police are investigating an early morning stabbing incident that sent three people to the hospital. it happened on winter street just after 4:00 a.m. thankfully, all three people will be ok. good evening. i'm cherise leclerc. adam: and i'm adam sexton. police have identified a potential suspect and are now asking for the publics help to find him. wmur's kristen carosa is live in plymouth with the details. kristen: we are told the stabbings happened right over which is off-campus housing for plymouth state university. we are told two of the victims are students. police say a 911 call came in just after 4:00 a.m. when officers arrived, they found three injured males. the victims were taken to the hospital. two have been released. the third is still hospitalized. police have released this photo of a potential suspect and say they need the public's help finding him. the man is described as african american with a medium build, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt. police tell us they found a

during the incident in a backyard down the street from where the stabbing occurred. friends of the victims tell us they are doing all they can to help police find the potential suspect. >> it seems to be a ghost. no one knows who he is or where he is from. everyone from around campus has been giving information to the police. the whole campus is coming together to find this kid. victims are not being released. police say the public is not at risk. reporting in plymouth, kristen carosa, wmur news 9. cherise: thank you. right now, durham police are looking for a man they say assaulted a store clerk at sammy's market. police say yesterday morning , this man walked into the store, assaulted the store clerk, and then left. the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

queen city as the manchester police department marks 10 years since the fatal shooting of officer michael briggs. this morning, his fellow officers, friends, and family members gathered at his gravesite in boscawen for "a ride to remember." a moment of silence at the state veterans cemetery this morning as police and family members paused to remember michael briggs, a man dedicated to his country and his job. then they hopped on their bikes, just like he always did. >> came on every night, working the midnight sft he'd come out and get on his bike. that's why we're riding these bikes and he'd do his job. he did it well, he did it professionally, and he didn't need a lot of fanfare. adam: officer briggs was fatally wounded in the line of duty 10 years ago today. to mark the solemn anniversary , manchester police organized a 'ride to remember' from boscawen to the law enforcement memorial in concord to officer ralph

, queen city briggs served and protected. >> it was emotional at times, believe it or not, reflecting on things. adam: sgt. brian caldwell says he still relies on briggs as an example of what a police officer should be. >> just the way he carried himself. he worked at the valley street jail prior to coming over with us. and when he dealt with a lot of the criminals they knew him, and , he commanded their respect. just the way he treated everybody the same, equally. ad memorials to briggs is a special locker at the police department that officers see before every shift. >> every day, we tell all the new kids that come in, all the new recruits, all the new officers that come in, we make it a point that you walk by that locker on your way out of the locker room, you give it a little touch, put your hand on it, look at it, whatever you need to do to keep mike's memory alive. adam: other officers and civilians on the ride say they pedaled the full 30-mile route

>> i think it's just important to remember our fallen officers and their families and pay tribute to them. >> it just means a lot to show support to the police department. adam: organizers say "the ride to remember" has been held on and off since 2006. starting with today, they plan to make it an annual event to raise money to transport family members of officers killed in the line of duty to law enforcement memorial week in washington. and tonight at 11:00, manchester police will share more about how they honor officer michael briggs now 10 years later. the uplifting way his legacy remains strong. cherise: a big send-off at manchester-boston regional airport this morning for the final honor flight of 2016. medal of honor recipient ryan pitts, a hero of the war in afghanistan, was on-hand to help see off two dozen greatest generation veterans of world war ii and the korean war. the manchester police department also received special recognition today for matthew

in may. since its inception in 2009, honor flight new england has brought more than 1500 veterans to see the world war ii memorial in washington, d.c. adam: turning to weather now. today started out cool but temperatures have risen, and it's the perfect day for some leaf-peeping. here's a live look in berlin where temperatures are in the 60's. so what can we expect it to stay warm? meteorologist josh judge is here with that answer. josh: it is a taste of indian summer on the way this upcoming week to 67 in berlin. 60's in many spots. 67 in portsmouth, nashua. mid 60's elsewhere. some spots didn't get into the lower 70's. some spots did get into the lower 70's.

