road. sean: the campaign season is almost over. at this time tomorrow, we will already have our first returns in new hampshire. three communities are set to vote at midnight. erin: the candidates are using every moment they can to try and win over voters, and the granite state is proving to be very important to the presidential hopefuls. wmur's ray brewer joins us now with a look at today's schedule. and it is a busy one. ray: it is. new sh battleground state, and both presidential campaigns are fighting hard to win the four electoral votes here. on the democratic side, president obama will be in new hampshire today, stumping for the woman he wants to take his job. he will speak at a "get out the vote" rally for hillary clinton this afternoon at the whittemore center at unh in durham. the event starts at 3:00, but doors open at 12:30, and crowds are expected to be large. and republican nominee donald trump will be in manchester

mate, mike pence. they will both speak at a rally at the southern new hampshire university arena. the event starts at 8:00. nearly 10,000 people are expected to attend. this is trump's tenth visit to new hampshire since the primary, his second in four days. with those events today, there will be added security in both manchester and durham, as well as portsmouth, when air force one flies in and out of pease. state police is working with the secret service, and say some roads may be closed. problematic for some drivers, but they are asking people to be patient. well, it certainly is a race to the finish for this campaign. new hampshire, right in the middle of all of it. in the studio, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: ray, thanks. hillary clinton was in manchester last night, just hours after the fbi announced that its probe into her emails is over, and that the former secretary of state will not face

the outcome of this race could affect the balance of power on capitol hill. both candidates are hitting the campaign trail hard, and they both attended an event yesterday honoring a navy seal from new hampshire before meeting with voters at separate events along the seacoast. gov. hassan: we want to build on the progress we've been able to make in new hampshire, and we want to make sure that people understand the clear choice in this election. sen. ayotte: we've been getting a great response out there, and you know it's just really great , to be out talking p support. erin: hassan will campaign in western new hampshire this morning before joining president obama for his rally at unh. and ayotte has about 20 stops planned all over the state today. sean: another key race is that for the open governor's seat. republican chris sununu joined senator kelly ayotte yesterday at throwback brewery in north hampton, while democrat and fellow executive councilor colin van ostern rallied student volunteers at unh before heading

"commitment 2016: the final hours" starts tonight at 7:00, right here on wmur. we are following breaking news now. janet reno, the first woman to serve as u.s. attorney general, has died. her goddaughter says reno died this morning due to complications of parkinson's disease. reno served for nearly eight president bill clinton, and was involved in several high-profile political controversies during that administration. janet reno was 78 years old. sean: in other news, now two people are dead after a crash in ossipee. police say two cars collided yesterday morning at the intersection of routes 28 and 171. both victims were in the same car, but their names have not been released. the cause of the crash remains under investigation. two people charged in connection

bust in portsmouth are due in court today. police say 31-year-old travis tulo led police on a brief chase on friday before pulling into a driveway, and then police found a small amount of meth in the car. tulo and a passenger, 21-year-old kyle haggett, were both arrested on drug charges. tulo also faces a fourth offense dwi and operating after suspension. erin: right now, a manhunt is underway in everett, massachusetts for the gunman police say killed a man yesterday afternoon. offi a it happened around 2:00, and officers were on scene for hours. a witness says she heard two gunshots and then saw the victim run into the street and fall down. the man died at the hospital. sean: still to come on news 9 "daybreak" -- this morning running to support , veterans. the important work provided by this race, and the goals for next year. erin: significant damage. an earthquake rattled oklahoma last night, and there are concerns about a major oil depot this morning.

within the last hour, the union and transit officials announced that they have reached a deal on a new contract, though no -- contract that includes wage increases and pension improvements. the deal still needs to be ratified. the city had filed a request for an injunction to force employees back to work for tomorrow in order to make sure voters could get to the polls. but it looks like they have reached a deal. but thousands of people across the country will have tomorrow off as a paid holiday. companies like general motors and ford will give their employees the daf and outdoor clothing company patagonia will shut down completely. erin: that is interesting. the moon is about to look bigger and brighter than it has in nearly 70 years. scientists say the next supermoon is next monday, and because of the timing, the moon will be especialy large and bright. this full moon is known as "the beaver moon," and experts say the best viewing will be sunday night. there will be another supermoon next month, but it won't be as

