erin: good morning, new hampshire. thanks for waking up with us. i'm erin fehlau. we are seeing a little bit of rain but we still have drought concerns. how long will be heavy rain -- have the rain? hayley: on and off today and into saturday. we need a full on weather pattern changed in terms of the drought. like today and tomorrow do not cut it. we need over 16 inches of rain in spots and that is not coming with this storm system. along with the rain showers, we have fog, thick in some spots, zero mile visibility in portsmouth. be careful. it will be slick along with the wet leaves. in the 50's and we climb into the 60's today and may -- some

team -- grout management team meeting yesterday and it included experts in climate and agriculture, the drought intensifying in parts of new hampshire including southern new hampshire and now extending to the north. hundreds of wells have failed due to a lack of water and getting help can sometimes take weeks. many communities have already an active wat r as much as possible. things likely will not get better before winter. >> as we go into winter, if we don't get the rainfall and recharge that we need to recharge our aquifers, we're going to go into winter with a frozen ground and rainfall will occur in the form of snow and we could continue to have dry wells into the winter time. ray: environmental officials say this drought actually started

pink is a form of fentanyl that is synthetically created and mixed with an elephant tranquilizer. speaking at the windham police department yesterday, sununu said the drug hasn't been seen here yet, but he believes it is coming. >> when you have this new drug that is 10 times more potent than fentanyl and resistant to narcan, i don't want my family and again your families our families in the state to have that worry of knowing that maybe our kids might be afflictewi this. and maybe our kids won't be the ones waking up tomorrow. erin: sununu also said the state needs to be more aggressive fighting drug trafficking. police and over are investigating the death of a 38-year-old woman but officer suspect it was a drug overdose. if toxicology results of i proved it would be the 11th deadly overdose in dover this year. the state on pace for nearly 500 overdose deaths this year. tomorrow is national drug take

inflicted this abuse on them. erin: the couple later pleaded guilty to child sexual abuse and child pornography and were sentenced to 25 years to life. the department of health and human services said in a statement -- " the department takes very seriously the need to ensure for the safety and wellbeing of new hampshire's children. that is why we and the governor called for an independent review of dcyf." easter seals is also named in the lawsuit because it was in charge of supervising the visits. a spokesperson says they are "taking the matter very seriously and will cooperate with the authorities, and they are committed to supporting children, adults and families every single day." a woman in epping says she helped police track down one of the suspects in wednesday's armed robbery. officers swarmed the area to search for 3 men accused of breaking into a home pistol whipping and robbing a man a neighbor suzanne morris helped identify one of the suspects. she says it may have been

disturbing story. in just one month, new hampshire's drought has intensified in the south and expected of north. officials say the lack of water has caused hundreds of wells to fail. and now many people who call companies to deepen or replace their wells often have to wait for weeks. >> people are spending $10,000, $20,000, sometimes $30,000 to replace a well if they have the money. and if they don't they have to make due with off site sources of water. management team is asking communities to implement water bans. >> we're also asking that people conserve water inside. that they fix the leaks in their toilets, that they repair faucets that are leaking. greg: -- ray: another big concern is the effect the drought is having on farmers. the states commissioner of agriculture says farmers often have to irrigate crops around the clock. >> one reason why the drought has been so severe this year is it's really cumalative. we really had a drought last year, and it's just become worse. so we don't know what the

three heartwarming story out of illinois. -- now to a heart-warming story out of illinois. a special service was held yesterday by a boy who went to great lengths to honor his father. eleven-year-old brandon bakke was adopted at birth. he learned earlier this year that his biological father died and was buried without a headstone. so, brandon went on a mission to fix that. he spent the summer mowing lawns and saving his money so he could buy a headstone. >> i know if he'd be here right now he woulde i never got to meet him, i still honor him and still believe in him. erin: even though brandon showed up at the monument company with a jar full of money it decided to donate the stone to him instead and even allowed him to design it. ? erin: in sports, the boston bruins got to play in front of
