15 minutes in, the personal attacks began. and then what many are calling trump's october bombshell -- his refusal to say he will accept the election results. in yet another debate filled with more memorable moments, a basic foundation of democracy steals the show. chris: do you make the same commitment that you will absolutely, sir -- that you will absolutely accept the result of this election? mr. trump: i will tell you at the time. i'll keep you in suspense, ok? mrs. clinton: well, chris, let me respond to that, because that's horrifying. maggie: the night quickly turning personal. mr. trump: such a nasty woman. mrs. clinton: i think he's unfit. maggie: but the two candidates did start things off by talking policies, from abortion and immigration -- mr. trump: we have some bad hombres here and we're going to get them out. mrs. clinton: he started his campaign bashing immigrants, calling mexican immigrants criminals rapists and drug dealers. maggie: to foriegn policy. clinton calling out trump's relationship with russian president vladamir putin -- mrs. clinton: he'd rather have a puppet as president. mr. trump: no puppet, no puppet. mrs. clinton: and it's pretty clear -- mr. trump: you're the puppet.

women. mrs. clinton: he goes after their dignity, their self-worth. and i don't think there is a woman anywhere who doesn't know what that feels like. maggie: to which trump offered a blanket denial. mr. trump: nobody has more respect for women than i do. nobody. maggie: the debate was trump's last chance to confront and try to regain momentum, as the latest polls show clinton pulling away with the race. maggie rulli, abc news, washington. sean: hillary clinton is getting some big name support here in new hampshire today. vice president joe biden is stumping for the democratic nominee during an event at nashua community college this afternoon. doors open at 11:45, and the event starts at 1:45. and republican vice presidential nominee mike pence is holding a rally at exeter town hall tomorrow evening. doors for that event open at 4:30. erin: three men charged in connection with an attempted robbery in epping that resulted

court today, and the alleged victim says one of the suspects hit him on the head with a gun. wmur's ray brewer is live in epping this morning to explain the frightening situation. good morning, ray. ray: good morning, erin. it certainly was a tense situation in at the yesterday afternoon, nearby residents told to shelter in place, the high school put in lockdown. it afternoon, according to police, when three men broke into a house on lamprey village drive. the alleged victim says he knew one of the men from school. he also says one of the men hit him with a gun, and that the suspects asked for money several times. a police officer happened to be on patrol in the area at the time, noticed a suspicious vehicle, and was able to catch two of the men. a manhunt ensued for the third suspect until a neighbor spotted him.

emergency response contact team to go out and search their property. they did search and find the suspect hiding in a shed behind the property. ray: raul natareno faces several charges including burglary, robbery, and resisting arrest. police have not identified the other two suspects in the case, but all three are expected in court today. again, the victim did not require any medical attention. reporting live in epping, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: ts. overnight fire at a marina in wolfeboro. when firefighters arrived on bay street just after 11:00 last night, they found heavy fire coming from a building owned by the saw-mill marina boating club. crews were able to contain the fire and salvage many of the records and computer equipment. there was only minor damage to a boat storage building next door. erin: a teenager in derry says he grabbed a bow and arrow when a stranger tried to break into his home. two teenaged brothers were home

pond road. andrew kennedy says he told his brother to call 911 while he got his bow and chased the man away. andrew: i went outside and confronted him, screaming at him, telling him to leave. when he eventually did, i did not know he was in relation with our neighbor, so i chased him down the street so he would not harm ae erin: 31-year-old david mccumber of manchester faces a total of four charges, and is due back in court next week. sean: two new hampshire men accused of blowing up a newspaper box in salem, massachusetts are due in court today. the blast back in august destroyed a box for the rainbow times, an lgbt newspaper. police say 23-year-old john richard of hollis and 20-year-old lawrence gilman of milford were responsible for

isn't enought evidence to charge them with a hate crime. a nashua man is accused of crashing a stolen car along interstate 93 in windham. state police say 24-year-old victor rosario hit an electronic construction sign while trying to pass traffic in the breakdown witnesses say he was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. police say rosario ran off after the crash, but he was arrested a short time later. erin: daybreak -- making sure veterans count how two heroes are using hollywood success to help returning veterans. sean: case reopened. a local reservist owes a lot of medical bills after suffering a heart attack and he says the , army should pay.