flag he thought was offensive. officers say sirois and another man, 21-year-old jason gerry, started physically fighting with one of the people at the home, when sirois allegedly shot the man, as well as a woman who was there. the man was taken to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds. at last check, he was in stable but critical condition. the woman was shot in the leg and has since been released from the hospital. sirois is being held on $100,000 cash bail, pending his arraignment later today. and gerry was charged with second-degree assault in connection with the fight. he's also due in court today. sean: we could learn new details today about a stabbing in campton. police say a man was stabbed friday night on carla court. he was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. police say the suspect was also injured, and was taken to the hospital. but at this time, there is no word on how he was hurt. authorities are not yet releasing the names of the victim or suspect. erin: ahead on "daybreak," a terrifying revelation in south carolina.

south carolina is now linked to at least seven murders. erin: the investigation began last week, after a missing woman was found chained inside a metal container on todd kohlepp's property. authorities say she was kept there for two months. the body of her boyfriend was one of three bodies also found at the site. police say kohlhepp confessed to gunning down four people at a motorcycle shop back in 2003. he's now charged with four counts of murder. the arrest came as a big surprise to the victims' families. in the world. and from what we are hearing, this is really a bad, bad thing. and i hope to god that he does get what is coming to him. but i hope he is sorry for what he has done through all these years. erin: the fbi and homeland security are now involved in the case. sean: an investigation is underway this morning into a freak accident at a pumpkin chunkin' contest in delaware. state police say a 39-year-old

launch pumpkins suddenly exploded. the competition involved dozens of contestants launching pumpkins from homemade contraptions, many of them air-powered with long cannons. a witness said one of the machines had just fired a pumpkin when a piece of the launcher about the size of a car door blew off. erin: the cdc says it has identified the first u.s. cases of a drug-resistant fungal infection. health officials say 13 people have become ill from candida or c-auris. the sometimes-fatal infection has a high likelihood of causing outbreaks in healthcare facilities. seven u.s. cases occurred between may of 2013 and august of this year in illinois, maryland, new york, and new jersey. four of the seven infected patients died, but it is not yet clear if their deaths were due to c-auris. the cdc director called the fungus an emerging threat, and reminded health care facilities to strictly follow cleaning procedures. sean: if you have a dehumidifier

the consumer product safety commission has issued another recall of millions of dehumidifiers that can overheat and start a fire. the recall affects more than 3 million midea humidifiersthat -- humidifier's that were sold under dozens of brand names. you can find a complete list of recalled dehumidifiers by heading to midea's website. erin: officials in littleton, colorado are giving an explanation for why the city decided to use toilet paper to help fill cracks in the roads. according to "the denver post, the toilet paper was used to help seal up cracks along more than 120 streets. officials say the bathroom tissue was applied over freshly-laid tar because it absorbs the oil from the tar as it dries, keeping it from sticking to tires and pedestrians' shoes. horford, who's under concussion protocol. in the first quarter emmanuel mudiay took over the game early, hitting the jumper to put denver up by 13. mudiay had 24 points in the first quarter alone. he finished the game with 30 total. isaiah thomas led the celtics with 30 points, but denver ended up winning it 123-107. look at this. a lakers fan made quite the shot during sunday's game. the 27-year-old sunk the ball from half court, and won $35,000. erin: got some fist bumps as well. dale earnhardt junior ran into a bit of trouble while heading to the race track on sunday. he was pulled over for speeding ahead of the aaa texas 500. his fiancee was in the car with him, and says he got a written warning. she did not say how fast he was going. earnhardt junior stopped racing after experiencing concussion-like symptoms in july, but he still makes appearances at the track, and plans to be back behind the

but, you know, maybe revving his engine for the time being. as for yesterday's sprint cup race, it was delayed for more than five hours because of rain. joey logano led the most laps, 178, and probably would have won -- but carl edwards was the leader on lap 294, when it started raining again. the race was called, and edwards won it, securing a spot in the final four. logano was second, followed by martin truex junior. sean: hundreds of people are resting up this morning after taking part in the manchester city marathon. about 1800 people participated in five different races, but the big race was the marathon itself, with 575 registered runners. the overall winner was dan vassallo of peabody, massachusetts, in a time of 2:23:59. brandon newbould of nottingham was the top new hampshire finisher.
