>> now at noon a woman attacked , while out on a walk the search for a suspect and the new developments in the case. >> a beauty of an afternoon out there as temps climb back up near 60. when the showers creep back into the forecast ahead. sean: crews are back on the scene of a large wildfire in the white mountains how the fire figh g and presidential transition. we're getting our first look at the team president elect trump is putting together >> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now, wmur news at noon. sean: happening now police are asking for the public's help to find the person repsonsible for an attack on a young woman in lebanon. good afternoon, i'm sean mcdonald. the woman says she was jumped while walking along a trail, near the dartmouth hitchcock medical center.

seriously injured. wmur's ray brewer is live outside the lebanon police department. ray, do police have any leads at this point? ray: police are telling us they do have some tips that that found in. they are asking anyone who was in the area to at that time to give them a call. >> certainly the randomness of the attack is certainly concerning to me as the police chief. ray: police say the 23-year-old sunday evening. the victim was walking along a trail that is across the street from the hospital. the chief says that aspect of the crime in also worrisome. >> the fact that this happened in an area that's well traveled. ray: the woman told police that she was jumped from behind and thrown to the ground and assaulted. she was able to fight off her attacker, who eventually ran off down the path. >> we feel very fortunate that she only sustained minor injuries. ray: she was also able to

she said he was between 18 and 25, wearing dark hooded sweatshirt approximately six feet tall, and drove off in a dark colored sedan. she added that he was a white man with medium build, and had shaggy, dirty blond hair. the chief says that have received a number of tips and people can expect to see more officers in the area. the chief adding that when you're in the woods is important to be aware of your surroundings. >> walking with a buddy or a partner, making sure that you have your cell phone on you is the best time to walk and enjoy the trail. ray: the chief says that they are checking with surrounding towns to see if there have been any other similar attacks, but so far this appears to be an isolated incident. reporting live in lebanon, ray brewer. sean: right now mammoth road is closed between keyes hill and castle hill roads in pelham as police investigating a serious crash.

tallant roads at about 10:00 a.m. no word on what caused the crash or if there were any injuries but as you can see the vehicles involved were badly damaged. life light was called in to assist. a lawsuit against phillips exeter academy is going to trial in federal court today. the mother of a former student alleges that the school wrongfully kicked her 15-year-old son out after he had sex with another 15-year-old student. the lawsuit claims the school initially said the boy would be placed on leave but then changed the punishment. placed on leave but then changed the punishment. school officials believe the girl felt pressured to have sex . the teen is not facing any criminal charges. a man accused of leaving his 2-year-old child in his car, while he tried to run away from police in salem is due in court today. officers say they stopped 36-year-old anthony miele on friday for traffic violations . but then learned there was a warrant for his arrest in epping . they say that's when he ran. police finally used a taser to subdue and arrest him.

road. a neighbor called for help because he thought the fire was burning a house. instead, a fire the land owner had legally started earlier re ignited. no one was injured, and no structures were damaged. a developing story now dozens of firefighters and a specialty team are back in the white mountain national forest to battle a large wildfire. the covered bridge fire was first spotted saturday afternoon in albany and has now burned more than 100 acres along the swift river. flames could be seen from miles away and crews are battling steep terrain forcing them to call off efforts overnight this is just one of several brush fires that burned over the weekend. >> what is unusual is that the fires will still burn deeper because we haven't had any substantial rain, so the ground is still pretty dry. sean: it's unclear how the fire in the white mountains started . but officials say it will likely take several days to get it fully contained. and for now the covered bridge

that fire. officials in weare are investigating a pair of fires that broke out within 24 hours of each other. the most recent fire started shortly after 11:00 p.m. last night at a house on east road. when crews arrived they saw heavy flames coming from the building. officials say the home was vacant at the time and no one was hurt. the house was a total loss. several hours earlier crews were called to a fire at a home on mount dearborn road. the flames broke out around one -- was asleep at the time. fortunately the homeowner was able to escape unharmed but the house was destroyed. meanwhile authorities say a house fire in littleton sunday morning was likely caused by a meth lab. it happened on manns hill road just after 1:30. once first responders realized what was inside, they secured the area and a hazmat crew removed the lab, police say. two people were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. no word if anyone was arrested

