when those showers move in and the updated track of hurricane matthew. tom: as matthew moves north, a look at the path of destruction being left behind. announcer: no one covers new hampshire like we do. now, wmur news 9 tonight. tom: 11 on this friday night and we have breaking news tonight out of hampton -- police now investigating the unattended death of a 19-month-old. good evening. i'm tom griffith. that child's step-father is now facing charges in connection to the death. wmur's cherise leclerc is live tonight in hampton with the breaking details. cherise: tom, 30-year-old leo witham is facing three criminal charges tonight, but police have not told us what led to the charges or how the toddler died. authorities say the 19-month-old was found dead inside an apartment at 86 ashworth avenue on wednesday. witham was arrested today on endangering the welfare of a

duty to care, but also possession of a controlled drug and falsifying evidence charges. what police have not told us are the circumstances surrounding the child's death or how police discovered it. the cause of death is still under investigation at this time and police are asking anyone who may have more information to come forward or use their anonymous text line. witham is being held on $10,000 bail and will be arraigned on live in hampton, cherise tuesday. leclerc, wmur news 9.to water, this time for comments he made about groping women. footage from 2005 surfaced this afternoon of trump bragging about trying to have sex with a married woman. wmur's mike cronin joins us live with reaction from political leaders condemning his remarks. mike: we want to warn you that some of the language is offensive. the comments are drawing criticism from democrats and republicans, and in an unusual

washington post" begins with audio from donald trump making explicit comments about a woman. mr. trump: i moved on her and i failed. i'll admit it. i did try and -- her. she was married. mike: trump is on that bus with a reporter for an entertainment show. he was mic'ed and the photographer was recording. trump goes on to talk about kissing beautiful women. mr. trump: and when you're a star, they let you do it. you can do anything. billy: whatever you want. mr. trump: grab them by the -- you can do anything. mike: in a statement, trump says, "this was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago. bill clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course -- not even close. i apologize if anyone was offended." hillary clinton tweeted, "this is horrific. we cannot allow this man to become president." kelly ayotte's campaign released a statement to wmur.com, saying "his comments are totally inappropriate and offensive."

trump. gov. hassan: they're beyond disgusting comments. and i continue to be extremely concerned that my opponent, kelly ayotte, continues to support him for the presidency. mike: maggie hassan joined senator bernie sanders at a campaign rally for hillary clinton in nashua friday night. while not specifically addressing the 2005 video, sanders spoke generally about trump's treatment of women. sen. sanders: the secretary and i believe that women deserve equal pay for equal work. they do not deserve to be insulted every day by a candidate running for president of the united states. mike: trump was supposed to campaign with house speaker paul ryan tomorrow in wisconsin. ryan says he's sickened by trump's lewd comments and he's calling on trump to show respect for women. minutes after saying that, trump released a statement saying he'll be sending mike pence to wisconsin in his place. live in the studio, mike cronin, wmur news 9.

made campaign stops in the granite state today. gov. weld: gary and i don't mind being out there by ourselves, so if someone says to us you shouldn't do what you're doing because you think we should all be libertarians and emphasize freedom and liberty. tom: governor weld spoke to a group of supporters tonight at a rally in manchester. weld is running on the libertarian ticket with gary johnson. he also had events in keene and merrimack this afternoon. now to hurricane matthew, proving to be deadly in the united states. tonight, the category two hurricane is being blamed for five deaths in florida and more than 800 in haiti. now, the u.s. military is heading there to help. wmur's jean mackin joins us with more on the path of destruction in florida. jean: matthew has been pummeling the coastline. well-known roads like route a1a chewed up and well-known spots

orlando international airport reopens at 6:00 a.m. and walt disney world reopens its gates tomorrow. live in the studio, jean mackin, wmur news 9. tom: hurricane matthew is now heading north along the coasts of georgia and south carolina. meteorologist hayley lapoint is here with the latest track. hayley: nothing has really changed with this latest update. it is on track to move into georgia and the carolinas. it is right off the t will not be damage. the biggest concern is actually flooding and flooding heavy rains. look at the vans over savannah, georgia into southern portions of south carolina. up to 15 inches of rain possible. this is the latest track that came out at 11:00. no changes. it is likely to weaken over the next 24 hours and likely to become a tropical storm by

tom: a national bill of rights for sexual assault survivors that was inspired by a meeting in new hampshire is now law. senator jeanne shaheen sponsored the bill after meeting amanda nguyen. shaheen says the sexual assault survivor told her that she wasn't told of her legal options after reporting the assault and that she still has to fight to make sure her rape kit is not destroyed. >> victims will at least know what their options their choices are and what they are facing and give them really that empowerment. tom: president obama signed the bill into law today. it guarantees the right to have evidence preserved and bans fees for forensic examinations for anyone reporting a sexual assault. the law only applies to federal cases, but senator shaheen hopes states will pass similar laws. announcer: now, hayley lapoint in your storm watch nine forecast. hayley: here's a look at a time

enjoyed beautiful sunshine all day long. watch this as i put this into motion and you will see barely a cloud in the sky and the foliage looking gorgeous. as we have gone through the day, we have seen the totally clear skies and that is going to mean a cool night. that is actually perfect for the foliage. we need cool nights and warm days to get the colors popping. this is a look at the latest fall foliage of the state, especially in the upper valley. modern color from concord into manchester. low color from the seacoast where it is traditionally warmer due to the proximity to the ocean. of course, the colors will make its way down to the seacoast too. meantime, it was way warm today. 79 in derry.

