a good tuesday morning. we begin with donald trump's wife coming to his defense and dismissing his 2005 comments about grabbing women as boy talk. >> breaking her silence melania trump also rejecting the allegations of nine women who say her husband groped or kissed them against their will. and she's echoing his claim that the media is trying to derail his campaign. meantime, trump talked to abc news aut that the election is rigged. abc's stephanie ramos has the latest for us from washington. good morning, stephanie. >> reporter: kendis and diane, good morning. you've got it, melania trump sitting down for the first time to talk about donald trump's sexually aggressive comments on that bus but she's not only talking about that, she's also talking about the election agreeing with her husband that it may be rigged. melania trump hasn't said much throughout the campaign season but she's speaking out now about her husband's infamous hot mike

you know, the language is unappropriate. it's not acceptable. >> reporter: melania speaking to cnn about trump's so-called locker room talk on that "access hollywood" bus. >> i'm wondering when you first saw it, when you first heard it, what did you think? >> they were kind of a boy talk and he was lead on like egg on from the host to say dirty and bad stuff. >> when you're a star they l you can do anything. >> whatever you want. >> grab them by the [ bleep ]. >> reporter: in an interview set to air on "good morning america" donald trump says he's never crossed the line with women ever. >> i don't think so. i have great respect for women. i have tremendous respect for women. these people come up, maybe for a little fame or maybe for some other reason or maybe because they're a part of the clinton campaign. >> reporter: the gop nominee insisting with no proof that there's a conspiracy to rig the election. >> people are coming in to vote
4:33 am
right to vote and coming in and voting. and you're not surprised to hear this. you see it all over the country but there's tremendous voter fraud, and we really want it stopped. it can make the difference between winning and losing in an election. >> reporter: meanwhile, hillary clinton is behind closed doors practicing for the final presidential debate. her husband and daughter stepping in for her at this glitzy star-studded fund-raiser in new york city last night. >> in 3 weeks after 240 years and 56 elections, the united states will have its first woman president. >> reporter: a new national cbs poll shows clinton with an 11-point lead over trump a day before they face off on the debate stage for one last showdown. kendis, diane. >> those polls also showing that she has a lead in colorado where donald trump has several events today. stephanie, thank you. trump has been lashing out at house speaker paul ryan since
4:34 am
>> during that interview conducted in his home state he took another swipe suggesting the speaker may want him to lose. >> i think he can be more supportive to the republican nominee. we're doing well. i think we're going to win the election. >> do you think he wants you to win? >> well, maybe not because maybe he wants to run in four years. or maybe he doesn't know how to win. maybe he doesn't know how to win. i mean, who can really know? >> trump also slammed other republicans who have pulled their support or even expressed confidence that the ec day two of the battle to recapture iraq's second largest city from isis and about 30,000 iraqi government troops and kurdish fighters are out on the outskirts of mosul. >> progress is slow as they're met by rockets and in some cases suicide bombers in trucks. abc's alex marquardt joins us now from the phone from iraq. alex, how is it looking right now? >> reporter: good morning, kendis. good morning, diane. well, you're absolutely right. there is progress but it is slow.
4:35 am
sources are telling us that everything is going according to plan, but that the progress is slow. this is a battle, keep in mind, that was expected to take weeks or months and so the initial push towards mosul was to liberate villages in the plains around the city of mosul where we understand there's still around 1 million people and we understand around 25 villages have now been liberated both between the kurdish forces who we have spent time with as well as the iraqi forces. the kurds now say that after the initial advance on the first day they're going to dig in. they're going to hold back and let the bulk of the forces who are iraqi make that push, so what we're hearing this morning is that a new push is under way but as you noted that can be slow, not just because of the suicide bombers that isis has sent forward, and they claim to have sent around a dozen of them to meet the incoming advance yesterday, but it's also
4:36 am
ieds, improvised explosive devices, all along the roads and in the fields, so it's very complicated and it's very slow going. >> alex, i know you're at a refugee camp right now. what's the situation like there? >> reporter: well, i'm in a refugee camp just outside of erbil where there's 30,000. many of the people who we have spoken with have come from the villages and towns under isis control. we spoke with a man name he was saying he and his brothers were on a list of 250 people to kill in their village by isis because they did not support isis. now, the u.n. has warned that around a million people could flee the fighting from mosul. so far we have not seen that happening yet. keep in mind, the battle is barely 36 hours old. so in the coming weeks and possibly months there could be
4:37 am
to a million people who do flee that fighting. the u.n. and other aid agencies warning this could be the biggest humanitarian crisis this year. the u.n. officials who are speaking with now are certainly bracing themselves for it. we know that the emergency camps that have been set up by the u.n. and other agencies can only accommodate several hundred thousand, so there's still a great need, and there's a great fear, in fact, that that million dollar -- sorry -- that million person number could be reached. >> abc's alex marquardt joining us from iraq where isis is not giving up easily. thank you. we've got some more breaking news from that region. overnight russia announced it has stopped air strikes on the syrian city of aleppo. just yesterday moscow promised an eight-hour pause on thursday so the residents could leave the city. united nations agencies said that wasn't enough time. they wanted 48 hours. also yesterday russian and syrian air strikes killed at least three dozen people, 14 of