about a kayaker who drowned on bow lake in strafford friday. state police say 62-year-old victoria rosenberg began having a hard time navigating the choppy waters. when rescue crews arrived they found a debris field on the lake which led them to rosenberg's body. she was wearing a life jacket and drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors. a group of hikers from massachusetts were rescued from fish and game officers say a woman slipped and fell on an icy trail and injured her arm. the injury slowed the group as they were coming down the mountain. and as darkness started to set in, they decided to call for help. officials say the group admitted they were not prepared and will likely be billed for the cost of the rescue. right now police in keene are looking for a suspect who robbed a convenience store at keene state college saturday. take a look at your screen . police say the person assaulted the clerk and took an

accessory to murder and armed robbery in connection with the death of 35-year-old daniel smith. two boys found smith shot in the woods in easton, massachusetts last week. he died at the hospital on friday. right now noguera is being held in south carolina as a fugitive from justice pending extradition to massachusetts. strong aftershocks continue to rattle new zealand after a powerful magnitude 7.8 quake struck the south island sunday. two people are dead and there is significant damage in some areas . despite the devastation it's not as severe as a different earthquake in the area 5 years ago. officials say it will likely cost billions of dollars and take months to clear debris and make repairs with one town completely cut off right now. if you step outside it doesn't feel like fall. kevin: not at all. temperatures about 10 degrees above average. with it, sunshine that will all change later on.

>> now, your storm watch nine forecast. kevin: seasonably chilly as we start the day a lot of areas down into the 20's hardly a cloud in the sky. it is nothing but blue skies as w temperatures in the 50's to the lower range of the 60's. you don't get a lot of these this time of the year. it is normally the cloudiest month of the year. with a breeze out of the southwest kicking up here tonight and 50 miles per hour. just transporting in milder air for the time being. what is a gorgeous day across the region if you have a chance to get outside for an hour or two definitely soak in that sunshine. the pattern doesn't completely

pressure to continue to drift northward. this arrives with an increase in clouds likely after the super moon rise this evening and eventually the chances of rain coming with it near midday for southern areas of the state starting tomorrow. temperatures right now 50's to the lower range of the 60's for the we see temperatures edge up may degree or two in southern areas. all in all, this is where we level off for the afternoon with it breeze out of the southwest. miles per hour. you will notice back towards our west marginally mild air here, but also cooler air not far away up in southern parts of canada. not overly warm down to our south, the system coming in from the south don't have it -- won't have a lot of cold air with it. that will likely start to do that. there are skies into the afternoon, the super moon rising late this afternoon should be clear. after midnight the high clouds

we look the onset of rainfall for southern areas of the state to develop on either side of midday. farther north may take the balance of the afternoon to start to see some showers. looks like the height of this will be early tomorrow evening we could've a couple of downpours to the evening commute and beyond. that could be some spots over a quarter of an inch of rain. the best chance of that will be in eastern sections of the state as we start off wednesday still in lingering shower plenty of clouds and access to moisture. the breeze picks up and dries out the atmosphere gradually through the day. that sets up a good deal of sunshine for both thursday and friday, both of those days as it stands now temperatures getting back into the low to mid 50's. again, not a tremendous punch of cool air behind this rain chance tomorrow. maybe some much-needed rain for a few spots. a third to maybe a half inch of rainfall in most spots but on the eastern parts of the state a lot of maps hinting at some extra downpours late in the day tomorrow.

we do source from a local farm but this is something that i would make at home and maybe my grandchildren. sean: you can get the kids involved. kath: raised by thomas jefferson. sean: of course, i saw it a mile away. kath: simple ingredients, we take two tablespoons of good -- actually this happens to be grass fed butter. two tablespoons of some nice new hampshire maple syrup for our sweetener. sean: kath: we are staying away from the processed foods. just take the butter and the maple syrup and you do what is called creaming them together. you blend them until they are nice and smooth. this is a great recipe to do with children because they can handle all of these utensils. have a cup of granola, and i will just do half of this a quarter cup of dried cranberries. if you happen to not have them

even, you can omit the filling in beautiful, baked apples. i like to do these when kind of at the end of when i'm finished cooking my dinner i put this together. when dinner comes out i put the apples in the oven and half an hour later you have a desert. peel about an inch around the apple. i invested in this nice little apple corps. sean: you killed that apple there. [laughter] you can use your hands if you are at home and eating it yourself. and, nice earthenware dish. sean: you took some of the top of the apple off there, the skin. kath: you do, the old-school baked apples you peel the whole thing. i like the fiber, actually. apples are a super food rich in vitamin a, become a seek him and
