thanks for waking up with us on this monday. maybe the moon is starting to fade out there, but the warm temperatures are not. walked out this morning, and it felt, well, kind of summery. kevin: we are a solid 20 degrees warmer than we were yesterday at this time, and it looks like the milder air is around for the fist half of this week. a couple of fronts is eventually going to mean shower chances. 40's and 50's early this morning in western and northern areas of the state. the normal suspects seeing the patchy fog early this morning. but even there we give way to partial sunshine, and ranging anywhere from the upper 60's in the north country to lower and mid 70's elsewhere. and again, that will be with partial sunshine, as the warmer air is around through wednesday. much more coming up in just a bit. let's look at your monday morning ride here in the granite state. we're joined live by deb davidson. good morning, deb. deb: good morning, kevin. we are seeing some building volume right now on route 4 westbound as you make your way through newington, between exits 1 and 3. so just be careful out through

everett turnpike, slowing down by the merrimack outlet. on the northbound side, it's slow through exit 5 in nashua. in massachusetts, very slow on 93 southbound from the state line down to exit 43. and then to stoneham. from the wzid traffic network, i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. sean: topping our news -- a rhode island man is facing charges in connection with a stabbing in plymouth sunday morning. officers arrested terrance simmons yesterday afternoon. he's scheduled to face a judge this morning. wmur's ray brewer has the latest on this investigation. good morning, ray. ray: good morning, sean. the stabbing happening just after 4:00 a.m. sunday morning outside ken winter street near policemen uth, which is off campus housing for plymouth state university students. we're told that two of the victims are students. when police arrived at the scene, they found three injured

remains hospitalized. now, officers arresting 19-year-old terrence simmons jr. around 3:00 p.m. sunday. police say they found illegal drugs on him during the arrest. >> we chase this had kid down the street into the woods. we led the police on to that area, and they found some evidence. >> when something like this happens to people that close to you, you really want to try to take care of it and, you know, help as much as you can. it's n ray: simmons is charged with three counts of second degree assault, faces other charges as well, scheduled to be arraigned later today in court. reporting live in preliminary uth, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: this morning, durham police are still looking for the man who allegedly assaulted a store clerk. police say this man walked into sammy's market saturday, assaulted the store clerk, then left. the victim was taken to the hospital with

asked to call durham police. right now, authorities are looking for a missing woman. linda tate and her australian cattle dog were last seen near the tilton-sanborton town line sunday afternoon, but she never returned. officers believe she is wearing clothing similar to this. her dog has a silver training collar and is black. if you have any information, you're planning on checking out the foliage this week, officers want you to be prepared. officials are seeing an increase in accidents because of the amount of tourists hiking and look at the beautiful scenery, but these kinds of problems can be avoided by preparing in advance. >> a lot of the issues that we're having as people are just unprepared. they're not packing things that they should have. they're not bringing any gear in some cases. we're not having good, sturdy

the team work of the officers along with bystanders, the man may not have survived. commitment 2016 coverage now, the third and final presidential dablet is wednesday night. both candidates are trying to prepare as scandals surround both campaigns. meanwhile, fire at a g.o.p. office in north carolina is under investigation this morning. second base's stephanie ramos has more from washington. stephanie: hillary clinton and donald trump taking very different approaches as they head into the final presidential debate just two days away. clinton, staying put at a suburban hotel in new york to prep for the last face-to-face with trump, as her campaign deals with another wikileaks hack. more emails released over the weekend believed to be stolen from campaign chairman john podesta's account. the f.b.i. suspects russian hackers are to blame. this as authorities in north carolina investigate a fire at a g.o.p. office this weekend.

nearly 300 girls were kidnapped in april of 2014 in a mass abduction that shocked the world. at least 197 remain captive. this is the first negotiated release organized by the government and the islamic extremeist group. caught on camera, about a dozen good samaritans reached a man who was stuck in a burning s.u.v. it happened sunday in florida. bystanders formed a human chain to reach the vehicle that crashed in an embankmen from the car and get him away from the fire, but police say he became combative for some reason, and they had to restrain him before he went to the hospital. it was a very active weather weekend in the pacific northwest, as the remnants of a typhoon slammed into that region. thousands of residents in oregon and washington remain without power while crews work to remove downed trees there. at least 128 buildings were damaged when a tornado touched

scandal. state agencies will no longer be able to hire the bank in financial services contracts for one year. wells fargo will be banned from participating in high highway's future debt sales for the next year, and kasich will try to exclude the bank from participating in bond sales by the ohio public facilities commission. happening today -- restrictions are being eased on some of cuba's most famous exports. travelers to cuba can now bring home a normal import amount of personal use. for the first time, american travelers will be allowed to bring home cuban cigars and other alcohol purchased in any other country, but you still won't be able to order them online. of course, cuban cigars, very famous. now you can buy them elsewhere, bring them home. you don't have to smuggle them in the suitcase like a lot of people do. i didn't do it. i'm just saying. kevin: you've heard of it. you are the news guy.

