artie started early voting whether by mail, absentee ballots, or in person. they expect about 45 million americans to cast their ballots before election day on november 8. shelley: thank you for joining us live from las vegas tonight. tonight, the latest wmur granite state poll shows hillary clinton's lead is growing in new hampshire. she now leads donald trump 48 to 33%. we also asked people for one word to describe each candidate. this word cloud shows what democrats said in blue and republicans in red. for clinton, democrats said experienced and qualified most often. republicans said liar and dishonest. most republicans used businessman to describe trump. democrats said idiot and disgusting most often and a word we can't say on t.v.. interestingly, people of both parties described trump as

today senator kelly ayotte picked up law enforcement support. the new hampshire troopers association, the manchester police patrolmen's association, and the new england narcotics enforcement officers association all endorsed the incumbent senator over governor maggie hassan. they endorsed senator ayotte because of her work fighting the drug crisis and her support for law enforcement. >> having been involved in the program and having been a narcotics always been on the front lines, literally, sometimes in a police cruiser, to make sure she is well informed of the situation in new hampshire. and i feel she will continue to do so. shelley: senator ayotte thanked the officers for keeping new hampshire communities safe and vowed to continue her support for law enforcement. the use of deadly force against a man in claremont last month has been ruled justified. tonight we are seeing the days and minutes leading up to the shooting of cody lafont by a claremont police officer.

jean: the attorney general's office met with the family of cody lafont to share the details of this 25 page report before making it public. and we are told it was a very emotional meeting. the investigation reveals 25-year-old cody lafont was out with friends before they dropped him off at his home in claremont at 4 am on sunday september 25. investigators say mr. lafont had been drinking alcohol throughout the evening, and appeared to those with him to be heavily intoxicated, but not belligerent, aggressive, or despondent. he then called 911 several times requesting an officer come talk to him, something he had done in the past. when claremont police cpl. ian kibbe walked up to the screen door he says he spotted a gun in lafont's hand and repeatedly ordered him to drop it. investigators determined, mr. lafont did not say anything, strangely smiled at corporal

the officer while moving the revolver that he held in the officer's direction. believing that mr. lafont was going to shoot him and fearing for his life corporal kibbe fired his service weapon three times. lafont was shot in the chest. the use of deadly force ruled legally justified. >> it's a tragic circumstance for all involved. general report was shared with his family. >> it's a very emotional meeting. we understand that a young man died. it's a tragic circumstance, but in the end, this tragic circumstance was legally justified. jean: at a september vigil at the claremont speedway where lafont spent his free time his mother said her son suffered from depression and had called 911 in the past. as a result of this

charges will be filed against cpl kibbe. in concord, jean mackin, wmur news9. shelley: tonight, this man is one of three under arrest, after a manhunt in an epping neighborhood. police say it all started with an attempted robbery inside a home. the alleged victim says one of the suspects hit him in the head with a gun. wmur's kristen pope is live in epping tonight with the story. >> tonight, all is quiet on lamprey village drive. but this afternoon, people were and the high school put on lockdown during the manhunt. >> i'm feeling like i'm a little overwhelmed. >> dylan czubaruk says 3 men came to his home to rob him and he says one of them was not a stranger. >> someone i once knew from back in school came to my house asking to hang out and i told him i didn't want to hang out and he asked me if my dog bit and then like came into my home, pleading to hang out with me. i didn't not want to hang out

he left and then about a minute later, two gentlemen came in my house with a firearm and strong held me, attacked me and asking for anything to take. >> epping police say an officer on patrol in the neighborhood noticed a suspicious car on the block, went into dylan's home and caught two of the men. police say the third suspect ran away. as officers came to search the area for him one neighbor noticed someone near his property. >> we dispatched the seaboard emergency rese team to go out and search that property. they did search and find the suspect hiding in a shed behind a property. >> officers arrested raul natareno. he's being charged with burglary, robbery, conspiracy to purchase drugs and resisting arrest or apprehension. police have not named the other suspects who are facing separate charges. czubaruk did not need any medical attention. police say the 3 men are

live in epping, kristen pope wmur news 9. shelley: police say a teenager from derry used a bow and arrow to stop a stranger from entering his home. investigators say the attempted robbery happened on pond road. the teen was home with his younger brother at the time. the boys called 911 and were able to chase 31-year-old david mccumber of manchester off the property. police arrived and took the suspect into custody. the boys say they are thankful no one was hurt. >> i went outside and confronted them and started screaming at them and telling them to leave. i did not know he was in a relation with our neighbor, so i chased him up the street so he wouldn't harm anyone else. >> the police came from every direction, apprehended him and took him off. i'm just so proud of my sons. they are very brave. shelley: mccumber was arraigned

indecent exposure charge for allegedly exposing himself on a school bus in goffstown. police say they received a call that a male driver was following the bus and not wearing any pants. officers arrested 21-year-old matthew dube of lawrence, mass on monday. he is scheduled to be in court for a probable cause hearing on october 27. crews are now removing the lift towers from the sarah long bridge between portsmouth and kittery. kittery. workers floated out the middle they removed the top of the tower yesterday. the company in charge of the construction plans to have both towers removed by november 18. a replacement bridge is expected to open in september 2017. helping veterans. coming up on news 9 tonight how two american heroes are using a movie to bring awareness to our vets. and, an army reserve officer now owes thousands after nearly dying from a heart attack on

u.s. fighters are part of the fight to re-take mosul their role includes helicopter strikes. major general gary volesky says isis forces are retreating into the city of mosul. using the star power of hollywood production, the seacoast bureau of the group veterans count continues to raise money and awareness for vets coming home. as wmur's cherise leclerc shows us, two american heroes were on hand to call attention to veterans struggling to find a normal life afde cherise: a powerful and emotional night here in portsmouth where the movie 13 hours was screened. it portrays the attack in 2012, 1 of the men whose life it was based on was here tonight speaking, hoping to raise awareness and money for veterans whose struggle coming home.

now nearly 12 months later he still has tens of thousands in unpaid medical bills. morgan says the army violated their own regulations by taking months to investigate the medical incident. a memo informing the captain his heart attack was not considered in the line of duty prompted this army couple to go public with their story. times first because i know that goes right to the heart of every military member. i knew i would have to drive this because shane didn't have a voice. he couldn't talk because he is in the military. i am not in the militiary so i can do what i need to do. shelley: in the wake of the new publicity the army told the morgans the case is being reopened. an investigator from georgia arrives tomorrow. numerous army officials were contacted for this story but could not comment.

there, still some fine fall color across the mountains but the conditions that just passed in the great north woods. a little more that great fall foliage over the next few days. this week in you will see a big leave drop. leaves will be falling all over the place during the next several days, especially this upcoming weekend. very cool out there tonight. tomorrow, not d low to mid 60's as opposed to mid to upper 70's. the best chance of rain comes in later tomorrow night. look at the high temperatures today, lower to mid 70's, even some upper 70's from concord and points out. the old record in portsmouth still stands at 80. the record in concord still stands at 82.

a little cooler but still nice and mild in the monadnock region and the upper valley. upper 30's north, 40's for many, and that's basically how the temperature pattern will line up for the next several hours. on average, 40's for many and low 50's in downtown manchester and right at the coast. cool front has begun to move through. it means that wins shift to the northwestod will see the winds kicking on shore. the water temperature only at 58 or 59 degrees. much cooler temperatures for the late morning and afternoon. shower chances begin to increase later tomorrow afternoon and a better shot is tomorrow night into friday night. very little rain chance through lunchtime tomorrow but in the
