the loved ones on ere as the

cross emergency app to get important information wherever severe weather hits. sean: thanks. a man accused of trying to kill a boston police officer is due in court today. police say 25-year-old eric gonzalez and another unidentified man opened fire while officers were investigating gun trafficking. one officer was shot, but he was not injured because he is his in his bullet proof vest. one suspect was arrested immediately. gonzalez wasn't tracked down until after a five-hour manhunt. erin: investigators say a deadly fire was caused by the improper disposal of smoking materials. the state fire marshal's says 63-year-old george wind died from smoke inhalation. his body was found inside his first floor apartment early monday morning. a manchester woman could face a live in

25-year-old janet hardy was arrested after she suffered a gunshot wound to her hand. they found nearly four pounds of fentanyl in her home and $765,000 between the house, a safe deposit becomes, and a storage unit. she will be sentenced in january. sean: the general election is less than five weeks away. it seems granite staters prefer paper ballots instead of polls. they are confidenceth the last election was accurately counted. while new hampshire doesn't use the voting machines, only 52% of those polled say they trust such machines. secretary of state, bill gardiner, says while the paper ballot is old fashioned, it works and confidence in the system is part of why turnout is so high. >> they wouldn't do it if they weren't confident that the

with dunkin' donuts and raised more than $20,000, enough to buy 600 winter coats, exceeding the goal. firefighters will work with local school efficients and service agencies to distribute the coats this month. last year they gave away 400 coats. turns out that police are better than army recruiters. the portsmouth police department took on the army recruiting office for a battle of the badges taco e contest on national taco day. police officer was the first person to finish a 12-inch, two-pound taco, earning a $250 donation to charity and a catering taco party. miss new hampshire em emceed that event. a similar event was held in manchester. sean: dios mio.

erin: federal investigators estimate a commuter train was going two to three times the posted 10 mile an hour speed limit. however that's based on the damage, not on data from the train. a video recorder, and the engineer cell phone were all recovered yesterday. they are being analyzed at a lab. officials say it will likely be tomorrow before they can move that train. for the first time we're seeing pictures from when a vermont fisherman was rescued off of the coast of massachusetts. a crew members of a chinese frighter spotted nathan karmen in a raft a mile away. it took three tries to throw a life ring to

criminal investigation. his mother is presumed drowned. sean: shopping season is around the corner. it seems americans are prepared to open up their wallets. holiday sales in november and december are expected to reach nearly $656 billion, a 3.6% increase from a year ago. the holidays account for nearly 20% of the annual retail industrial sales. s there could be potentially serious problems with the best selling vehicle in north america. federal safety officials are looking into plaints about the brakes on 282,000 ford f-150 from 2015 to 2016. some people have reported a sudden and complete failure of the brakes. no accidents are blamed on the issue. erin: a new public bathroom in china offered incredible views,

for early in the season. patchy fog and temperatures dropping back. 38 in the monadnock region. lower to mid 40's across a good part of the state as we start off the day and a coolish start. a nice finish. anywhere between 63 and 70 this afternoon. we'll look for a sea breeze at the coastline. front approaching from the west. that gets here over the holiday weekend. a lot of moisture to the south. trying to eventually get to it may not get there. temperatures upper 30's to lower half of the 40's early this morning. fog is an issue especially in the western and northern half of the state for the first few hour this is morning. temperatures running a solid 10-15 degrees cooler than yesterday at this time. you'll notice that immediately. you'll also notice a certain warming trend to the west. we're talking low to mid 70's starting tomorrow and continuing into the weekend. until we get there, 60's to lower 70's. a beautiful day out

this morning in western and northern areas giving way to sunshine which the rest of us should enjoy. tonight temperatures dropping back into the 30's to lower range of the 40's. could be cool enough and the second night of the cooler evenings. we could see some patchy frost. also some patchy frost. tomorrow and friday both days with sunshine, travel day for friday looks great. from there, we'll look for an increase in clouds on sat. that system back out to the west. there have been some developments with the computer maps over the last 12 hours. this is still a major hurricane in matthew with top winds at 125 mile an hour. track of the system over the next two days pretty much as the hurricane center has been thinking. approaching the east coast to florida and wandering and parallelling the east coast of florida's shoreline. from there, that's where things differ. anywhere after day three on a tropical map is very difficult to predict.

does it make the turn near north carolina, but eventually starts to fade a little bit to the east. this farther north than a lot of the computer maps are thinking. that would keep it out of our way in time for the holiday weekend. as you'll notice, most of the tracks also suppressed much farther south than they were yesterday at this time. that's the danger of day five or day six of trying to predict a tropical system. again we're going to continue to keep an eye on the changes. as quickly as it transferred the chances are smaller due to the front getting here over the weekend. 35 to 45 over night tonight. it will be chilly overnight tonight before we start turning warmer tomorrow. if the front comes through as it is expected to do saturday evening, it might mean a stray shower. otherwise the holiday weekend looks spectacular. erin: wow. sean: how things change. kevin: beyond day five of the

homes. there's now a shortage of fresh water. the full extent of the damage is not clear. here in u.s., governors in florida, georgia, and south carolinas have declared states of emergency as they brace for the impact of the hurricane. if the storm stays on the current track, it could hit miami tomorrow night. sean: that's right. the nation community is waiting to hear from their loved ones. ma haiti. they are struggling to get news. ray brewer live to tell us how they are coming together in support of the hurricane victims. ray: they are planning to hold a fundraiser to raise money for people suffering in the hard hit areas. they are continuing to

to mid 40's as you walk out the door. temperatures up into the 60's this afternoon. a couple of southern locations away from the shoreline could reach 70. gradual warming trend through the end of the week with sunshine. low to mid 70's all the way through saturday as we watch hurricane matthew. a front arrives saturday evening. at least right now all of the indications are the front and hurricane matthew may not link up. it may come through and stay to the issue into next week. temperatures in the 50's. you'll notice a lot of 40's and upper 30's. that's where the thickest of the fog will be. we're looking at another night like this morning early tomorrow morning. we're talking 35 to 45. a couple of cooler evenings. along with it, patchy fog that will take a couple of hours. otherwise we're up into the 60's again today.

had yesterday. look for that sea breeze along the shoreline. the lighter wind into the afternoon. then tonight temperatures will drop back in most locations into the mid 30's to mid 40's. notice some of the valleys, like concord and out toward keene topping into the upper 30's. couldcould be some frost. upper 60's to mid 70's. a similar scenario for getaway day on friday. we likely start the holiday weekend with sunshine as well. front will appro that front could mean a shower or two sometime late saturday, but probably more along the lines of saturday evening. a lot of the maps had matthew far enough north that it got swept up by the front. that's what dragged it closer to us. right now the northward movement is just slow enough. that means the track of the system while it remains the same albite

off of the coast friday morning. the track of this goes north and northeast. then you'll notice it is a lot farther east and wanders away. the front moves away. this could be a hurricane for quite a while off of the east coast of the united states. it is something we're going to have to track going forward, not only through the beginning and middle of next week, but you'll notice the maps have it doing a complete loop and going back toward the bahamas. all heavy rain and gusty winds. that leaves us around here with a nice holiday weekend. this goes with the fact that we need rainfall and we need it badly. otherwise the holiday weekend looks really, really nice. a lot of sunshine around. we need the rain. sean: i know. it is a double-edged
