area. the road is expected to open in a few minutes. we are following two big stories tonight. first, hurricane matthew is slamming the carolinas. the death toll in the u.s. rising to 10. meanwhile, senator kelly ayotte is withdrawing her support for donald trump after a video shows him making explicit comments about women. a spokesperson for kelly ayotte says she believes donald trump should withdraw his candidacy. leclerc. hurricane matthew is weakening to a category one storm and is moving over the carolinas. the death toll climbs to 10 in this country and more than 800 in haiti. strong winds knocked down trees and took out power. it has to him to more than 12 inches of rain in some areas causing severe flooding. >> i am extremely concerned

some whole towns are flooded. suzanne: through the power of social media, people have been stopping by the church on merrimack street dropping off clothing, food and water. when marianne and her husband heard about the need for donations, they filled boxes full of their grown children's clothing. saturday morning, they left their newbury home to go to >> i had packed them up a while ago. when i saw the devastation, i said that i would bring the boxes. suzanne: in addition, she says she is going to visit local thrift shops to see if they also would like to help out. >> when you see the picture, all you want to do is how. suzanne: the church it is also looking for organizations to help fill more than a dozen

cherise: hundreds of people gathered at derryfield park in manchester today for the annual walk to defeat als. also known as lou gehrig's disease it is progressive and it affects nerve cells in the spinal cord. victims of that disease may be, totally paralyzed. the local walk helps research for much of the next year. >> we are so grateful for theen connect with one another, help us to raise awareness, and help us to raise the funds necessary to provide support to people with als. cherise: organizers say they expect today's walk will generate nearly $100,000 for als research. such a great cause and it looks like a successful day out there. kristen: they had sunshine for the early part of that what.

nine forecast. hayley: a lot of us started out with fog early this morning but that has cleared away. this is a time lapse at from conway. a lot of people in the north county -- north country are enjoying the beautiful fully it -- foliage. some of this might not be hitting the ground yet, it is not heavy rainfall yet. drops and others may not. it may only add up to 0.1 of an inch. not a huge rain event that a lot of clouds moving in with the cold front passing by. here is matthew now. this has been amazing because it has made landfall today in south carolina but it has weakened dramatically since that happened. it doesn't matter if it is

this rain. or have been upwards of 12-15 inches of rainfall in in south carolina already causing flooding. it has been a mess because of all of the flooding going on. this is the latest track of matthew. it will move off east and later tonight be downgraded to a tropical storm and it should just fade away into the atlantic and be done for the rest of the u.s. going forward. here are the temperatures. 50's and 60's across thag 63 in concord now. overnight tonight, 40's. here is the hour by hour forecast, scattered showers moving through. they are light and spotty. 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, waking up to clouds. were clouds and sunshine. we may get a few rays of sunshine peeking through

showers especially for manchester and points south and east. be aware of that especially if you have outdoor plans particularly near the coast. finally, this whole system pulls away and by monday, columbus day, we will be back to full sunshine. tomorrow, temperatures in the 50's and 60's with winds out of the northwest. here is the rest of the columbus day forecast. the cloudy tomorrow and showers in the southeast as we look forward to this week, temperatures will start to warm up. wednesday near 66. 67 on thursday with a chance of showers. a cool down for the end of the week and next weekend with temperatures in the 50's. i was able to visit this week a school. i do this pretty often throughout the school year. this is a video from farmington, the memorial school there.
