unfolded monday afternoon when police say a man stole an 84-year-old woman's purse from her cart. but police say a couple good samaritans saw what happened and chased after the thief. one man jumped in his car and a woman ran on foot. she called 911, told police what was happening, and directed police to a cemetery just a few blocks away where the suspect was seen running off. >> i saw this little old lady of the carriage, and this guy just comes running and grabs it right in front of me. and i was, like, oh, my gosh, is this really happening? >> all of a sudden she just started yelling, "he got my purse, stop him, stop him, stop him." ray: the purse snatcher got away, but he dropped the woman's wallet. the cash in the wallet was missing, but the credit cards

the suspect is described as a slender white man in his late 20's or early 30's about 5'8" inches tall. he was wearing a black fleece jacket, dark jeans, and a dark hat with yellow lettering. police issued a word of caution saying call them to confront suspects. reporting live in manchester, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: a a high-speed chase from manchester all the way to infield while driving a stolen pickup truck. state police a 42-year-old christopher o'dwyer was first spotted -- speeding around 11:00 last night. he refused to stop for police, reaching speeds up to 115 miles per hour. troopers say they were finally able to pop a couple of tires but christopher o'dwyer drove on bear rims up 89 and sparks

brush fires. he finally stopped at infield and was arrested peacefully. he is due in court later this morning. police in nashua think the same man may be responsible for at least four robberies in the gate city over the last week. that includes two robberies in the span of about half an hour yesterday morning at the speedway on east hollis street and the dunkin donuts on daniel webster highway. police are investigating similar robberies at subway restaurants in the city. donald trump says the shackles are now off his campaign as he battles members of his own party. he is also launching new attacks on hillary clinton concerning hacked emails released by wikileaks. for her part, clinton is focusing on battleground states with help from big names like president obama and al gore. abc's angelica spanos reports. >> donald trump bringing the heat. mr. trump: i wouldn't want to be in a fox hole with a lot of these people. by the way, including ryan.

ray: roger kidder gave chase in his car. >> because it was an old woman and i don't like thieves. ray: the purse snatcher might have slipped away, but he dropped the wallet. while the cash was gone, but the important cards were returned to a grateful senior citizen. >> and i found the ladies wallet on the ground so i picked it up , and i just ran right back to her. she was, like, oh, my gosh, thank you so much. thank you so much. ray: police caution good to stay safe energy and people to not give chase but instead, give police a call. ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: right now manchester police are investigating after a body was found on the west side of the city yesterday. the body was discovered at around noon in a wooded area on cullerot park. police had the area blocked off as they collected evidence. the person was an adult, but no other details about his or her identity have been released.

and police don't know whether or not this was a suspicious death. >> even though it's in proximity to northwest elementary school, it does not have any relation at all to the elementary school. this is a very public place. it's a hiking path, so it's not unusual to have people in this area. sean: an autopsy will determine the cause of death. anyone with information is asked to call police. authorities are investigating an incident that happened along the daniel webster highway in meredith when someone found a seriously injured man along the road. now police are asking for your help. sunday morning, a man called police saying a body was lying in the road. when authorities arrived, the man appeared unconscious. an officer called for backup and an ambulance. police say the man was seriously injured and one of his shoes was several feet away from his body. >> as i was starting to somewhat check the body, he did show some response did a slight movement.

much because i didn't now if he had a neck injury. sean: so far, the police have not released his name, but they are asking for anyone with information to contact meredith police. exeter has joined other communities in the state with the threat of fines for anyone violating an outdoor water ban. violators will first get a written warning. second offense is a $100 fine, and the third offense is a $500 fine and water is shut off. official are concerned that the drought could continue into winter and spring. >> we are even beyond talking about outdoor water restrictions and bans, but asking people to be conservative in their water use and preserve it for drinking water and sanitary water needs. sean: the ordinance goes into effect on monday. in manchester, work is underway to pipe clean water to homes with wells contaminated by pfoa.

lady michelle obama will be here in new hampshire campaigning for hillary clinton in concord tomorrow. and on saturday, republican nominee donald trump will hold a rally at toyota of portsmouth. this morning, rescue teams continue to save residents trapped by rising flood waters in the carolinas. as of yesterday, officials say crews have completed more than 2000 rescues. some rivers are expected to stay at major flood stage at least through the end of the weekend. and the governors of nor a residents that the dangers are far from over. president barack obama has declared a major disaster in north carolina. hurricane matthew has left homes flooded and washed away roads, claiming more than 33 lives in the u.s. north carolina governor pat mcrory said the state had recorded 14 of those deaths. more than 650,000 customers remained without electricity in parts of north carolina and virginia.

for the afternoon with partly to mostly sunny skies and the light wind. temperatures this morning still chilly, but not quite to the numbers we saw yesterday morning. several degrees higher in most locations. nonetheless, kids will need a jacket, sweater or sweatshirt for early this morning. probably not needing it later this afternoon with temperatures in the 60's and sunshine with the light wind through the afternoon. sea breeze of the coast likely drop to back shoreline. we will continue to see the fair skies to start the evening and the clouds drift in overnight under this canopy of low and mid-level clouds. could be patchy fog and drizzle early tomorrow. breaks in the activity until late in the day, we stop this year the evening commute, a quick hour or two of light rain coming through. it will not total up to much. behind it, a northwest wind which brings in the cooler air.
