weather. beautiful sunrise if you do not have the sun initially, you are contending with quite a bit of patchy, dense fog. visibilities down to less than a third or a quarter of a mile. we go from the upper 30's to mid 40's. high temperatures this afternoon for most will best 70. there could be a few spots in the mid 0*e8 70's this afternoon. changes come for the holiday weekend. we'll talk about that hurricane matthew coming up. let's look at your thursday morning ride. we're joined live by deb davidson. good morning, deb. deb: good morning. we still have road work that's slowing things down on 93 northbound through manchester. between exit 5 and the lower 293 split. there are some heavy delays through the area. 93 northbound seeing some minor slowdowns through the hooksett tolls this morning. interstate 89 is below the posted speed limit.

volume at exit 18 and 20 in lebanon. from the wzid traffic network, i'm deb davidson. sean: as we talked about hurricane matthew is now moving through the bahamas. he is starting to gain strength again before approaching te coast of florida tonight. the death toll has risen to 16. the number is expected to climb as rescue crews try to reach the hardest hit areas of haiti. thousands of people lo government estimates $350,000 people need some sort of assistance. erin: meanwhile two million people in the u.s. are being told it evacuate and hundreds of flights in and out of the region have been canceled, included some out of manchester. maggie rulli is following the preparations for matthew's arrival. >> this morning, florida is preparing for this. hurricane matthew, possibility the worst storm to hit the

it's already ripped through the caribbean, slamming into haiti. >> everything in my house is wet. i've lost everything. the water took it. reporter: levels towns in cuba. as it makes its way through the bahamas, matthews heads to the u.s. the fatal storm is strengthening with winds whipping at more than 120 miles an hour. florida, georgia, and the carolinas have declared states of emergency. they are being forced to choose to are being asked to leave their homes in florida. >> it could be the decision between life and death. reporter: south carolina is expected to evacuate half a million people. residents flea. >> we want you to evacuate. we do not want you to stay. reporter: those who do are scrambling for supplies, food and bottled water. >> i've been to three gas stations shut down because they are out of

are due in court after a four-month-long drug investigation. police arrested 34-year-old jamie butler and 35-year-old william butler yesterday. they found 15 grams of heroin and other drug paraphernalia in their apartment. both face drug charges. erin: the man police say was drunk when he lead them on a high-speed chase along winding roads is due in court tomorrow. >> stop. get on the ground right caught on pelham dash camera of a police officer started early wednesday morning after a driver sped by an officer on route 38 and blew through red lights. speeds reached 80 miles per hour forcing the officer to slow down before finding the car flipped over on mammoth road. the driver, 22-year-old justin soeum, was not hurt. he now faces several charges including dwi.

inland somewhere between west palm beach and the space coast before eventually lifting north and eventually out off of the coast of the carolinas. obviously all of the threats that come with a hurricane are going to be there for a good portion of the state of florida. the heaviest of the rain is going to be up through the carolinas as it eventually makes its turn. everything in just about every map suppresses that well enough to the south. we're left with the fair skies for the holiday weekend. it will be with an incr i saturday. the chance for the shower in the afternoon ore evening. clears skies setting up a breeze out of the north. it brings in cooler air after highs in the low to mid 70's today and tomorrow. we drop it back into the 60's only to see the recovery. two fronts, one sat and maybe another one on wednesday. erin: these next couple of days are beautiful. 70's and sunshine. kevin: you almost feel bad. sean: let's check out the top

ray: a bowe man is due in court after he used a front end loader during a domestic incident. he used it to tip over another piece of construction equipment while someone was inside. police say emanuel was still driving the loader when they arrived, refused to turn the machine off, and drove into a building. he fled the scene, was arrested a few hours later, fortunately no one was injured. sean: the man drunk when he lead them on a high-speed chase is due in court today. 22-year-old justin soeum reached nearly 80 mile an hour and blew through red lights before his car flipped over. the trial of a middletown woman hitting a 12-year-old relative with a baseball bat is expected to wrap up. erica hunt is charged with two counts of second-degree assault.

things down. you are heading out on interstate 9, it is nice and clear heading to lebanon. we're not seeing any problems along the seacoast on 93 from hampton to maine. from the traffic network, i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. sean: new on "daybreak," a man from bowe is facing charges after he used a front end loader to tip over another piece of construction equipment while so erin: ray brewer live in bowe with the details. was anyone hurt in this? ray: fortunately there were no injuries. police telling us this all began when they got a report of a domestic disturbance at a recycling business on river road in bowe yesterday afternoon. bowe police say when they arrived at the scene they found the 54-year-old peter emanuel had used a front end loader to tip over another piece of equipment while the victim was inside.