couple of passing showers. the best chance in northern new hampshire. anywhere in the state overnight into early tomorrow morning, you could see a passing shower. there is a look at the warmer air streaming in our direction over the next several days. tonight, instead of 20's and 30's, we will bottom out between the low and mid 50's and only go up from there. we will have a look at the staggeringly high temperatures for this time of year and a couple of minutes. couple of minutes. cherise: thank you. carolina are still recovering more than a week after hurricane matthew. this comes as officials estimate that flooding has caused $1.5 billion in damage to 100,000 homes, businesses, and government buildings. meanwhile, two more bodies have been recovered from cars submerged in flood waters. the death toll in north carolina is now at 26. and while some rivers are receding, the governor says it's not over yet. >> there are still many

citizens who are being impacted by this incredible hurricane that has been with us now for over 10 days. cherise: sometime this week, the governor plans to release a detailed plan on how north carolina will rebuild, including how to pay for the effort. right now, thousands of people in the pacific northwest are without power as the remnants of a typhoon fizzle out. emergency crews in oregon and washington worked through the night to restore power lines and clear downed trees from the roads. so far, there are noep any injuries related to the storm. it was originally forecasted to be one of the worst in recent history. adam: commitment 2016 now. lots of chatter from the campaign trail following donald trump's accusations against the media. the billionaire pointing the finger suggesting the system is rigged. as abc's mary bruce reports, a new poll shows hillary clinton with only a slight lead. donald trump: false stories, all

and bible apps are particularly bad. >> they collect your contact information and ship it to china. you have bible apps connecting to servers and russia. the latest way to spy on people on their smartphone are the new emoji keyboards everyone is downloading. it overlays and replaces the built in keyboard in your smartphone. when you are typing in messages servers and other countries for cyber criminals. adam: fall cleaning is something we talke about around the house, but it is good for your smartphone. >> how many do use everyday? adam: half a dozen. >> if you are only using five or six a day, get rid of the apps you don't use everyday. look at the ones you use

your g.p.s., contact list, microphone, or webcam. if they are using those and should not, it is probably a rest -- high risk app spying on you. get one with less permissions. adam: what can i do to make sure my email account is as secure as it can be? >> their two paths choose. you can go all text only and will never get infected. the other is to use encryption all the time which means even a someone is spying on your email, they would not know what you are talking about. adam: if i have a yahoo! account, which thy be doing to make sure i am safe? >> the yahoo! breach, change your password, get a different account.

of the state. notice these lines shown the wind direction out of the southwest and cranking temperatures higher than yesterday. between five and 15 degrees warmer than yesterday. that is quite a big change. there are more changes ahead. i mentioned the winds coming out of the southwest. that is bringing up the warmer air that will continue to warm things up over the next few days. you will notice the winds bringing up more humidity as well. you will notice the humidity by tuesday and wednesday. clouds come and go throughout the rest of the afternoon and evening. that is what they did today, bringing a much-needed rain shower in a couple of locations in southern new hampshire as well as northern new hampshire where they are still going on

this front off to the west brings more chances for showers through the evening hours. very hit and miss in central and southern new hampshire, but a good chance you see a few more showers in northern new hampshire overnight into early tomorrow morning. this will be moving toward us more each day. tomorrow warmer than today. today was warmer than yesterday. tuesday and wednesday the warmest day of the week. that would be amazing this time of year. a closer look at the satellite and radar now. through the nighttime, more showers possible in northern new hampshire. that is where you have the highest chance of them. the rest of the state, you could see a shower but they are breaking apart so they will be scattered. keep an umbrella handy if you will be out late tonight or

early tomorrow morning. we go right back to sunshine again through the day tomorrow. a nice day setting up for tomorrow with temperatures in the low to mid 70's. upper 60's even in northern new hampshire. a warm front arrives to bring temperatures higher late monday night into tuesday morning. notice the showers it could trigger tuesday morning. it pulls away in the afternoon. temperatures will rocket upwards on tuesday sunshine and warmth likely on wednesday before temperatures drop a little bit after that. i will look at your extended forecast. there it is shown temperatures in the 70's tomorrow. upper 60's to the north. tuesday after early showers, we could be near 80 on tuesday and wednesday. that is what we call indian summer around here after your first frost and unusually warm temperatures.

