hurricane matthew taking aim at florida. new numbers from haiti. a look at what the storm has done to the area. first a look at our weather completely different here for the holiday weekend. we are really looking out here. kevin: as the storm track stays to the south with matthew, it leaves us with an area of high pressure and one cold front with big changes beyond us. we start off again with patchy fog in areas that had been seeing it play out over the last couple of days. otherwise as the fog bus sunshine. if anything, temperatures today are going to be a couple of degrees warmer than what we had yesterday. high temperatures statewide will be up into the 70's. we're still looking at 60's out there tomorrow. a front approaches later in the day tomorrow brings in cooler air for sunday and for columbus day on monday. much more on that coming up in a bit. let's look at your friday morning ride. join live by deb davidson. good morning, deb. deb: good morning. all of the overnight

abc's lauren lister is in florida this morning where some of the strongest effects are possible. >> hurricane matthew barreling toward florida. the brutal condition intensifying as the eye of the storm taunts poa sal cities. overnight violent winds along the beaches. gust in some places clocking in above 70 miles per hour. the storm bringing the look and sound of of downed fire -- powerlines. they fear up to three million may end up in the dark. matthew will be devastated. florida's governor making the dire warping. >> unfortunately this is going to kill people. reporter: already it has. matthew taking the lives of more than 100 people as it swept through haiti. the death toll there skyrocketing as the flood waters recede.

63,000 square foot hotel will be aimed at millennial and high-tech guests, featuring a lobby and retail space and a parking lot. the manchester planning board got to review the plans last night. last month we told you about the extended stay residents in at marriott that's been proposed for central street and developers describing as a upscale. the company hopes to open the 145 room hotel in 2018. decide on both proposals in the next month or so. ground breaking wouldn't be until next spring at the earliest. live in manchester, ray brewer, wmur news 9. erin: okay. thank you. a middleton woman accused of hitting a relative has been found not guilty. jurors deliberated before acquitting on two counts of second-degree assault. the state alleged that

bat. the defense argued the boy hurt himself during the struggle. a search is underway in northern massachusetts after an elderly man was killed during what police called a home invasion. a man in the 90's and wife in the 70's was seriously hurt in the town of orange, massachusetts. an autopsy is planned and while no arrests have. made, they are following several leads. erin: a state trooper was brushed by a car in nashua. police say the trooper was standing outside of his cruiser in a construction zone along the everett turnpike and tried to get the car to stop. the driver accelerated up the ramp and clipped the troopers equipment belt. 57-year-old john hunt of chumpsford, massachusetts was cited. hundreds were stranded after a car

so everyone was headed back down. fortunately no one was hurt. two people face drug charges after police found this. more than 20 pounds of marijuana hidden in the trunk of a car. state police stopped the car in 1995 and portsmouth. the drugs were found after a canine alerted the trooper to the odor of drugs. still ahead this friday morning, a leader on the field and off. a star field making quite a name for herself. enjoying lady liberty. the changes that are now underway at the statue of liberty. ahead at 6:30, how police say thieves may be using your credit card information to make money for themselves.

kevin: up and running on friday morning. patchy fog. temperatures in the 40's overnight. a jump for most into the 70's today. we don't quite hang on to those kind of temperatures for the weekend. as a matter of fact, there's a certain trend that last through columbus day. we'll have the details coming up. erin: the winnacunnet field hockey team is trying to win a third straight state championship. abby merrill. she made the varsity squad as a freshman. she was the leading scorer. warriors are 11-0 on the season for abby it is more than scoring goals and winning games. >> it is incredible that i get to be a leader for all of the girls. the team is so good. i just try to be the best role model and push everyone in practice. erin: she does. merrill is vice president of her class and member of the

erin: investigators say the train sped up. it was going eight miles per hour as it entered the station. 38 seconds before the crash it accelerated to 21 miles per hour before the engineer hit the emergency brake less than a second before impact. it could take a year or more before they complete the report into the deadly crash. one of the popular duck boat tour companies in philadelphia has shut down due to rising costs. ride the duck says the

