and at least two people have died in the last week and a half. police think the heroin that is circulating is likely mixed with synthetic drugs, including fentanyl. a portsmouth woman is accused of selling methadone to a rollinsford teacher who died from the drugs. bryant lausberg was found unresponsive in his dover home back in may, and later died at the hospital. police now say that 38-year-old amy matton sold methadone to lausberg several times. lausberg several times. she is being held without bail, the red cross is helping a dozen people, including 10 children, after a fire in concord just days before thanksgiving. firefighters were called to thompson street around 2:00 yesterday afternoon after a tenant came home and found fire inside. crews were able to contain the fire to the kitchen of one apartment. no one was hurt, but it will be a few days before they can return. right now, police in hudson are looking for the man they say robbed the rite aid in town at

mask entered the store on lowell road around 7:45, and got away with some cash from the register. police in derry need your help identifying this man. they say he broke into the gilbert hood middle school early yesterday morning. officers found a broken window after alarms started going off around 3:00. they did search the building for about an hour, but didn't find anyone. however, this man was seen on surveillance video walking around inside. anything, he may have taken. a school bus driver in tennessee is now charged with vehicular homicide after crashing his bus in chattanooga yesterday, leaving at least five elementary students dead. 35 students were on board when the bus overturned and slammed into a tree. federal investigators will arrive today. abc's stephanie ramos is following the tragedy. stephanie: it's every parent's worst nightmare. chief fletcher: hamilton county schools has confirmed there were

woodmore elementary and are in grades k through fifth grade. stephanie: just a mile away from the chattanooga elementary school, a school bus, packed with kids, ran off the road, crashed into trees, ending up on its side in a tangled mess. bloodied students lay on stretchers, while other kids didn't survive the accident. chief fletcher: multiple children lost their lives. stephanie: officials say at least five kids were killed. right now, investigators believe the bus was most likely traveling too fast. the 24-year-old bus driver was arrested and is now facing charges. chief fletcher: johnthony walker is being charged with five counts of vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment, and reckless driving. stephanie: it took rescue crews hours to get all the kids off the bus. 23 of them were sent to local hospitals. kirk: we're just asking for prayers. and our hearts go out to the families.

clouds. even up north, occasional light snow will mean an inch of accumulation in the hilltops. snow showers tonight and flurries tomorrow morning in the north country. for the rest of us, a blend of sunshine and clouds. out west, a thicker cloud cover at times, temperatures in the 30's, and a brisk wind. it is going to be chilly through the afternoon. light snow up north early this morning. not just higher terrain, but parts of the north country which have been totalmo lower 30's. with the wind, sustained 10-15 mph and gusts over 20 mph, it feels much colder. even with highs in the lower 40's, a chill to the air. they're not expecting the temperature regime to move much from these readings for highs each afternoon, going all the way through the holiday weekend. we went through a 19 day stretch of temperatures at or above normal.

for the month. but we are below normal for the time being, to round of the month. light snow down to flurries and later snow showers overnight. a good deal of sunshine. if you are traveling anywhere across the northeast, you should be fine for the day tomorrow. as we get later into thursday, there will be the chance of a little bit of light snow or flurry activity. we cannot rule out freezing drizzle if it occurs early enough in the day, with an onshore wind. tremendously organized. it is the second system that comes behind that that we will watch more closely, later friday night and into saturday. as i mentioned, temperatures do not move much. we modify a bit toward the end of the week and into the weekend. next system after thanksgiving will have a light chance of precipitation late friday night and saturday. i think over the entire holiday weekend, that is our best chance

sean: a something extra to be thankful for this thanksgiving. ray and mavis just celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary. they are both in their mid 90's now. they celebrated by having a party at the restaurant where they first met way back in 1943, when ray was stationed there during world war ii. kevin: as far as the key to a long marriage, he says finding the right girl would be the key, while she says it is all about patience. sean: [laughter] sean: i thought the other key was, she is always right.

severely burned. the fire broke out last night at a multi-family building on pine street. when firefighters arrived, they say they found an injured woman inside the building. >> made it to the third floor, and they found one victim with -- on the third floor landing that we had to evacuate from the building. the victim has been transported to elliot hospital with severe burns. sean: at this time, there is no word on the woman's condition. the chief says crews were able the chief says crews were able to put the fire out quickly. were displaced. a one-year-old child is recovering this morning after being burned by scalding coffee. the incident happened last night at a home on cedar street. firefighters say hot coffee was spilled on the child. the toddler was taken to the hospital with burns on 18% of the child's body. an arrest warrant has been issued for a salem mom whose apparent drug overdose was caught on camera at a dollar store in lawrence, massachusetts.

watch. it shows mandy mcgowen's young daughter frantically trying to wake her in a store aisle. mcgowen did not show up for a court hearing on child endangerment charges last week. her daughter is now in state custody. a portsmouth pet store is asking for your help in tracking down a stolen puppy. the little shop of pets says this two-pound, three-month-old chihuahua was stolen this week. the owner believes the 900-dollar puppy was taken out of an open pen sometime sunday night or monday morning. right now, the biggest concern is that the little chihuahua is not getting the specialized food it needs. >> we don't know what it's on. and what is happening. and into sick puppy. -- it could easily crash and turn into sick puppy. we just want to get the puppy back. we're not going to prosecute. just please return the puppy before something happens. sean: the pet shop owner says she is concerned that the thief will try to sell the puppy online to an unsuspecting buyer. the dog is micro-chipped, so any

as the threat of a school bus driver strike continues to loom, a federal court now says it will not step in to help -- at least not yet. the timberlane and hampstead school districts asked a judge to grant an injunction to stop a possible strike by first student drivers. following a hearing with a judge on friday night, the school districts agreed to wait until another round of negotiations, scheduled for today. drivers in belmont authorized a strike. if it happens, other drivers in the state say they a off the job. the gates have been lifted in neighborhoods near the manchester walmart. this comes after months of heated debate, and complaints from residents. last week, manchester aldermen were unanimous in their decision to lift all of the gates and restore two-way traffic to president road and mack avenue. a new traffic pattern study is expected to be completed by the spring. new hampshire's 2016 election is

the japan meteorological agency described this quake as an aftershock of the massive 2011 quake. it warned that another large earthquake could hit in the next few days. a massive pileup on a highway in china left 17 people dead and 37 others injured. 56 vehicles were involved in the crash, which happened during snow and rain. hospital officials say all of the people who were injured are expected to survive. kidnapping her newborn baby. the suspect, yesenia sesmas, said in a jailhouse interview that the victim agreed to give her the child, but backed out of the deal at the last moment. she claims the murder was an accident. she says she threatened the mother with a gun when it accidentally discharged. police say sesmas faked being pregnant for several months before the murder. the baby, whose name is sophia, was found safe.