pay no attention to the arachnid on the camera here. sean: oh, gosh. should we be worried about this? kevin: no, we should be worried about what's behind it, which is the patchy fog. sean: because that's got to be 100 feet long. do i have the scale wrong there? kevin: yeah, i think the fact it's on the camera -- you know the objects appearing bigger than they are. we start off early this morning with patchy fog early this morning, and we're going to continue to see what looks like a fairly quiet start to the day across the area, eventua temperatures. as a matter of fact, as we go through the day today, we are expecting temperatures into the afternoon to make their way up anywhere from the upper 60's to mid 70's by later on this afternoon. a day that eventually sets up what will be a warmer stretch of weather that goes all the way through wednesday, eventually a front comes through early wednesday morning, and that will start knocking temperatures back. 60's thursday and friday. and then 50's to lower 60's by the time we get to next weekend. so three days of some warmer temperatures out there.

northern areas of the state very early this morning. should eventually give way to partial sunshine into the afternoon. here's the warm front here through the great lakes that will cross the state overnight tonight. with that, a few showers for the northern half of the state. temperatures in the 40's and 50's. a very mild start to the day, considering the last few mornings, where we were in the 20's to lower range of the 30's. and we're running a solid 20 degrees above that. there's the fog. and again, thickest in western and northern areas. it may take several hours to burn off early this morning. i think beyond that, again, equally a warmer finish as well, as we'll in the lower and mid 70's. the cooler air just locked up in southern parts of canada for the time being. all it takes is a little switch in the wind correction, which eventually starts to occur thursday and friday to eventually bring that back down into the northeast. 68 to 76 today from north to south. looking at temperatures up into the mid 70's. going to take a good portion of the day to get to these numbers. it isn't like a day where, in the middle of july, where you're warm all day long.

clouds will approach later on this afternoon, and eventually tonight there will be showers making their way through. looks like the best chance will be during the overnight hours with the warm front. and notice what happens here on future cast tomorrow. clouds slowly releasing as you get up into the north country. while you'll have the sunshine for a good part of the day in southern areas. if it occurs that way, there could be a very large stretch of temperatures from near 60 up north to maybe near 80 in southern areas tomorrow afternoon. front will come through early on wednesday, and it's behind that that the cooler we'll still in the 70's on wednesday, but then starting to go back and fade into the 60's by thursday and friday. 40's and 50's to start. low and mid 70's by later on this afternoon with partial sunshine across the area. and mainly fair skies going forward. our best chance of showers between now and thursday, looks to be overnight tonight with a warm front coming through. and if you see some sunshine tomorrow afternoon, it looks like temperatures will be up well into the 70's, which is where we'll be on wednesday before we start to cool off. clouds will start to race back

the bow junction. 93, already stop and go down into boston. and route 3 south is slow from the drum are you rotary. from the traffic network, i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. sean: a rhode island man accused of stabbing three people over the weekend is expected to face a judge today. 19-year-old terrence simmons jr. is scheduled to be arraigned on num second degree assault. ray brewer jones us live this ray, is there any word on how the victims in this case are doing? ray: sean, we're hearing that two of the victims were treated and released from the hospital, and while at last check, the third remain hospitalized, all three are expected to be all right. plymouth police say just after 4:00 a.m. sunday, three people were stabbed on winter street. >> pulled out of the driveway,

blocked off, and they waved us through. ray: officers found three injured males, two of them students at plymouth state university. >> i watched the whole thing happened. i wish i could have done more. it's very unfortunate. ray: nicholas says the victims are his friends. police tell us they found a knife that was allegedly used during the incident down the street from where the stabbing happened, but the suspect had fled the scene. >> you see this stuff happen in like movies or tv shows, and they're on the hunt looking for the guy and eveth never really think that it's going to happen to you, your friends. ray: around 3:00 sunday afternoon, police received a tip that led them to the location of the suspect, 19-year-old terrence simmons jr. of newport, rhode island. plymouth state student edward says he witnessed the stabbing, but wouldn't say what led up to it. >> when something like this happens to people that are that close to you, you really want to try to take care of it and, you know, help as much as you can. it's not every day that

ray: during the arrest, police say that simmons was found to be in possession of illegal drugs. right now he's behind bars, pending his arraignment later today. reporting live in plymouth, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: all right, ray, thanks. the man accused of shooting a woman in belmont is also due in court today. police say jason cuocolo shot a 33-year-old woman in the head last tuesday at a home on arlene drive. the victim is expected to survive. authorities say cuocolo he was arrested on friday near route 3 in meredith. nashua police are asking for your help in locating an s.u.v. involved in a hit-and-run that killed a dog. the incident happened around 12:30 yesterday afternoon in the area of 26 hanover street. a woman says her daughter was walking two dogs when a light blue s.u.v. came by and hit the animals. one of the dogs died. the other survived, but now needs surgery.

