there. if conditions worsen again, they will be back out treating. all major roads or incident free from concord to salem and out to the seacoast. this traffic report is being brought to you by auto fair. from the wzid traffic network, i am deb davidson. erin: thank you so much. police say it appears a man shot and killed himself after a standoff with police in hampton that ended early this morning. sean: officers first went to mari-anne motel on ocean boulevard arnd of a burglary investigation out of seabrook. but when they arrived, they say someone fired multiple shots at them. police did not return fire, and no officers were hurt, but they quickly retreated and called in a swat team. hours later, a 38-year-old man was found dead inside. right now, it is not clear if the man who died is the man who fired at officers, or if he was the man that police were looking for in the first place. police in londonderry are

kidnapped his girlfriend. erin: -- erin: investigators say victor rosario forced the woman out of her office building and into his car. the woman is now safe, and rosario is free. wmur's ray brewer is live at the londonderry police department to explain the situation. ray: at this point, no charges have been filed, but police say 22-year-old victor rosario and the alleged victim were found last night in worcester, massachusetts. investigators say the situation afternoon, when they got a call from the ecco usa corporate office in londonderry, near the manchester boston regional airport, reporting a possible kidnapping. police say rosario dragged his girlfriend out of the building by the arm. a witness was able to provide a vehicle description, and police used cell phone pings to track the vehicle to massachusetts. >> massachusetts police stopped him.

vehicle and she was ok. the suspect was detained and questioned, and ultimately released. however, the investigation continues and he is facing several potential charges pending the outcome of the full investigation. ray: police say it does not appear that any weapons were involved. investigators say possible charges include kidnapping or assault. the couple does have a child together, but the child was not involved in the incident at all. reporting live in londonderry, ray brewer, wmur news 9. erin: thank you. a assault is dead after a crash in gilford. police say an officer tried to stop a car for reckless operation in a construction zone and then watched as the car went off the end of the route three bypass, through a gate and into an embankment. the driver later died at the hospital. news has learned that the driver 9 was 66-year-old steven price. his lawyer says he was on trial facing five counts of sexual assault, and didn't return to court yesterday afternoon for closing arguments. a vermont man is accused of

kevin: friday morning. rainfall and a good part of the north country, except above 2000-3008. -- 3000 feet. the rainfall is beneficial. we look ahead as this tapers off. the wind picking up and more changes for the weekend, coming up. erin: parts of the state got a little taste of winter overnight, and local ski areas couldn't be more excited. sean: it was cold enough for it. the top of loon mountain in lincoln is capped in snow, ou bare. some mountains are able to make snow already, but at loon, they need a couple days in a row of temperatures in the 20's before they fire up their snow guns. getting an early boost from mother nature helps. loon is hoping to open up before thanksgiving. erin: stay tuned on that. tiny houses are a growing trend, and there is a new effort to build them here in the granite state. the new hampshire lottery is partnering with four technical centers around the state and the state homebuilders association to build five tiny houses.

911 call at 3:45 thursday afternoon from the ecco usa corporate office on delta drive. the shoe manufacturer is located near the manchester boston regional airport. the caller reported that this man, 22-year-old victor rosario, came into the building and dragged out his girlfriend by the arm. >> based on reports, he forced desperate to us she was forcibly mo 911 caller went out to help, but the suspect took off. ray: police used social media to ask the public to help find the 1996 red honda civic. they say one tip led them to believe rosario was traveling out of state. cell phone pings were used to locate the car in worcester, massachusetts. >> mass state police became involved and were able to locate and stop vehicle. the victim was inside the vehicle, and she was ok. the suspect was detained and questioned, and ultimately

pending the outcome of the full investigation. ray: police say that rosario could face possible kidnapping and/or assault charges. the couple also has a child together, but the child was not involved in this incident. reporting live in londonderry, ray brewer, wmur news 9. erin: thank you. now some troubling news out of , kingston this morning. last month, people were allowed to get water from a spigot at the fire department, due to the drought causing wells to run dry. now itns contaminated. the department of environmental services says the fire department's well shows elevated levels of pfoa. it also showed the presence of other pfc's. town officials are now urging people who used the water to remain calm. >> there is no reason for panic. to the best of my knowledge -- and i spoke with the d.e.s.