clear away overnight. early tomorrow morning, mostly in southern new hampshire you can see a few clouds any leftover shower. then we turn sunny and much warmer as the warm air will push in during the nighttime hours and the next few days. we will notice a big difference in temperatures, only bottoming out in the 50's tonight. that is a big difference from the last few nights. we will talk about the warm temperatures. few minutes. adam: thanks. right now, the u.s. navy is investigating another possible missile attack on u.s. ships off the coast of yemen. the missiles were picked up by radar, but have not yet been confirmed. army officials say the strikes came from a rebel-controlled area, but did not hit any u.s. ships in the red sea. this comes just days after a u.s. missile strike destroyed three radar sites in yemen, in retaliation for two earlier attacks. and the u.s. is condemning the latest missile launch from north

the u.s. military says the missile launch failed after being prematurely detonated. the projectile exploded shortly after takeoff late last night. the u.s. and south korea say the firing of a mid-range missile is in violation of the u.n. security council resolutions. cherise: the u.s. and britain say they are considering new economic sanctions on the syrian and russian governments because of their conduct in war-ravaged aleppo. secretary of state john kerry and british foreign secretary boris johnson say they want to increase pre aleppo. after a 10-nation meeting in london, u.s. secretary of state john kerry said crimes against humanity were occurring daily in syria. adam: following a rash of dairy farm closures in new hampshire, federal officials are teaming up with their counterparts to hear from dairy farmers. they want to hear about the challenges they face from the long-running drought and low milk prices. 19 of the state's 120 dairy farms have closed in recent

adam: florida health officials have just identified another miami neighborhood where mosquitoes have spread the zika virus. cherise: health officials say five people have been infected with zika in an area just north of the little haiti neighborhood. health officials say a large portion of miami beach remains an active zika infection zone. over 1000 people in florida have been infected with zika. adam: scientists have made major adam: scientists have made major progress to cure a.l.s. or lou it. so a group of scientists in pittsburgh are using a cap to help those locked in speak their minds. it's a brain-computer interface which helps a computer read brainwaves, so patients who are locked in can break out by simply starting to spell. >> count in your head every time you see the number five covered up with a face. adam: but scientists says the

>> now, meteorologist josh judge with your stormwatch 9 forecast. josh: that was a step forward with temperatures today as we went from yesterday in the 50's to today in the 60's and a few spots hitting 70's. afternoon. a live look at portsmouth. the temperature at the seacoast, 67 degrees. the high was 70 this afternoon. winds out of the southwest at about 12 miles an hour. the southwest wind is bringing milder temperatures. concord made it to 68 today. the record, 92 degrees from a long time ago before you were born.

temperatures. still pretty warm. it will stay that way. the last couple of nights, we have woken up with temperatures in the north country near 20 degrees. we will all be the 50-55 degree range tomorrow for the lows and build from there. dew points rising and will continue over the next couple of days. tomorrow a little higher. tuesday into wednesday you will start to notice 50's and 40's turning to 50'an meaning you will notice a little bit of humidity on tuesday and wednesday along with warmer temperatures. you will probably notice it because we have had dry air lately. clouds moved in this afternoon. a couple of showers rolled through. we will take all we can get. could there be more tonight? there could, but most dry up before moving through central and southern new hampshire.

hampshire overnight and into very early tomorrow morning. the clearing pushes in. more nice weather for tomorrow and a warm front on tuesday pushes things up higher tuesday and wednesday. that is why the humidity levels will go up. the air will warm us into the 70's. in some spots, a slight chance you could get near 80 degrees on tuesday or wednesday. let's look at the future for the overnight shower chances. thst these showers dry up as they move across. sprinkles or drizzle a possibility overnight. when the fog and clouds clear away tomorrow morning, we will see the sun out and it will help temperatures warming to the 70's. even upper 60's in northern new hampshire tomorrow. i mentioned a warm front on tuesday.

