nearly 8,000 here inside the whittemore center on the durham campus of u.n.h. and even before the president arrived his crowd was fired up by the likes of ken burns, congresswoman giffords and every democrat at the top of the new hampshire ticket, well almost. but the true star was president obama and his upbeat message that we are stronger together. now, comparisons are drawn between hillary clinton and donald trump, between inclusion and divisiveness, and when president obama said he can hear your boos, but he can hear your vote. >> all that progress goes down the drain if we don't win tomorrow. and new hampshire, you know, it's a small state, but it's an important state. [cheers and applause] there are some scenarios where hillary doesn't win if she doesn't win new hampshire.

reporter: people waited several hours for this opportunity, and a lot were fairly wistful because in fact this will be the last time that barak obama visits natural as president of the united states. a true pep rally here up and down the ticket. jennifer crompton, wmur news 9. jennifer: right now in manchester the stage is being set inside the snhu arena downtown and that's where tonight donald trump and his running mate holding a rally of their own. adam sexton is live now with more on that. reporter: well, jen, love donald trump or if you don't love him, the man does know how to put on a show. take a look at the setup here, this is the same venue where mitt romney held his final campaign event of 2012. this is not donald trump's final campaign event of this season, he's got one more tonight set for grand rapids, michigan. but they're looking to go out

cherished by the trump campaign as his first political victory, his big victory here in the first in the nation primary is what got him on his way to the nomination. so they're expecting a big crowd tonight. mitt romney got 11,000 people into this arena, they're hoping to at least equal that, but they do have every seat open here, so it's possible they might not, we'll keep an eye on it. tom: last minute campaigning for new hampshs jennifer: both incumbent republican kelly ayotte and democratic challenger maggie hassan are crisscrossing the state. jean mackin is covering that race tonight. reporter: in this tight race these candidates are racing to reach as many voters as possible. just about an hour ago governor hassan introduced president obama at his u.n.h. event. she was introduced by senator shaheen who said she wants another democrat in the senate

hassan rallied the crowd to support democrats up and down the ticket. incumbent republican kelly ayotte is crossing the state on a campaign bus with her picture next to the words, new hampshire's invoice. her 24 stops in 24 hours campaigns now up to 27 stops. she started greeting commuter this is morning in nashua. we caught up with her in newport. here's what both candidates are saying tonight. >> what i want to tell them is that i'll be standing up and working hard for one the most bipartisan records for solving problems for the people of new hampshire. i'll stand up as the invoice for the people of new hampshire and fight for them. >> there is a clear choice in this election. do we keep going with a senator who repeatedly votes with the corporate special interests? >> no. >> or a new senator who sides with the people of new hampshire. simply no time to sleep, they will be campaigning tonight. jean mackin, wmur news 9. tom: turning now to the race for governor, both candidates spent their day meeting with voters. our live team coverage continues now with kristen carosa who is covering this race tonight. kristen? reporter: we are just hours away from election day and these two candidates are doing all they can to connect with as many people as possible, and win over the undecideds. we caut they spoke at the nashua rotary club meeting this afternoon. republican chris sununu is currently serving his third term as executive councilor, he's also the c.e.o. of waterville valley. his democratic opponent, executive councilor colin van ostern, has been serving as executive councilor since 2012. as you can imagine, both have been campaigning hard in these final hours. here's their final message to voters ahead of the election tomorrow in which they highlight

hours, so all of the candidates have been working hard on the campaign trail today, including right here in the second congressional district. representative annie kuster is running for re-election saying that she has and will continue to work aacross party lines. her challenger, republican jim lawrence, who served three terms as a state rep, says kuster hasn't involved the problems granite staters face. in the first district, incumbent republican frank guinta is facing a familiar foe in shea-porter. also making some noise in this race is the independent business executive, sean o'connor who is running for elected office for the first time. >> i was a social worker as well as a teacher, and so i have a strong feeling about making sure that everybody has their piece of the american dream. >> i'm very passionate about this job, i think people know the convince i bring to it. but the reality is i've been
