one week from today, can you believe that? turkey day. it does not exactly feel like late fall. kevin: no, we have three more days of the milder temperatures. there is a certain front that will be approaching with scattered showers. the next weather pattern looks much colder for the next week. some clouds temperature starting off in the 40's in most locations. again, we kind of keep this pattern going the next few days. let's take a look at your morning ride in the granite state. good thursday morning, deb. deb: good thursday morning. all major highways are moving

. the buddy bench the girl scouts bought was defaced within a matter of days. ray: that's right. the bench was installed here at the auburn village school earlier this month, but last weekend, the vandals struck. the girl scouts of been working on the project for more than a year and gave the bench to the school to encourage kids to be nice and make new friends. days after it was installed, they foundde swastikas and the bench had to be removed. they are already working to raise money to put in a new bench made out of granite. >> it was devastating. i felt awful. my heart was broken. i took it personally. because people would do this to girls, the sweet girls that did

it fixed and get the vandalizing to stop. ray: when the new bench is installed, there are plans to put a security camera in place. the girl scouts have set up a gofundme page to raise money needed. so far, more than $1000 has already been donated. reporting live in auburn, ray brewer. sean: thanks. several homeowners in litchfield are getting special filters in ensure their water is safe to drink. this is a temporary move until new water lines are installed connecting the homes to public water, but with winter around the corner, construction will have to stop. pfoa's contaminated groundwater. >> we have several of our family members who have had brushes with thyroid cancer, so we are

kevin: we start off with temperatures in the upper 30's to mid 40's across the area. eventually, we give way to a good portion of sunshine into the afternoon. temperatures in the 50's the

rescued from a farm in massachusetts are now up for adoption and some of them are here in new hampshire. sean: more than 1000 animals were found living in horrible conditions over the summer and have been rehabbing at shelters ever since, including rabbits, sheep, goats, ducks, and dogs. erin: a company in fort smith needs your help to fill an airplane with food. last year, they collected more than 7000 pounds of food. you can drop off donations between now and december 9. the food will be flown to manchester on december 14. thanksgiving is a week away, but christmas is arriving in concord. the state christmas tree arrived yesterday at the statehouse.

erin: dozens of people are searching a massive landfill in western new york hoping to find a sacred jewish artifacts. security video shows the item accidentally falling into a trashcan at a synagogue. waste management was able to track the trash and pinpoint which of the 28 landfills it ended up in. teams have already searched through tons of trash. the files that could contain the item have been set aside until the se i militants have destroyed some of the country's richest and most important archaeological treasures. soldiers recently recaptured a town near mosul and discover that nearly every artifacts had been destroyed, including buildings 3000 years old that had been bulldozed. sean: the holiday shopping season is underway and experts are anticipating a very busy

partial sunshine. temperatures today for most will be in the 50's. we will look for a breeze out of the northwest to be noticeable. full sunshine, 50's to lower 60's tomorrow and saturday, which look like gorgeous days across the area, especially considering the time of year we are in. that is the leading edge of cooler air. a shift in the weather that may be around three good portion of next week. the thickest of the cloud cover in western and northern areas of the state. some clouds around in south and eastern spots. next system, a slow mover back to the west does not arrive until sunday morning. temperatures anywhere from the lower 30's to 40's elsewhere.

on sunday morning. into the afternoon on sunday, the cooler air starts to rush in and can't rule out northern and western areas seeing snowflakes. this is the beginning of a cold or pattern. jet stream setting up for a nice large dip going up and down the east coast with colder air and highs only in the 40's for a good balance of next week. today, temperatures starting into the 40's and we will jump into the 50's this afternoon. everything starts to change everything starts to change sunday with scattered show conversational snowflake activity later sunday into monday. a lot of sunshine around through midweek next week. our next system will try to arrive by thanksgiving. erin: really a change when you look at the temperatures next week. kevin: we are above normal and then we will trend below as quickly as sunday. sean: conversational snow. it just sparks conversations. erin: we will all be talking

auburn is not letting an act of vandalism get them down. the troop donated a bunny bench -- buddy bench for the kids to make friends. over the weekend, that bench was vandalized and had to be removed. the girl scouts say they are working to replace the bench with a new bench made out of granite. erin: school buses are still running as normal across new hampshire. a potential strike by first student at least next tuesday while negotiations continue. a juvenile accused of shooting two people in nashua yesterday morning is due in court today. both victims were treated for their injuries and released. police have not commented on a possible motive. sean: coming up, special delivery. domino's is taking to the skies to

erin: getting food deliveries by drone is now a reality thanks to dominoes in new zealand. sean: dominoes in new zealand is very good. the company show this video of two pizzas being delivered. it is the first commercial delivery of food by drone in the world. a couple of minutes number reduced delivery time a couple of minutes. it delivered a chicken and cranberry pizza. it sounds awesome. erin: i guess they put different things on their pizza. can you make a delivery from new zealand? can it come over the oceans? >> no one covers new hampshire like we do. now, wmur news 9 daybreak. sean: welcome back. good morning, everyone. thursday, november 17. 47 degrees out there. we had hang around. erin: we have nice days ahead and snow in the forecast. everyone will be happy. we want to take a look at your top stories. a potential strike by first student bus drivers have -- has been delayed as the company and union continue to work out a new deal. a heartbreaking situation for a local girl scout troop.

