might have come in contact with illegal drugs, including fentanyl. good afternoon. i'm adam sexton. the boy's stepfather was arraigned this morning on multiple charges, including endangering the welfare of a child, drug possession, and falsifying evidence. wmur's jennifer crompton with what we are learning about this tragic case. jennifer: it happened last wednesday morning in a hampton motel room. a 30-year-old man finds his 19-month old stepson unresponsive, takes him across the et police have charged leo witham with 2 felonies and a misdemeanor. they say they found an open package of fentanyl in the motel room, as well as a bottle of prescription lorazapam that they also charge witham with intentionally hiding under a child's blanket on the bed. police are waiting for toxicology results to see how the child died, and more charges could be filed. >> the investigation is ongoing

usually when these cases have been and there is an unintended death, we try to go back 24 hours in the person's history to find out who they had been in contact with and what could across the situation to occur. jennifer: a funeral was held for the 19-month old on sunday. family members were in court but declined comment. reporting in hampton, jennifer crompton, wmur newsnine. adam: right now, a deadly crash on 93 south just before the 293 split is under investigation. investigators say it appears a ford f-350 was driving south slow moving traffic. investigators say the 50-year-old driver hit several vehicles. one of them rolled, killing 62-year-old cynthia perkins of derry. no one else was seriously injured. at this time, no charges have been filed. in court today, two men who merrimack police arrested for their alleged involvement in an elaborate mail scheme. 19-year-old steven ferreras melo and 21-year-old christopher sanchez sanchez from rhode

fraud. police say a package with 3 apple iphone seven's was delivered to a home, but that the resident did not order them. both men say that they were paid to go to the home and get the package with the phones inside. turning to weather, this morning you probably saw some frost on your car if you're parked outside, but it is warming up. here's a live look at hampton beach. temperatures in the mid-50's now. meteorologist kevin skarupa is here with how long we can expect those temperatures. kevin: five, six, seven degrees per hour after bottoming out in the 20's in the north country and a few spots out west. take this location in warner. temperatures did to around 35 this morning, now back into the lower half of the 60's. a good deal of sunshine. just a few high clouds across their area. we continue to see that next system approach to that purchase and brings changes for the end of the week.

the warming trend continues. i have all of the details in just a few minutes. adam: thank you. the man accused of robbing the t.d. bank on south main street in manchester just appeared in court. police say 35-year-old brian christoffels handed a note to a teller and then took off. wmur's ray brewer is live outside manchester circuit court with the very latest. ray: during the arraignment, we learned during the robbery, but the prosecution says that the teller did feel threatened. this is a picture of who police say is brian christofells as he robbed the t.d. bank on south main street in manchester monday afternoon. tuesday morning, christofells was arraigned on a single count of robbery. he was arrested after a photo was circulated, and police learned that the suspect might have fled in a car. police set up a roadblock at exit 4 off of 93 in londonderry, and when police approached,

give up." in court, the prosecution talked about what happened during the robbery. officer carrissa pelletier: he passed a note to the teller at td bank and made off with about $600 in cash. ray: the prosecution said that christofells has only a limited criminal history, and that his last conviction was back in 2002. still noting the seriousness of the charge, they asked for $15,000 cash or surety bail, which the judge granted. christofells is due back in court on october 24. ray brewer, wmur news 9. adam: thank you. coming in 2016 now. both hillary clinton and donald trump are campaigning in florida today. and trump is threatening to step up personal attacks if more negative tapes of him emerge. as abc's kenneth moton reports, new national poll numbers show clinton now has a double-digit lead. kenneth: that long simmering gop

we have been jumping live, x, 70 grays -- we have been jumping five to seven degrees every hour. a pretty impressive temperature climb. with that, temperatures warmer than yesterday. near 25 degrees warmer than where we were at this time in that washington. usually we warm up in the mid-levels first, and then that eventually transfers to the rest of that is what we are seeing now. mount washington was the warmest spot at 6:00 a.m. to our west, an abrupt change towards the midwest has an address in. not so much as far showers, but there is a drastic temperature drop. sunshine out there this afternoon. bear skies into the evening. just a couple of high clouds is all it takes to keep

sunshine and fair skies, another beauty of a day with temperatures in the 60's statewide. notice the onshore flow work its way through thursday and friday. a little drizzle possible, especially south of the white mountains. a break between that chance of drizzles and the shower activity later in the day. that is the difference between 60's this afternoon into thursday and temperatures dropping into the 50'seh be in place towards the weekend, with highs in the 50's. its like a temperatures we had out there this morning will likely play out again later friday night into early saturday. that means 20's to the low half of the 30's. i chance for frost also at the coast. there was a breeze friday to usher in the cooler air with highs in the 50's. we will be in the 50's with the cooler and brighter of the weekend days saturday.

green. we are at lowell farm in hollis. i am joined by jeremy delisle from the unh cooperative extension. no question it has been a rough year for farmers with the drought. yet, i see some beautiful apples in front of me. so there are crops out there, right? jeremy: absolutely. the drought has been the challenge, but they have done a great job of bringing out an amazing crop. still some really good fruit out there in amazing variety, especially at farms like here today in lowell. you can go through all of their different varieties. ray: so different apples for different purposes, obviously. why do we not start over here? jeremy: sure. this is called the blue pearman