chances late monday night and early tuesday morning. as they pull through, hopefully we will get a couple of showers. when we clear out the clouds by tuesday afternoon, we could see temperatures really rocketing well into the 70's. and another front on wednesday will be trying to push that warmth away but it lingers one more day. the lows tonight between 50 and temperatures. 70 to 75 in most places except for northern new hampshire, a little bit cooler there. it continues to go up. tuesday and wednesday just as warm or warmer before the front on wednesday brings cooler conditions thursday and friday. much-needed showers are hopefully going to be embracing us at the end of the week. next weekend, breezy and cooler but mostly dry.

adam: i did not take the air-conditioning out of the bedroom yet. cherise: thanks so much. right now, people in the pacific northwest are cleaning up after back-to-back rain and wind pummeled the region. they are not out of the woods yet. reporter: it was supposed to be one of the great when storms that never was. portland did pack enough rain and wind that some places reached 60 miles an hour. this crane swaying in oregon covered with debris. trees piercing homes. >> all of a sudden, a tree is falling on me. reporter: in beaverton, wind destroyed powerlines leaving thousands without power.

friday along the oregon coast, a tornado with winds up to 130 miles per hour. this home ripped from its foundation. >> no one was living in it. many of these homes were unoccupied. >> we are going to be here for some time. reporter: in seattle, a father and son were injured after a branch fell on them. the boy rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. through a home with a woman inside. fortunately, she was not hurt. abc news, seattle. cherise: scary. glad everyone is ok. a diverse community of refugees and immigrants are proud to call the granite state home. adam: photographer becky field has spent years getting to know them and uses her camera to introduce us to the newest of our american neighbors.

graffiti was painted on the homes of refugee families in the concord area and she felt she needed to use her lens to help open eyes. >> i decided to use my camera as a way to say let's treat people differently, let's honor them, let's celebrate the incredible skills these people bring to our communities and use them in ways that enhance all of us. >> ? [laughter] >> i love you, too. reporter: the book illustrates the beauty, color, and common struggle among the immigrant population in new hampshire. >> for one thing, new hampshire is predominantly white. by official census, 92% of new hampshire is considered white by

but i have encountered an incredible, it is almost like an underworld of this beautiful diversity and fascinating people. i have documented through my photographs 48 people from different countries. this photograph i call my john wayne photograph. it is a young boy, 13 years old. he has got what looks like a cowboy h i love this picture because this young man had been in the country three weeks when i took this photograph. after three weeks, look how adjusted he is to american culture. and he is ready to jump right in and look like a cowboy. we are at the museum in manchester. this is a small exhibit i put up with the staff from the manchester historic association.

with photographs they have in their files from early days. some are over 100 years old. reporter: she says the idea is to show immigration and immigrants always have been and always will be part of new hampshire's history. >> this is one of my favorite pairings because it is so similar in the material in the photographs. in this case, a polish woman playing a mandolin in the 1930's. and w within instrument similar to a lute. it shows there is this interest in the immigrants in being able to continue their cultural traditions. reporter: the book is a nonprofit venture. all proceeds will be donated to organizations working with immigrants and refugees in the

the same story. each refugee and immigrant has a unique journey. you can tell when you watch her in action, she loves to hear each and every word. >> how are you? >> ? reporter: this family came to america through a lottery system. mom and dad were master musicians in their native country and are trying to spread appreciation for their music throughout new hampshire. >> the messages in this project are very many. but primarily, i want people to understand that even though we may have different appearances, different routes, our skin color may be different, our language may be different, we all have the same dreams. we have the same dreams for our

cherise: a michigan barber shop is offering an incentive for young readers. adam: kids who read out loud while getting their hair cut get a discount. for a $10 haircut, kids can get back $2 if they read to their barbers. the kids also get quizzed on what they read. one barber says the program is not only giving the young men confidence, but that it's also making reading cool.