well. right now, in the 40's and 50's across the state across the state. 56 in manchester. as i mentioned, we still have totally clear skies over us now. with light winds, they have been dead for the past couple of hours, so all of those things together along with no clouds will need another cool night. things are about to change. we have a couple of systems at play. the and binghamton, new york. this is part of matthew which is down towards the south. this cold front you see here moving through the great lakes region is what is going to bring us showers into the evening tomorrow. meantime, i have to show you what is going on with matthew. look at the center circulation here. this eye. it continues to run parallel with the coastline and we are so thankful for that because it

it does look like it is coming dangerously close to making landfall near savanna. the strongest winds are in this front right quadrant of the storm so thankfully that has not come ashore. this is what they are looking at from northern florida to northern carolina. winds over 50 miles per hour. it will weaken over the weekend and then move south, but it looks like it will severely start out with sun. rain showers arrive after dark. if you have outdoor plans tomorrow, they are a go. sunday, clouds but then we transition back to sunshine. patchy fog tonight, clear skies and cool. temperatures in the 40's. tomorrow, temperatures in the 60's and 70's with sunshine early and clouds filling in. maybe some showers overnight.

a relatively quiet night in terms of the number of games on the schedule since division iii has the weekend off. with four weeks to go in the regular season, there was only one unbeaten team in division i, but seven teams at 4-1 with some work to do to make the playoffs. it is teams like exeter playing at nashua north tonight. they are both 4-1. third quarter, north on the doorstep, but jeff baldassari is picked off by kyle ball inside the five-yard line. the titans on their next drive again. baldassari connects with austin ouellette for a good pickup, but that drive would stall. the blue hawks controlled the clock for much of the second half. fourth quarter, brayden lowery drags a defender down to the two. two plays later, zach knight takes it in for the exeter touchdown. not the game we expected. exeter rolls, 42-6. they are 5-1.

carson webb threw for a touchdown and ran for another. keene at spaulding. the blackbirds win it, 41-28. cam scored twice for the red raiders. south at winnacunnet. south wins a close one, 37-34. sean holland with a big game. the south quarterback passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more. memorial was a collection site for new hampshire tackles hunger tonight. involved in the action. collecting for the manchester church of god with some help from the national honor society and the band. hosting the salem blue devils, salem in white. their opening drive is capped off with a 37-yard touchdown run by joshua sibanda. blue devils up 7-0. he ran for 138 yards and four touchdowns. the crusaders try to get their run game going right up the middle. first, it's tyler battista up the middle for 10 yards.

second quarter, next possession for salem and adam maroun goes 22 yards around the left sideline for the touchdown. salem rolls in the queen city, 47-25. merrimack home with londonderry. 7-7 in the first. justin grassini 11 yards to justin weiser, tie goes to the receiver. that is a touchdown for the tomahawks. second quarter, someone makes a mistake. grassini is picked off by kevin robischeau. lancers going the other way, but merrimack can play defense, too. jake stevens flushed out of the pocket and pulled down from behind by ryan roberts. back-to-back sacks on the drive for the tomahawks. still second quarter, grassini to tyler deneill and he throws downfield to a wide-open danny vanecek -- 35-yard touchdown.

they win, 34-7. a big night in manchester as the football field at gill stadium was officially named after former head coach jim schubert. schubert played at central in the 1960's and then coached the little green to four consecutive division i state titles in the early 2000's. central and bedford locked up in a good one here. first quarter, great effort here. quarterback robert connor complete to hussain shahrukh. he fights through one ta touchdown. that made it central responds 9-0. with the excellent junior running back jeremyiah rivera. a 51-yard touchdown run to cut the bulldogs lead to 9-7. second quarter, robert looks to pass over the middle and it is picked off by james tanguay, the senior defender for the little green. nice return into bedford territory. central couldn't capitalize, and when bedford got the ball back, a quick strike. robert to liam greene who makes a nice catch in the end zone for the touchdown.

they win, 24-16. robert had 364 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. pinkerton at timberlane. astros win, 24-7. nico buccieri ran for 128 yards and a score. jacob post had another big night for the owls -- 151 yards on the ground and he scored the only touchdown. 4-1 goffstown on the road at concord. first quarter, goffstown up 14-0 the board as he connects with mathew burke who breaks a couple of tackles and gets in the end zone. 14-7, grizzlies. goffstown would answer as nik moquin finds franklin castillo-diaz over the middle for a four-yard touchdown pass. 21-7, goffstown. then in the second quarter, moquin and castillo-diaz would hook up again, this time for a 50-yard touchdown -- 28-7. grizzlies would get the job done

coleman handrahan and he will return it for a score. grizzlies win it, 54-33. in division ii, lebanon on the road at laconia. big win for the raiders, 46-41. nate perkins had four touchdown catches and ryan millikin ran for two scores and threw for another. either kingswood or merrimack valley would get their first win tonight. in the first quarter, kingswood quaterback james donovan with a nice 18-yard run. however, the knights would turn the ball over the next play. merrimack valley with the ball already up 8-0, evan martin finds cam tillman for a 22-yard touchdown pass. 15-0, pride. now in the second, martin goes deep to ryan nelson who makes a nice catch while being covered

score. 22-0, merrimack valley. the pride win it, 28-6. they pick up win number one on the year. souhegan home with manchester west. 7-0, sabers in the first. andy geffrard hits david labonte and he does the rest. touchdown, souhegan, 14-0. their next possession, the give is to dante savo. he is off to the races. he goes 60 yards for the touchdown to make it 21-0. west trying to keep things under control. nice open field tackle by josh alexander. but later in the drive, tucker aiello goes around the left side for a 50-yard touchdown run. souhegan wins 49-6 as five different players score
