alone walking up the ramp to root 4 from route 155 in lee a very busy area. while other witnesses stayed with the child he went and checked with the nearby daycare and confirmed that the toddler had somehow wandered off. the child was not hurt but the state bureau of childcare licensing and police are now investigating. and the live and learn learning center nearby was only able to accept 9 of the families. >> we have a waitlist of people waiting to get spots and to have to tell a parent, i can't take your child and they look at me and say, what am supposed to do? ray: state records show no major violations for his angels learning academy though state investigators did find a choking hazard over the summer that has since been fixed. it is not known if the daycare plans to reopen or if the state will take any action because of this incident.

two-year-old girl in berlin has been ruled a homicide but this morning no arrests have been announced. an autopsy yesterday showed that madison dana died from blunt impact injuries on sunday just hours after she was rushed to the hospital. police continued gathering information at the home on york street yesterday. the ag's office says it's possible the little girl suffered. >> more than just a fall. it is more than just a glancing hit. you're talking about how do i put this -- a measure of force that is so strong that you're causing not only external but internal injuries with it. sean: a neighbor says the child's mother claimed she fell out of a bunk-bed and hit her head on the floor. but investigators say that madison's death was caused by another person. a mother from salem who overdosed inside a store in massachusetts with her young

bail this morning. mandy mcgowan faced a judge yesterday after turning herself in. she is charged with child endangerment. video of her overdose last month went viral, her 2-year-old daughter in seen in the video crying and trying to wake her mother up. her attorney says mcgowan is now in a drug treatment program. >> she is now in a program and is 67 days in. she cannot pose that is unreasonable in these circumstances. sean: mcgowan is due back in court in january and she must submit to random drug testing. her child is in state care. right now police in manchester are looking for the man they say stole a purse from a woman's walker. officers say the woman was getting something out of her purse around 5:00 last night near the intersection of granite and main streets when a man pulled the purse away and ran off down clinton street. classes will resume at ohio state university today a day

for an hour or so and we will keep an eye on that for the morning commute and look ahead to a stec and system which could bring heavy rain tomorrow. sean: local second graders are stepping up to help three families who lost almost everything in a fire. students at gossler park elementary school in manchester decided to help, after hearing about a fire back in august, that displaced about twenty people on spruce street. most who lived there are refugees from bhutan. students donated their popcorn >> it's really heartwarming that at such a young age, they know they can still make a difference and they're being so kind. >> the generous kids from gossler park initiated this kind of event and programs. >> we see this as a community where we grow together, and when somebody has a problem, we extend our helping hand. sean: staff and parents also chipped in, and combined, they

a great effort. in windham, a child is getting a little more mobility, thanks to support from the community. nine-year-old brayden christmas can't talk and he is confined to a wheelchair because of l-1 syndrome. his parents have been lifting him into their mini-van, but as he gets older that was getting harder and harder. so friends and complete strangers raised enough money to buy them a wheelchair accessible van. >> i know people are giving, we were just overwhelmed with the amount of giving that people gave in the community that didn't even know us. they don't see the everyday struggle that we had and it was huge, huge that they would help us and he just loved it. sean: the christmas family already has the new van debt free and they say brayden loves it. and they want to thank everyone who helped out, calling it an answer to prayer. coming up, coworkers rallying support.

1990. you can help make sure kids across the state get gifts this holiday season by supporting our "spirit of giving" toy drive. you can donate new, unwrapped toys this friday through sunday at toys r us locations in manchester and nashua and at the crossings in newington. the need is particularly great for donations for children under three-years-old and older than ten. another team of firefighters from new hampshire is headed to georgia to help battle wildfires. a first crew first went to northwest georgia back on november 13, they are coming home today. a second team was activated yesterday and will spend at least the next two weeks down south. dozens of wildfires are burning across the southeast, including one in tennessee that has now destroyed about 30 buildings and is at the edge of the dollywood theme park. there is also concern about an aquarium, where workers had to evacuate, leaving thousands of animals on their own. there is some good news this morning, as rain and wet weather is moving in providing some

least a foot below normal rainfall for the year. people along the seacoast now have a new choice for macaroni and cheese. "mr. macs" is opening its new location on lafayette road today, marking their second location in new hampshire. the first 50 guests get a free small macaroni and cheese and there will be other door prizes and giveaways. there are new efforts underway this morning to design personal flotation devices for lobstermen. researchers with the northeast center for occupational health and safety will pay fishermen this winter to wear different types of vests, to determine which ones offer the best comfort while not getting in the way or tangled in net lines. currently only 16% of lobstermen say they wear a life vest. hopefully that percentage will go up after a study like this.

these high temperatures don't occur until 7:00 this evening. 30's in the north country and 40's in the evening commute and a south wind will win out and change the precipitation over to rain in the southern part of the state by lunchtime and up north by later the afternoon. we do have the next system lined up a heavier windfall moving through late tomorrow afternoon and night. otherwise, this is over to rainfall with a southeast wind which will happen today. a break tonight and the next system arrives tomorrow afternoon. some of the rain could be heavy into wednesday evening before wrapping up on thursday. quiet weather into the weekend with temperatures close to the average for this time of year. sean: it is definitely cold enough out there. let's check our top stories. here's ray brewer.