arrived. he ignored the officer's request to turn the machine off. at one point he packed the machines toward the officers and a police cruiser. >> we were able to get out of the way. there's enough room out there. we were able to move rather quickly. you know, at this point had he decided if he wanted to decide to drive at us, we had enough safe places to go at this point. thankfully it didn't come ray: police say emanuel drove the front end loader to the end of the property. officers across the street got into a company truck and fled the scene. he was arrested without incident two hours later on field stone drive. emanuel is facing multiple charges, including two felony counts of attempted first-degree assault. root now he's being held

due in court later today for an arraignment. reporting live in bowe, wmur news 9. sean: hurricane matthew is wreaking heave sock as it makes its way to the u.s. the storm is being blame for 16 deaths. ten of them in haiti. the death toll will climb. officials are struggling to communicate with haiti's hard hit southwest region. a key bridge was washed out. many roads are so far authorities have town more than 3,200 destroyed homes. now matthew is making its way toward florida's coast. preparations for the storm are well underway. nikole killion is in the washington bureau to tell us how the government is gearing up. reporter: president obama says now is the time to prepare and heed the advice of local authorities. >> this is something to take serious. we we hope for the best.

accused of making meth. derek winters was arrested tuesday evening after police say he was caught making meth at the purgatory pond boat launch. during a search of the truck, they found more evidence of meth manufacturing. winters is due in court next month. erin: a 22-year-old man will spend up to seven years behind bars after pleading guilty in a case that involved online adds, assaults, and robberies. joel leary is one of two men and twoom police say at least four men reported being robbed and assaulted in a somersworth apartment after answering an ad for female companionship posted on the back panel. >> they planned to lure men and staged an elaborate act to scare the men out of the apartment after having

erin: leary pleaded guilty to robbery and conspiracy. sean: the new hampshire snowmobile association is feeling the impacts of the ongoing drought. the grounds are being prepped for this weekend's race into winter. it is a decade's old event that attracts more than 40,000 people as they get ready for the upcoming snowmobile season. for the first time ever, event organizers have to truck water in to fill three normally brook-fed ponds that people need to run thrgh to cool their suspensions. >> a tractor trailer load, presentation, that would normally fill a pool is what we use to fill one of the holes. the two other smaller ones are much rather less than that. when they come in, it also provides firm -- it provides the farm animals with a place to drink afterwards. which they haven't had the opportunity to do this summer yet. >> because the drought organizers say they are

possible. erin: a ground-breaking ceremony is being held today for a renovation and expansion project at upper connecticut valley hospital. the $2 million project will provide space for the rehab department. the ceremony starts at 3:30 this afternoon. sean: a welcome homer ceremony s held for a volunteer firefighter who rode his bike from new hampshire to florida. the the journey to raise money for ride to recovery. this was the reaction. the organize builds adaptive bicycles. fire departments were asked to give le january -- lechance a place to stay. >> my wife said ask my doctor. i asked him. he said i'm not your mother. what you want to do? i want to go for a bike ride. he said i don't have a

he's scared of the food. he'll tell me, i'm sorry, mom. i want to eat. erin: michael has been to see some counselors, dietitians, and doctors. so far no one has been able to help. sean: to a story that has a lot of people talking. a father in utah says the hospital charged him for holding his newborn baby. he says the charge for $39.35 was something that the bill called skin-to-skin after c-section. the hospital holding the baby but for having an additional caregiver there to ensure safety. the nurse borrowed the cameras to take a few pictures. he had no idea they would charge him for it. he did launch a go fund me page with a goal of raising $40. so far it has raised $120. i think he achieved his goal. erin: the hospital probably has a different name for the fee

and get a loaf of bred. erin: it makes it tough. kevin: you could probably make your own bread or have your own bakery. we start off and notice some patchying with dense fog. if you travel through the normal fog-prone areas, you are going to encounter that. visibilities down to around a tenth of a mile. if you don't have the to fog, you'll have the sunshine. low to mid 70's. well above the day tomorrow. the only system we're tracking here is this to the west that moves in here saturday afternoon and saturday evening. you'll notice we have lower 40's at the coastline in portsmouth and manchester, there are a lot of spots in between, down into the mid 30's this morning. this with some patchy frost and a few areas that may not have experienced it. there's a lot of areas that don't necessarily

upper 40's to lower 30's. the fog in issue early this morning. that will give way to mostly sunny skies into the afternoon and what should be another banner autumn day for us. all of the dry days continue to pile up. we need rainfall, low to mid 70's. maybe just a couple of address warmer for the day tomorrow with sunshine and a light wind as well. we get from there into the weekend. we are expecting after a little bit of fog early saturday partial sunshine before clouds from the west. out ahead of that, we should be well into the 60's on saturday afternoon. anywhere after 3:00 or 4:00, we'll run the risk of a couple of passing showers. once that goes by, that's it as far as any sort of rain chances going for another three or four days. hopefully a little bit of a drink of water coming out of this. all eyes to the south right now with a major hurricane named matthew. top winds over 125 miles an hour.

right near or just on to the coastline from somewhere between west palm beach up through the space coast and coronetting through jacksonville. that track hasn't changed much. a matter of 25 to 30 miles inland versus off shore is going to make a dramatic difference. the track of the system has not changed much. it will eventually parallel the shoreline with the carolinas. the coastal carolina area likely to see the most rainfall from the system with locally over a foot. track suppressed to the south. it may remain a named storm and continue to pin wheel its way around that system as we work our way through time. most of the maps keep it to the south. around here it is just a very nice holiday weekend. again one front coming through. that will be saturday afternoon and saturday evening. that's the dividing line of temperatures in the 60's to lower half of the 70's. highs in the 50's o lower range of the 60's.