school has been vandalized. a fire in the white mountain national forest has been contained. sean: thanks in part to the rainfall. mild temperatures out there. ray: we have it for the next several days and then the pattern shifts on sunday. for the time being, extra clouds west and north. partly to mostly cloudy skies. we should dry out on a northwesterly breeze. the southwestern to the mid-50's. clouds trying to give way to sunshine as the day wears on. tomorrow and saturday look gorgeous. we will talk about that later on. sean: we are talking about it now. kevin: that's true. 93 north and south is moving well through the granite state. later on this morning, 293, the exit 4 ramps will be closed one more time for the final construction phase. if you are heading into massachusetts, all major highways getting into the cities are up to speed. from the wzid traffic network, i'm deb davidson for 95.7 wzid. erin: first student buses will be operating on their normal schedules today despite a contract dispute that could lead to a strike. sean: union drivers authorized a strike earlier this week. they had anticipated a strike, forcing districts to cancel classes, but we are told buses will run as normal at least through tuesday as both sides try to work out a deal.

really a community issue. parents have a great deal of reliance on schools to provide transportation with those school buses running in the morning and the afternoon. families that have both parents that work or families that have one parent in a household, this really does pose a lot of issues. sean: first student says drivers outside of belmont are working under a current contract and are prohibited from striking. that at belmont goes on strike, they may not operate buses. that could affect as many as 33 districts across the state. erin: now, to a disheartening story out of auburn. a bench meant to spread kindness at the auburn village school has been vandalized. sean: a girl scout troop bought the buddy bench so kids could sit and meet new friends. days after it was installed, it was covered with bulger drawings

and swastikas. there is an effort underway to fix that bench, right? ray: that's right. the bench was the product of a year-long project by the girl scout troop. the girls are already thinking of ways to try to fix it. the buddy bench was supposed to be a place where kids could come together in kindness. >> it is for kids who feel left out and they don't have anyone to play with. ray: days after a group of sixtad vandalized it. >> it had only been there for a little bit. it was really sad for us. >> it was put there for good and not so people could vandalize it. >> it was devastating. i felt awful, my heart was broken, i took it personally. you know? who would do this to girls? these sweet girls that did something so selfish -- selfless. ray: plans are underway to put a

watch over it. >> a feeling we all just came together and made a plan to get it fixed and get the vandalizing to stop. ray: a gofundme page has been set up to raise money for a new bench and so for nearly $1300 has been donated. they hope to have the new bench installed as soon as possible. reporting live, ray brewer. erin: pedestrians hit by an alleged drunk driver in nashua are speaking out. ashley and her boyfriend were struck while walking near railroad square in nashua early tuesday morning. ashley suffered a hand fracture and a tornado ciel. her boyfriend -- torn acl. her boyfriend had to be airlifted to the hospital where he is still in critical condition. >> it is very scary as a parent.

boyfriend. she could have been right beside him. she was two steps away from getting hit head-on with the truck. we saw him being lifted out. he was unconscious, very comatose. scary. >> i'm happy she's alive and i'm optimistic that he will be ok eventually. they love each other and there was no need of this happening. erin: aggravated dwi. he is due in court next week. sean: two men are facing charges after police say they got into a fight over marijuana. 22-year-old justin choice and 20-year-old garrett clay were arrested at the mall of new hampshire on monday. choice sold pot to clay the day before and never received payment, allegedly.

a handgun and said he never threatened choice. an investigation into drug sales in the upper valley led to the arrest of 11 suspected dealers. all of the suspects are accused of selling heroin. erin: a nashua woman accused of robbing someone at knife point. 59-year-old kathleen caron robs the victim on tuda sentenced to five years behind bars for robbing a bank. 44-year-old andrew michael dufresne held up the people's united bank in 2014. he handed the teller a note before reaching in the door and grabbing bundles of cash. he was arrested a couple days later in methuen, massachusetts after crashing a stolen car. sean: a fire that destroyed

sea change in the forecast. we will have those details coming up. sean: this is what is going on to our south. firefighters are battling major blazes in six states across the southeast. georgia, alabama, kentucky, tennessee, north, and south carolina are all affected by this. the air is becoming thick with smoke. >> wildf upwards of 30 large fires scoring -- scorching 80,000 acres in six states. the blanket of smoke so widespread and is visible from space. the health impact of poor air quality has been particularly severe in tennessee, where it has landed more than 200 people in the hospital with breathing difficulties. firefighters are taking the abnormally dry conditions into consideration.