kevin: i live look from the charter trust building and concord. a few 30's in the north country. a little bit patchy fog. otherwise, fair skies a cooler temperatures, a trend that will continue going forward. we talk about rain chances, coming up. sean: a chilly start to the day. the real life heroes behind the films "13 hours" and "black hawk down" were in new hampshire last night to raise awareness and money for veterans struggling after returning from deployment. erin: kris paronto and retired colonel danny mcknight were in portsmouth on behalf of the

the u.s. consulate in benghazi, libya were immortalized in the film "13 hours," which was screened last night. both men say the hollywood films have brought more attention to veterans' issues. >> i think that shows people what really can happen, and we do have young men and women that will face it, come back home, and he said it -- some of them struggle. we need to be there for them. erin: 90 cents of every dollar raised last night went directly to veterans' services. sean: an army reserve captain from milford who nearly died last year during a physical fitness test says he's is facing tens of thousands of dollars in unpaid medical bills. >> i was in the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform, doing the right thing. and those are the things the army preaches, all day every day. sean: captain shane morgan had a heart attack during an army-mandated test at fort devens in massachusetts. morgan says the army violated their own regulations by taking months to investigate the

public after being told that his heart attack was not considered "in the line of duty." >> i wanted to hit "the army times" first, because i know that goes right to the heart of every military member. i knew i would have to drive this, because shane didn't have a voice. he couldn't talk, because he's in the military. i'm not in the military so i can do what i need to do. sean: the army is reopening the case and an investigator from georgia arrives today. so far no army officials have commented to news 9. but we will try to keep you updated on that situation. erin: it is now 6:13. coming up, great news for the north country, when dozens of new jobs are coming to a former paper bill.

sean: federal health officials are now urging all pregnant women who have spent any time in florida's miami-dade county recently to get tested for zika. until now, the cdc had only recommended testing for those who had been in so-called hot zones. officials say there have been more than 150 cases of zika in miami dade county since august, blamed on local mosquitoes. the cdc is also adopting new recommendations for the hpv vaccine. health officials now say pre-teens only need to get two shots instead of three, and that the shots should be ed to 12 months apart. doctors hope this will help increase the number of 11 and 12-year-olds who get the shots. right now, less than a third of 13-year-olds have gotten three doses. erin: dozens of new jobs are coming to the north country. nsa industries, a sheet metal manufaturer based in vermont, signed a long-term lease yesterday to expand operations into groveton. the plan is to start new operations at the former wausau paper mill early next year,

jobs there, including machining and welding. the paper mill closed back in 2007, putting hundreds of people out of work. tesla is preparing for the day when drivers are not needed. the automaker announced late yesterday that all new teslas will be made with complete self-driving hardware. ceo elon musk says the features in the new cars will make them significantly safer than having a human driver, and they will even be able to see clearly through fog and rain, though the features will add several thousand dollars in cost. sean: they have said fog and stuff like that can confuse the systems, but i cannot wait to hop in my car and say, "take me to work." but make sure you look up every now and then and go to the right place. erin: there is a steering wheel. you can take control if you need

cellphone lot at that point? because you are not actually driving? there are a lot of steps. sean: let us give weather and discuss this. kevin: let's do to and a half minutes of whether first. the general trend for today will be increasing trend -- increasing clouds. high temperatures this afternoon from the upper 50's to mid 60's. not quite the levels we have had for a couple of days this week, where temperatures of jumped into the 70's. into the 70's. the chance of a late a shower fog overnight. we have other scattered showers, but temperatures will drop into the 60's. a little humidity. eventually, that entire system moves across the state later friday night and early saturday. if we are going to see more organized, heavier rainfall, it would be friday night or early saturday. the winds pick up out of the

potential for the first snowflakes this season in far northern areas. we are talking north of the notches in the northern half of koresh county. we will see a push of this moisture, eventually to our northwest. there is a lot of moisture located offshore. it is starting to creep northeast and try to absorb into the system. that might enhance the rainfall down the line. amateurs around freezing mark up north. 25 degrees cooler than we were yesterday at this time. back to the west, warming again. tomorrow will be in the 60's statewide. today, upper 50's, freezing -- upper 50's in the afternoon. the best chance of a freeze will be in northern and western areas.

continuing to stream north. scattered showers overnight. patchy fog as well. this entire system eventually moves across the state later friday evening and very early saturday morning. the map still mixed on exactly when this is going to move out saturday morning. though that is key as far as saturday plans are concerned for outdoor activities, the map is still a little bit undecided as to exactly when that is going to happen. there still could be a couple of passing showers in the afternoon on saturday. the mavs eventually agree on that. into the upper 50's to lower 60's. maybe a late day shower. but most of today's drive. tomorrow a little warmer and a little more humid, with scattered showers and overcast skies. the wind picks up out of the northwest. that starts to drag down cooler air, which we will have for the next four or five days. pretty good wind around on saturday, where wind could gust up to 30 mph as the system starts to pull away.