cleared out. patchy, dense fog in western areas and a few northern spots. we jump into the 60's and 70's today. the milder air hangs around through mid week. we'll talk about the shower chances along with future cast coming up. sean: kevin, thanks. iraq's military launched a major operation overnight to try to retake the city of mosul from isis militants. some 30,000 iraqi troops are taking part in the operation backed by u.s.-led coalition air strikes. they're 5,000 isis fighters who are holding the city of about one million people. the operation could take months to complete. it could be called -- it is being called, i should say, the toughest battle for iraq's military since american troops left nearly five years ago. the country's prime minister announced the start of the operation. and the operations to liberate mosul have begun. i am announcing today the beginning of these heroic

the dirt coming in my mouth, pieces of car parts were flying all over the place. sean: sepolio was arrested at the hospital on suspicion of driving under the influence. an olympic runner is mourning the loss of his 15-year-old daughter. tyson gay's daughter, trinity, was shot and killed early yesterday morning in a parking lot in kentucky. police say she was shot in the neck when two groups of men started firing at each other. one man has been arrested in connection with that shooting. firefighters in boston are tr sparked a fire that caused nearly a million dollars in damage to a building on newbury street. the fire broke out last night on the fist floor of a four-story brownstone. there are no reports of any injuries. that's the good news. a restaurant and art gallery sustained significant damage, estimated at about $900,000. rain is helping firefighters in nevada get the upper hand on a major wildfire that destroyed 22 homes. right now the fire is 20% contained, and crews say they

however, hundreds of other structures are being threatened. there are now concerns of flooding and land slides and mandatory evacuations remain in place. a team of vets came to the rescue of a rhino in zimbabwe after finding it in an unusual predicament. the rhino got a tire stuck over its snout. according to sky news, the tire had been dumped in a watering hole. the rhino could not eat or drink so vets were called in to tranquilize the animal and remove that tire. turning now to sports. tom brady played his first game at gillette stadium yesterday since his deflategate suspension. the fans were ready for number 12's return as the pats took on the cincinnati bengals. the pats offense didn't wake up until the end of the first half. brady passed to james white, who jogged in for the score, giving new england a 10-7 lead. cincinnati regained the lead in

and then you hear -- sean: just numbers sitting there. kevin: fascinating. sean: it's like a google system in my brain. kevin: my jaw is agape. start off early this morning, scomplow mid level clouds this morning, and yes, in the western half of the state, patchy fog. but once that eventually gives way, it is partly to mostly sunny skies, the beginning of three fairly warm days for this time of year with highs mainly in the 70's. we're still going to kind of hang on to a couple of upper 60's in lower today and possibly tomorrow as well. but we are looking at the warmer temperatures out there. the fog continues to develop in some western and northern areas, but it will take a few hours to burn off this morning. had a front come through during the evening and overnight hours, and that's since moved to the south, but kind of stretched along that is another warm front that eventually will be crossing the state later on tonight. that's probably between now and thursday, will be our best chance of rain overnight tonight. temperatures in the 50's for the most part in southern parts

valleys. but 50's for most early this morning, 40's in the north country, and going to see temperatures go from the upper 60's to mid 70's this afternoon. tomorrow, the trickiest of the days, because as the warm front comes through, some areas will get into the sunshine, while others will be hung up in the lower range of the 60's. there's the fog again, western half of the state early this morning, normal suspects there, which will take a few hours to burn off. but 70 to 75 for the southern half of the state. mid and upper 6 sunshine. the clouds continue to thicken up in some western and southern areas of the state later this afternoon. not expecting much of a risk of a shower through this evening. it's overnight tonight as the front comes through, a line of showers come with it. lows in the 40's and 50's. southern new hampshire versus northern new hampshire today, notice how skies clear in southern areas, and it may take all day farther north. that sets up a huge difference in temperature from either side of 60 in northern areas, and

to approaching 80 in southern spots with enough sunshine tomorrow. front will come through early on wednesday, a stray shower with that. the cooler air really starts to come in wednesday, so we'll have another day where temperatures again will be up into the 70'sment cooler air wins out. 60's for highs thursday and friday. it looks like the next system coming with a front will be on friday, and it looks like the showers will be likely, a couple of maps hinting at showers trying to hold on into saturday as it stands. we're going to have to see. there's kind of a weak that will try to slow down the front as it comes through. but 70's through wednesday, 60's thursday and friday. and then 50's to lower 60's as we get our way into the weekend. sean: a little warm for now, though. kevin: absolutely. sean: pumpkins were flying through the air at the new hampshire motor speedway over the weekend. teams from as far way as virginia used catapults and air guns. some of the pumpkins weighed more than 1,000 pounds. these are big pumpkins.