water can now get it from the spigot at the town library. sean: a man who pleaded guilty to giving a 17-year-old girl a deadly dose of fentanyl is expected to learn his fate today. 42-year-old mark ross faces 20 years in prison for his role in the death of eve tarmey. she died last october after taking fentanyl at a motel in rochester. ross was the boyfriend of tarmey's mother, jasmyn rood. she pleaded guilty to giving false information to police and is set to be sentenced in december. also pleaded guilty to providing tarmey with the drug. she will be sentenced in january. erin: new on "daybreak" -- nashua police have arrested a suspected drug dealer. 27-year-old lindsey parziale-mcdonald of londonderry is charged with selling heroin. she was arrested on tuesday following an investigation into the distribution of heroin in nashua. an inmate at the state prison in berlin is accused of stabbing another inmate in the neck. derek saunders has been indicted on two counts of first degree

share insights with law enforcement, all with the help, of horse therapy. jaycee says horses helped her recover and helped her bond with her family after they were reunited. >> as a victim survivor, you can be ok after something tragic, you know? you don't have to live in that sullied world that was created for you. you can make your own and be ok. erin: with settlement money from the state of california, jaycee -- jaycee foundation, which provides services to families that have suffered trauma. a conference, focusing on the needs of children of incarcerated parents is being held in concord today. the counting the days conference gets underway at 8:30 at the grappone conference center. according to a recent study by the annie e. casey foundation, about 5% of new hampshire's children have at least one parent behind bars. erin: some police officers on the seacoast are sporting pink ties for a good cause.

kevin: a live look at what was a bit of wet snow. it has changed over to rainfall where most of us live. we will continue to see the rain shower activity in fits and spurts this morning reported gradually tapers off and the wind picks up through the afternoon. temperatures hovering around the 40's. we are back into the 50's for the weekend. for the third year in a row, the number of children in the foster care system has increased. erin: the report from the department of health and human services says a major factor in the increase is worsening substance abuse by parents. parental substance abuse was cited as a factor in 32% of the 2015 cases in which a child was removed from a home. that's up from 28% in 2012. sean: more than three years after the boston marathon bombings, survivors are now

line on that tragic day. maryland pre-school teacher erika brannock was seriously injured in the attack. last month, she was finally able to pick up her cell phone and clothing that the fbi was holding as evidence. >> i saw my jeans, and i saw how shredded and just torn apart they were, and oddly enough, my left shoe, they had kept. and being now that i'm an amputee on my left side, it was very emotional seeing my shoe. sean: to the bombing survivors in august. erin: a funeral home in pittsfield, massachusetts has come up with a new way to help grieving families. dwyer funeral home has added a therapy dog to its staff. the funeral home's owner says the dog, named greyce, finds mourners and stands by their side, offering them some comfort. >> when someone is crying, she

individual and go over, and maybe just put her head in their lap. >> it seems to instinctively nowhere to go. she seems to find the mourners and stand by their side. erin: greyce was trained and certified this summer. so far her services have been volunteered at four wakes. sean: a school district in pennsylvania will soon display the national motto "in god we trust" in all of its schools. the school board voted unanimously to support the idea after months of deliberations. administrators say the decision is t on students, but to make them more aware of historical events. the district also plans to display other historical documents, such as the constitution, the declaration of independence, and the bill of rights. a family in florida is celebrating christmas a bit early this year. that's because they won a lawsuit that the their city filed against them over their holiday display. the city claimed the christmas lights created a public nuisance due to the amount of traffic it drew to the area. but neighbors testified that

a judge ruled in favor of the family, saying the city did not provide enough evidence to prove the display was causing a problem. >> i am thrilled. i am absolutely thrilled. the good guys win. >> it been negated our family. she vindicated our ability to bring the christmas spirit to many of the residents here in south florida. sean: records show that the city spent nearly half a million dollars pursuing the case something the family calls a , waste of taxpayer money. erin: turning now to sports, the celtics tasted defeat for the first time this season last night. they took on the bulls in chicago. the bulls have a couple of familiar names in their backcourt now. former celtic rajon rondo fed dwayne wade for a jumper to start the scoring. the bulls led most of the way and went on to win the game 105-99. they celtics play at charlotte tomorrow night.

game were held last night. team fire and team police are trying to see who will make the rosters for the big game. this is the tenth year of the fundraiser for the children's hospital at dartmouth. so far it has raised $1.7 million. >> this is huge. i mean, the event is massive. the 10th annual is a big deal. every single player is stoked to be a part of it, really excited, and we are looking forward to it. this was my ninth year playing. you can, hopefully we can raise an obscene amount of money. sean: that is the goal. the 10th annual badges game will take place on sunday, march 19. erin: a young red sox fan in connecticut who is dealing with some serious medical issues got a big surprise, courtesy of the make-a-wish foundation. thomas hasting's backyard now looks just like fenway park. it has the green monster, lights, citgo sign, and even a press box.

librarians make sure all the books are properly shelved, but often they'll come in to find books scattered all over the floor. sean: we saw this in "ghostbusters." it can happen. it's not just any books that wind up on the floor. it's always the mystery books. some people say library workers have tried to outsmart whoever moves the books by putting them in a different section, but they always end up on the floor. erin: i am thinkingt sean: does not like the danielle steele novels. kevin: are we talking about the hardy boys on the floor? could we set up cameras and soft this, or is that just -- what would be the point of that when you could just talk about it? erin: it does look like kind of a freaky building, though. kevin: a lot this week has been freaky. sean: it is going to get even freakier tonight. trust me. kevin: i will stay away.
