flag he thought was offensive. officers say sirois and another man, 21-year-old jason gerry, started physically fighting with one of the people at the home, when sirois allegedly shot the man, as well as a woman who was there. the man was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. at last check, he was in stable but critical condition. the woman was shot in the leg and has since been released from the hospital. sirois is being held on $100,000 cash bail, pending his arraignment later today. and gerry was charged with second-degree assault in connection with the fight. he's also due in court today. sean: we could learn new details today about a stabbing in campton. police say a man was stabbed friday night on carla court. he was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. police say the suspect was also injured, and was taken to the hospital. but at this time, there is no word on how he was hurt. authorities are not yet releasing the names of the victim or suspect. erin: ahead on "daybreak," a terrifying revelation in south carolina.

south carolina is now linked to at least seven murders. erin: the investigation began last week, after a missing woman was found chained inside a metal container on todd kohlepp's property. authorities say she was kept there for two months. the body of her boyfriend was one of three bodies also found at the site. police say kohlhepp confessed to gunning down four people at a motorcycle shop back in 2003. he's now charged with four counts of murder. the arrest came as a big surprise to the victims' families. in the world. and from what we are hearing, this is really a bad, bad thing. and i hope to god that he does get what is coming to him. but i hope he is sorry for what he has done through all these years. erin: the fbi and homeland security are now involved in the case. sean: an investigation is underway this morning into a freak accident at a pumpkin chunkin' contest in delaware. state police say a 39-year-old

launch pumpkins suddenly exploded. the competition involved dozens of contestants launching pumpkins from homemade contraptions, many of them air-powered with long cannons. a witness said one of the machines had just fired a pumpkin when a piece of the launcher about the size of a car door blew off. erin: the cdc says it has identified the first u.s. cases of a drug-resistant fungal infection. health officials say 13 people have become ill from candida or c-auris. the sometimes-fatal infection has a high likelihood of causing outbreaks in healthcare facilities. seven u.s. cases occurred between may of 2013 and august of this year in illinois, maryland, new york, and new jersey. four of the seven infected patients died, but it is not yet clear if their deaths were due to c-auris. the cdc director called the fungus an emerging threat, and reminded health care facilities to strictly follow cleaning procedures. sean: if you have a dehumidifier

the consumer product safety commission has issued another recall of millions of dehumidifiers that can overheat and start a fire. the recall affects more than 3 million midea humidifiersthat -- humidifier's that were sold under dozens of brand names. you can find a complete list of recalled dehumidifiers by heading to midea's website. erin: officials in littleton, colorado are giving an explanation for why the city decided to use toilet paper to help fill cracks in the roads. according to "the denver post, the toilet paper was used to help seal up cracks along more than 120 streets. officials say the bathroom tissue was applied over freshly-laid tar because it absorbs the oil from the tar as it dries, keeping it from sticking to tires and pedestrians' shoes.
