we are almost there. so here are the numbers according to the latest abc news daily tracking poll. it shows the very slightest of advantages to hillary clinton. it appears that after the fbi director's announcement last friday, her numbers in these final days are on the rise. across the country surrogates for hillary clinton and donald trump are delivering closing arguments and adding some star power to the campaign trail. ? because i'm happy ? >> this election is just too important. i couldn't sit on the sidelines and just be pharrell appeared with clinton thursday night and today jay z joins clinton in cleveland, ohio. in the final crisscrossing of the nation, the two candidates laying out very different messages. >> you know, when i look at these great admirals and these great generals and these great medal of honor recipients behind me, to think of her being their

she had been off the campaign trail since the fbi announced they were sifting through her e-mails. they were found during a sexting investigation of her estranged husband anthony weiner. as the campaigns look to stir up enthusiasm, their top supporters continue to hit as many strategic states as possible. for more insight on the surrogates and the polls, here's abc news political director rick klein. rick. >> kendis and linzie, the national polls showing hillary clinton with a slight but significant edge over donald trump right now. but the flip side of that is the battleground states when you're seeing the math actually expand slightly in favor of donald trump. trump, as he makes his foray into blue state territory, actually has a few more paths than he did a few days ago to the magic number of 270 electoral votes. this is also a big period of time for the surrogates. people vouching for the campaign on the democratic side, crisscrossing the country including, of course, both obamas spending significant

but, of course, the big event, melania trump. no one has heard much from her throughout this campaign all the way back to the convention, the last time she gave a major speech, and she is talking about her husband, also about her vision for cyberbullying. the speech though that could have the biggest impact belongs to tim kaine, the vice presidential nominee on the democratic side, gave an address entirely in spanish. never before happened among the four major candidates, president and vice presidential candidates in any electcy remembered for a long time with big hopes for the democrats with latino turnout. linzie and kendis. >> our thanks to rick klein. as we mentioned donald trump and hillary clinton will be busy today. three stops today. >> clinton will be in pittsburgh and detroit. she'll then head to cleveland for a get out the vote concert with jay z while kaine holds an event in florida. >> and trump rallies in ohio, new hampshire and pennsylvania and mike pence in michigan, north carolina and florida. a reminder for tuesday night, we'll be here for full election coverage starting at 7:00.

all night and into the early morning hours. a person of interest has spoken with police in mississippi about the torching of a black church. arson destroyed hopewell missionary baptist church in greenville tuesday night. the words "vote trump" were spray painted on the building. authorities say a man spoke with them on wednesday and on thursday. detectives say he came in voluntarily. more than $200,000 has been raised to repair the church. in afghanistan dozens of civilians were killed during a joint u.s./afghan raid targeting the taliban. now officials are trying to figure out exactly what went wrong here. some of those civilian casualties may have been caused by air strikes backing up afghan and u.s. troops under fire. now, the targets of the raid, two senior taliban commanders, were killed along with 63 other insurgents. two u.s. soldiers were killed in separate incidents. the battle for the city of mosul is intensifying. iraqi troops have begun their assault into more urban areas to

city could take several months. earlier this week iraqi forces entered the city limits for the very first time in more than two years. there is a speed bump in great britain's brexit plans. britain's high court says the government needs a vote from parliament to begin exit negotiations under the european union. britain's government has asked for that ruling to be overturned. the british supreme court will hear the case next month. prime minister theresa may has vowed that brexit talks will about your investments, it's probably best to just ignore them at least for now. the dow starts the trading day down 29 points. the nasdaq is off 47 and the s&p 500 starting 9 points lower than the previous day. now, here's the big deal about all of this. thursday marked eight down days in a row for stocks, and if the s&p closes lower today, it'll be its first nine-session losing streak since 1980. forget about doing business

through traffic, and then we see victoria hogan. you can see her right there on surveillance video running to the suv. she comforted the elderly driver and then pulled her out. she's being called a hero this morning. that driver is expected to be okay. one of the biggest hotels on the las vegas strip is still shut after a major power outage. thousands of people have been forced out of the paris las vegas. investigators say a contractor accidentally cut the hotel's main power line thursday morning trapping a dozen people in elevators and forcing a room-to-room search to get everyone out. the situation left more than a few guests frustrated. >> i'm not going up to the 25th floor. that, i will not do. that's no way i'm going up in an elevator in that hotel. >> what's your backup plan at this point? >> go drinking and find a corner. >> go drink. the fire department says the

the 3,000-room resort is set to re-open this morning. a terrifying smash and grab captured on surveillance cameras in miami. the robbers used sledgehammers to flash display cases and remove jewelry. one of them fired his weapon at a display case. they were captured on camera running from the scene and getting away in a white minivan. it's not known at this point the amount of cash and jewelry that was taken. police are searching for those suspects. a new phone scam involves government agencies and gift cards. the caller claims to represent the irs, fbi or someone else and unless a fine is paid. the victim is then told to make a payment using gift cards often for the apple itunes store. government agencies never seek payment using gift cards. when we come back, season over. an ivy league school takes swift action against one of its teams canceling the season. but first the frightening story of a missing woman found alive in deplorable conditions.

checking our top stories, hillary clinton and donald trump are making a final push for votes. they're both campaigning in pennsylvania and ohio today. clinton's also going to michigan while trump heads to new hampshire. power has been partially restored to the paris las vegas hotel. a massive power outage shut down the hotel and casino and forced thousands from their hotel rooms. the outage was about a fourth of california is no longer in a drought thanks to a rainy october in the northern part of the state. much of southern california is still suffering. that said, watch out for huge waves this morning along the west coast. strong storms are possible in the southwest. but not much chance of rain in the rest of the country. and finally, a monumental occasion, our last "friday funnies" before election day.