let's check our top stories. here's ray brewer. ray: an alleged home invasion and epping sent high school into lockdown yesterday afternoon. it was around 1:00 when three men broke into a home. a police officer happened to be on patrol in the area at the time. noticed a suspicious vehicle. was able to catch two of the men. a manhunt ensued for the third suspect, sending the high school into lockdown. neighbors told to shelter in pl captured. all three men are due in court. sean: a nashua man is accused of crashing a stolen car along interstate 93 in windham. state police say 24-year-old victor rosario hit an electronic construction sign while trying to pass traffic in the breakdown lane late yesterday morning. two new hampshire men one from hollis, the other from milford accused of blowing up a newspaper box in salem, massachusetts. they are doing court today. the blast back in august destroyed a box for "the rainbow times," an lgbt newspaper.

from lebanon to concord in massachusetts, it is slow from andover into boston. with triple team traffic reports throughout the day, i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. erin: hillary clinton and donald trump faced off in their final debate in las vegas last night. the debate got heated at times, with both candidates talking over each other. trump was asked about his claim that the election is rigged. but he refused to say if he would accept the results. were recently published by wikileaks. we'll have highlights from the final face-off coming up in a live report from our washington bureau. erin: three men accused of a violent attempted robbery in epping are expected to make a court appearance today. sean: police say this man, raul natareno, was one of the people involved in the crime. the alleged victim says the three men came to his home to rob him, and one of them hit in the head with a gun. ray brewer joins us live in

good morning, ray. ray: good morning, sean. certainly a tense scene here in epping yesterday afternoon. people on lamprey village drive were told to stay inside their homes, and the high school was put on lockdown, as police launched a manhunt for the suspects in that attempted robbery. dylan czubaruk says three men came to his home wednesday afternoon to rob him, and one of them was not a stranger. dylan: someone i once knew from back in school came to my house him i didn't want to hang out. and he asked me if my dog bit, and then, like, came into my home, pleading to hang out with me. i did not want to hang out with him. he left, and then about a minute later, two gentlemen came in my house with a firearm and strong-held me, attacked me, and were looking for anything to take. ray: despite being hit with the gun, czubaruk did not need medical attention. epping police say an officer on patrol in the neighborhood noticed a suspicious car on the

and caught two of the men. the third suspect ran away and a manhunt was launched. police say they eventually found the suspect, raul natareno, hiding in a shed. he is now facing several charges, including burglary and robbery. police have not yet identified the other two suspects. again all three men are due in court later today. reporting live in epping, ray brewer, wmur news 9. erin: tnk that a deadly officer-involved shooting in claremont last month was justified. a report, released yesterday, says that 25-year-old cody lafont was drinking alcohol before calling police several times. investigators say lafont was holding a gun when a claremont officer responded to his calls, and he refused to drop the weapon. corporal ian kibbe says the gun was moved in his direction, and

lafont's mother told news 9 that her son suffered from depression and called 911 in the past. >> we understand that a young man who was loved by many friends and many family died. and it's a tragic circumstance, but in the end this tragic circumstance was legally justified. erin: the claremont officer will not face any criminal charges. sean: a massachusetts man is accused of exposing himself to students on board a school bus in goffstown last month. 21-year-old matthew dube is now police say he was following a bus in his car, when he allegedly exposed himself to a group of high schoolers. the students were able to get video of the suspect. dube is due back in court next week. well a man from maine is due in , court in conway today. 32-year-old ricky morin is wanted in maine for attempted rape, and faces theft charges in the granite state. police say he also made threats against law enforcement. morin was arrested without incident yesterday after being

erin: the grandmother of a man charged in connection with the death of his stepson is speaking out. it is not yet clear how leo witham's 19-month-old stepson died two weeks ago. police say they found an open package of fentanyl in the motel room where witham was living with the child. witham's grandmother says she tried to help him and his family thru tough times. last week, witham's attorney said he was trying to get help fodr >> i really believe in my heart and soul that he did not cause this. that little one gave me a big hug and a kiss just two days before this happened. i will never forget. erin: witham is now facing child endangerment and drug charges. authorities say he could face additional charges once it's determined how the little boy died. sean: new on daybreak -- a