heading up the ramp to route 4. the speed limit in this area is 40 miles per hour. several witnesses stopped and stayed with the child, while a man checked the nearby daycare , "his angels learning academy," and confirmed that the child somehow got out. johanna booth-miner owns "live and learn early learning center" about a mile away. she says parents from "his angels" started calling her last week when they found out their center was shutting down. afta thirty families that reached out to her, she had to turn some away. collects we have a wait list of people waiting to get spots. and to have to tell a parent, i can't take your child, and they look at me and say -- what am supposed to do? ray: the new hampshire bureau of childcare licensing confirms the center shut down voluntarily. "live and learn" opened its doors on friday to allow the new children to get comfortable.

these children fit in like they've always been here. ray: no one answered the door at "his angels" and our requests for comment were not returned. booth-miner says she hopes people realize this is not something that happens every day. >> this was a terrible mistake and oversight, but it is not to be sensationalized. ray: childcare licensing is investigating to determine whether or not the state will take any action. licensing records dating back to 2012 show no major violations at "his angels learning academy." but in june, the state found a choking hazard with a mat that has since been removed. in the studio, ray brewer, wmur news 9. sean: we are learning new details about the death of a two-year-old girl in berlin. the medical examiner's office has ruled the toddler's death a homicide. an autopsy shows that the little girl, identified as madison dana, died from blunt impact injuries. emergency crews were called to

sunday afternoon. she was rushed to the hospital, where she died. now the attorney general's office is trying to determine how she suffered those fatal injuries. one neighbor says madison's mother told her that the toddler fell. >> i seen my friend ashley out here crying. she turned around and said that her daughter was on the way to the hospital. she fell off a bunk bed and hit her o was more than a fall. so far, no arrests have been made. we're also learning new details about a case in which two people were charged after police say children were found living in filthy conditions in a manchester home. court paperwork for samantha grenier says her son was restrained to a bed for six hours or more during the day, as well as overnight, usually while unsupervised. the maternal grandfather of the

what is alleged to have happened. his son-in-law, 26-year-old james grenier, faces child endangerment and reckless conduct charges. after police say they found his two-year-old girl and four-year-old boy in extremely unsanitary and unsafe conditions. police say the boy was found covered in feces and urine. and the girl naked in her crib, also covered in feces. samantha grenier was arrested and arraigned last friday charged with endangering the welfare of a child and criminal restraint. sean: samantha grenier is >> i'm very sick over it. i can't even go through with what my grandkids went through. sean: samantha grenier is scheduled to be back in court next monday. new on daybreak. two people are facing charges in connection with the thefts of a pair of u-haul trucks.

northwest boulevard during two separate incidents back in september. following an investigation police arrested 35-year-old michael nadworny for allegedly stealing both trucks. they say 26-year-old chelsea osterman helped him out. she is expected to make a court appearance later today. eight people are homeless this morning after fire destroyed their house in charlestown. >> the upstairs porch was on fire, and then in a few minutes, the whole place was burning. >> the place was engulfed, i knew it was going to be a total loss when all was said and done. sean: the fire broke out early yesterday morning at a house on ox brook road. an eighteen-year-old and her 14 and 11-year-old sisters were trapped on the second floor and had to jump to safety. they were treated for smoke inhalation and one of them may have broken her arm. a 37-year-old woman was also rescued from the burning house. the cause of the fire remains under investigation. it's shaping up to be another busy day for donald trump and

a ribbon cutting ceremony is being held today for the new david t. barrett marine patrol headquarters in gilford. the facility located on dock road features meeting, training and classroom spaces for new hampshire's boating community, as well as law enforcement services. you can also go there to pick up boating licenses and mooring permits. the ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. a girl scout from hudson has received the highest honor any girl scout can earn. michelle dominguez received the gold award for creating "mary's garden." the garden is a quiet area of contemplation for the saint kathyrn's parish community in hudson. good for her. a holiday tradition in bethlehem is benefiting military families in georgia. this is the twelfth year of the trees for troops program. nearly six hundred trees from new hampshire and vermont were donated by local businesses and

in southwestern areas of the state. and with freezing temperatures we are initially talking about a wintry mix. it may not last more than an hour in southern areas but it will last longer further north, 30's and 40's from north to south. we have a heavier chance of snowfall in the forecast. sean: we are following a developing story out of colombia. police say dozens are dead after a plane crashed in a mountainous area overnight. the chartered plane had 81 people on board, including a brazilian first division soccer team that was heading to colombia for a regional tournament. authorities say only five people survived. they say the plane declared an emergency due to an electrical failure before it went down. we will keep an eye on that story. the fbi is trying to determine a motive behind a violent attack at ohio state university. police say a student drove a car into a group of pedestrians yesterday morning, before stabbing several people on campus. eleven people were injured

police in berlin, vermont are asking for the public's help in tracking down a pair of meat thieves. they say these two people are suspected of stealing various types of meat from a shaw's supermarket. police all calling it a significant theft, but at this time, it's not clear exactly how much meat was taken. dictionary.com has unveiled its word of the year. and the word is "xenophobia." the website defines xenophobia as -- a fear or hatred of foreigners, people from different cultures or strangers. the website says searches of xenophobia spiked between june 22 and june 24, as britain voted to leave the european union, largely over immigration concerns. if you watch a lot of shows on netflix or hulu, you'll want to listen up. you could soon be taxed for streaming video. the topic is now generating a lot of attention after the city