likely doing that again tonight. you can see the normal suspects here in western and northern new hampshire picking up on the patchy fog, including the fog-prone areas like plymouth and concord. visibility better. warming trend for the next couple of days. high temperatures today likely as warm as we'll be with the entire stretch and could be the warmest day left for the entire calendar year as temperatures climb into the mid and upper 70's. 70 to 75 elsewhere through the day with a and more fog forming overnight tonight. if any fog burns off quickly enough, you'll start with sunshine. they will add clouds and thicken up. eventually there could be a late-day shower after 3:00 or 4:00. the better chances are going to be for a couple of passing showers during the evening. that will pull away overnight. early clouds sunday morning give way to the northerly breeze which should dry things out and set up increasing sunshine. some cooler temperatures by the time we get there. there's a look at hurricane matthew.

over 120 miles an hour. the eye itself about 30 to 35 miles an hour off shore. the melbourne radar which is just about 30 miles away from it, is measuring 140 mile an hour winds just 16 miles off shore. about a half a mile up in the sky. this is certainly a very close situation. we'll continue to parallel the northeast coast of florida over the next 12 hours. then lift north and eventually northeast and then start to trail this. over a foot of rain is a possibility in the carolinas as the storm track remains awe suppressed to the south and leaves us here with fair skies for most of the holiday weekend. 70's today. 60's tomorrow with increasing clouds. a couple of showers later in the day. we'll see skies clear after some early clouds on sunday. that should give way to partial sunshine. you note the cooler air. i want you to make reference to the overnight lows early next week. we should be in the 30's

ray: good morning. the latest proposal puts the new hotel right here in the mill yard. developers telling us it would be geared toward millennials. the proposed designs for two new hotels in manchester were unveiled before the planning board on thursday night. the 63,000 square foot hotel would stand near the bridge street bridge with retail and patio space available along with a parking deck. it would be built on there's now a parking lot with access from commercial street. they tried to design a modern hotel while honoring the mill yard look. >> we wanted to respect the ark techture of the mill yard. transformation features a lobby fashioned for socializes. >> young families, et cetera, very much like the -- some of the employees companying

inspection stickers. state police say a trooper and automotive equipment inspector went to conduct a routine audit. when they discovered that the business was unable to account for numerous state inspection stickers. merrimack police are sending out a warning after someone used a clone credit card at a home depot. detectives say a man from maine reported his home depot card was used without approval. they show aer he may be part of the larger group. >> what we know they are doing now is they are buying compact items that are valuable, returning the items, and getting cash back or gift card that's a legitimate card. erin: the criminals obtain victim credit card information and make a counterfeit card to use. claremont police are trying to track down the suspects in a pair of burglaries. they think they are connected.

we have seen ice cream inspired by beer and now beer inspired by ice cream. kevin: wow. that's quite the morph of the two, you know? erin: it is. kevin: seemingly it is a catch all there. erin: can you do mint chocolate chip? i don't think so. kevin: anything is possible. anything is possible. patchyfog out there early this morning. temperatures dropped back into the 40's. there are a few upper 30's. for the most part including on top of mt. 30's. 48 on top of mt. washington. that's pretty close to the lows elsewhere. that kind of gives you an indication that warmer air is moving in. a beautiful sunrise setting up in areas that aren't contending with the fog. we're looking at a warmer afternoon. this is likely the warmest day of the stretch. 60's tomorrow. out ahead of the front that eventually starts cooling us off. we'll drop back into the 50's to lower 60's starting on sunday. a lot of sunshine around after the fog burns off. this is the next front.

you'll also notice even though matthew is still located off of the coast of florida, there's a little bit of moisture. nothing tropical in nature. nothing heavy. nonetheless, a couple of showers. temperatures upper 30's and lower 40's. low to mid 40's elsewhere early this morning. a couple of upper 30's sprinkled in. beyond that, it is fair skies this morning. the fog burns off gives way to mostly sunny skies. of a start. it took until 10:00 to 10:30 to finally break apart the fog yesterday. 70's for most today. sea breeze knocks you back into the upper 60's. by the time we get toward the evening commute. 70's inland. we drop back into the 40's to lower 50's later on tonight with fair skies which means more fog forming. tomorrow we start with sun. we start adding clouds. what we say see a shower before 4:00, the better chances late in the day and into tomorrow evening.