has been sentenced to 18 months behind bars for possessing a weapon. the attorney general's office says officials found a six-inch plastic stabbing weapon in joshua starr's cell during a routine search last november. this was the second time starr was caught with a weapon. he was initially sent to prison for an armed carjacking. also new this morning -- two people were taken to the hospital last night after a car crashed into a building in manchester. the accident happened shortly after 10:00 on notre dame avenue this crash remain under investigation. erin: crews are now removing the lift towers from the sarah long bridge between portsmouth and kittery. workers floated out the middle section of the bridge last week. they removed the top of the tower on tuesday. the company in charge plans to have both towers removed by november 18. a replacement bridge is expected to open in september of 2017. sean: nashua has made a new list of the best cities to raise a child with asthma.

consult with friends of mine. it is going to come down right to the wire. erin: according to a cnn-orc poll of debate watchers 52% said clinton won the debate while 39% said trump was the winner. sean: the animal rescue league of boston is issuing a warning to pet owners in mattapan. officials say they've identified a potentially deadly virus outbreak that's affecting cats. it's called panleukopenia. >> distemper. it is a virus that attacks the g.i. system and can attack the bone marrow as well, causing a decrease in white blood cells. it primarily causes vomiting, diarrhea, fever, lethargy. sean: experts say the virus is highly contagious but the vaccine is very effective. the animal rescue league of boston will hold a free vaccination clinic on saturday. erin: a man in florida got an unpleasant surprise while driving down the road.

went on to win it 3-0. on tuesday night they will host either chicago or l.a. in game one of the world series. if the indians win it will be their first world series victory since 1948. sean: on the hard court, the celtics hosted the new york knicks last night for their final exhibition game. the first round pick continues to impress. jalen brown got the start and led the c's with 17 points. but in the end the knicks went on to win it 121-96. the celts did not play many of their key guys. no isiah thomas, al horford, jae crowder, and avery bradley all sat this one out. erin: with a halloween just around the corner a new survey is revealing america's favorite trick-or-treat candies. candy corn was named the top candy in five states. other popular choices included reese's peanut butter cups. doesn't everyone loves those? sean: yes. erin: as long as you like peanut butter. kit kats and butterfingers.

hampshire's favorite halloween candy is the tootsie roll. how about that? sean: it is a cell and. dummies are where i'm at now. good news for those of you who get along well with your co-workers. a new study shows you could have better health than those who don't. researchers found that people who identify strongly with their colleagues, or with their employer, have better overall health and a lower risk of burnout. i guess that makes sense. the study also found that those workers perform their jobs better than those who do not li erin: that is why we are so healthy here on "daybreak." sean: and very efficient. day with fair skies. sunshine early this morning will fade behind clouds as the day wears on. as the system approaches, we are looking at scattered shower activity. the best chance today will be in western and northern areas of the state into the afternoon. most of this moisture actually angles northeast and stays to our west for the time being. but there will be other moisture wondering northward tonight and tomorrow. a lot certainly cooler by a solid 15-20 degrees than yesterday. that will old for our high temperatures as well. highs -- instead of the 70's, we are talking anywhere from the upper 50's to lower 60's. we will have fog in western areas of the state, the usual suspects. a lot cooler today. these numbers very close to where we should be for this time of year, as opposed to the

increasing clouds. maybe a shower out west or north in time for the evening commute. that activity comes from the south later tonight. later showers. some drizzles and fog. lows in the upper 40's to mid 50's. tomorrow, rain chance is a possibility through the afternoon, with maybe a brief downpour here or there. temperatures with a southerly wind and a little more humidity get back into the 60's. if we are going to see organized heavy downpours, it might b during the day on saturday. most maps have been hinting at that. a couple of maps keep the shower activity around through the day on saturday, along with wind out of the northwest which will start feeling -- feeding in cooler air. i the time we get there, upper 40's to lower 50's on sunday, with a good win. tomorrow, if we are going to see organized downpours with a possibility of over an inch of

erin: updating our top stories -- sean: three men accused of a violent attempted robbery in epping are expected to make a court appearance today. here's ray brewer. ray: police say it happened just after 1:00 yesterday afternoon. the men broke into a home on lamprey village drive. a police officer on patrol noticed the suspicious car and manhunt. the high school was forced into lockdown. eventually, the suspect was captured. the homeowner was not hurt. erin: the attorney general now says that a deadly officer-involved shooting in claremont last month was justified. a report, released yesterday, says that 25-year-old cody lafont was shot three times after he refused to drop a gun when an officer responded to 911 calls lafont made from his home.
