like we do. now, wmur news 9 at 6:00. adam: u.s. senator kelly ayotte is speaking out for the first time tonight since withdrawing her support for donald trump. her decision comes after a video was released of trump making lewd comments back in 2005. good evening. i'm adam sexton. cherise: and i'm cherise leclerc. now, her challenger in the senate race governor maggie hassan is firing back. wmur's kristen carosa joins us wmur's kristen carosa joins us now with the details. officially spoke to reporters today. she tells us she wanted to support her party's nominee but she says the tape that was released friday referenced assault on women and can no longer stand behind donald trump. for several months, senator kelly ayotte has said she supported donald trump. but now with the release of this video she has changed her mind. ,>> when my daughter is old enough to know what is in those

cherise: and the campaigning continues in new hampshire with less than a month before the election. first lady michelle obama will be in the granite state this thursday campaigning for hillary clinton and running mate tim kaine. the event will be held in concord and mrs. obama is expected to discuss not only clinton's campaign, but same day voter registration in new hampshire. other details have not been yet released. adam: in just a few hours, hillary clinton and donald trump will face-off in st. louis. the format of tonight's debate is a town hall. wmur's nikole killion is in st. louis with a look at tonight's big stage. reporter: we are inside the debate hall right now and i want you to take a look at the set up. you can see on stage the chairs are set for hillary clinton and donald trump. surrounding them will be undecided voters. you can see their seats as well. about 40 voters have been selected to take part in their town hall. in addition to fielding questions from them, the candidates will also take questions via social media and

they'll get two minutes to respond to each question. this debate 90 minutes in total. inside the debate hall at washington university in st. louis, i'm nikole killion. adam: the second presidential debate begins at 9:00 tonight from washington university in st louis. you can watch it right here on wmur. cherise: two people are dead after a fiery crash last night on a highway in nashua. police say one car was fully engulfed in flames and that speed likely caused the crash. from the state police barracks in bedford with more. mike: troopers here in bedford responded to the crash after 10:00 last night which shut down the highway for more than 5 hours. state police say the driver of a nissan maxima was driving fast on the circumferential highway in nashua, then lost control of the car while trying to use the off-ramp. the vehicle went straight across the median and was launched over the on-ramp and guardrail.

bottom of the merrimack river bridge, and it immediately was burst into flames. nashua fire says it was 30 to 40 feet below the highway. the driver and a passenger were killed in the crash. det. sgt. beaudoin: it appears that speed was the main factor in this collision and if the person had just taken the corner at a reasonable speed, this collision wouldn't have occurred. mike: the victims' names aren't being released right now while police notify their li anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call state police. live in bedford, mike cronin, wmur news 9. adam: thank you. tonight, the death toll from hurricane matthew climbing to at least 16 people in the u.s. and hundreds more in haiti. right now, search efforts are underway for five missing people in north carolina. the storm left widespread damage across the southeast and record-breaking flooding in north carolina. it also knocked out power to more than 2 million people.

and tells us when it will move out to sea. hayley: it is pretty much gone now. we are seeing the northern edge of rainfall on the northern edge of the storm. this is moving out. it is not even a tropical storm nicholas point, just a typical low-pressure system. it is continuing to move off. you see the rain showers out of manchester and quickly exiting off the coast line. some of us getting a glimpse of the the clouds and rain moving out quickly as matthew moves east. it was kind of a cool day. temperatures in the 50's. that is where we are now. overnight, we will fall into the 30's and 40's, especially north where the skies clear earlier. tomorrow will be a beautiful day. lots of sun. we dry out with temperatures cooler with the northwest breeze.

ahead. cherise: thank you. the city of manchester kicked off fire prevention week with a parade today. the 62nd annual fire prevention parade is held each year in october. the goal is to raise awareness for changing batteries in smoke detectors and other alarms, along with making a family plan to escape a home in the event of a fire. >> it always is a good idea to remind people we have a number of fatalities in the state every year. it is a reminder safety things. having working smoke attackers, having two ways out of every property. cherise: manchester firefighters will also be visiting several schools this week to teach children about the importance of fire safety. adam: military service members and their families were honored with a fun fall day in concord. apple hill farm held its 10th annual military appreciation today. military families were given a free bag to pick apples, were brought on hay rides, and got
